Specialties
Dr. Cancellier is a Board Certified Endodontist in Irvine, CA. He is a specialist in Root Canal Treatment, Retreatment, Apicoectomy, Endodontic Diagnosis, Treatment, and Surgery.
We specialize in Endodontics: the diagnosis and treatment of dental disease that affects the blood vessels and nerve tissues located in the center of teeth, the pulp. Pulp is found in root canals.
We specialize in diagnosing which tooth is the source of pain. The facility has the latest equipment to help diagnose pulpal problems including lower radiation digital radiography, and it is the only endodontic office in Irvine with a Cone Beam CT unit for 3D examination of teeth.
Once the problem tooth is located, we will confirm whether the tooth is salvageable and has a good long-term prognosis. This is where 20 years of experience using a microscope during treatment and working with expert assistants and the finest equipment end in the best results.
History
Established in 2011.
In 1988, Dr. Cancellier completed a two year residency in endodontics at the Veterans Administration Medical Center in Long Beach, California. Since then he has practiced endodontics and taught endodontics.
Dr. Cancellier was teaching in the Advanced Endodontics Division of the Herman Ostrow School of Dentistry of USC as an Associate Professor of Clinical Endodontics when the opportunity to return to full-time practice was presented in January, 2011. He purchased the endodontic specialty practice of the late Nina Nielsen, DDS.
While at USC, Dr. Cancellier helped the dental school obtain a cone beam micro CT unit. This 3D xray unit enables the viewer to see teeth no only from the conventional side view, but also see tenth of a mm cross sections from the front and the top. Once he was in private practice he could not operate without the unit in his office. Improved diagnostic information is available in certain cases like failing root canal treatments, surgeries, and resorption cases.
