Cons-​lady operating the truck with the dark brown/​black hair is a total beyotch and has no customer service skills whatsoever, the cupcakes range from small tall size to wide and stubby-​no consistency in baking skills, the rude lady smashed my freshly ordered cupcakes into one small clear box, don’t even think about picking your own cupcakes out-​the lady vetos it right when you point your finger, and… CASH ONLY.
To be honest, you can have shitty cupcakes or great tasting cupcakes and I’ll still give you another chance, but
When you have absolutely no customer service skills, I hope your business shuts down.

I had two cupcakes and would rate one a 5 and the other a 3,
The chocolate overload cupcake was spectacular. Moist chocolate cake with melted dark chocolate bits throughout and topped with a rich chocolate buttercream. I love chocolate and have a major sweet tooth and this one was just heavenly and made me quiver with delight.
The vanilla madness cupcake (vanilla cake with vanilla buttercream frosting) was a bit dry. The cake didn’t «wow» me but the frosting was sweet and rich.
Unlike other Unilocalers, my customer service experience was fine. The guy in the truck was friendly and quick to serve, so no problems there!

The Short and Sweet:
Witty name and the cupcakes are cute, but they taste like more effort was put into coming up with the ingredients and names than into the cooking. The ones I had were dry, dry, dry. The woman working wasn’t exactly friendly. Meh.

After a second visit, I’m gonna up the star count to 4. Here’s why:
— After having the Morsels Bakery Truck a couple times, I can definitively say that Oh For Sweet’s Sake cupcakes are better. The cupcake itself may not look as good, and they don’t always have the perfect-​mound & perfectly round icing like Morsels does, but they are SO YUMMY. They’re more moist, and the flavor is wonderful. My Black & White cupcake this time was delicious, soft all the way through (even the top!), and had an extra-​moist center (not undercooked, but I don’t know the technical term for when they do that!).
— I was helped by a much nicer, friendlier (and younger) lady this time who was way more helpful than the folks I talked to last time.

Oh For Sweet Sake has a lot of cupcake flavors to choose from. I think your experience here definitely depends on which cupcake you select.
My friend got the Sweet Potato and Bacon, but the cake part was dry and not very sweet. She found the bacon overpowering.
My cupcake, the Black and White, was much better. The cake was moist and it went very well with the frosting. The chocolate cake had some white chocolate chips in it, but for some reason they were only at the bottom of the cupcake. I turned my cupcake into a cupcake sandwich with the frosting in the middle, and it was delicious!
Cupcakes are a little pricey in my opinion at $ 3 a pop, but I did enjoy mine, so it was worth it.

Horrible customer service: I asked for a recommendation and they said they had none… I was like «so you think everything here is good huh»? And he just annoyingly shook his head. When a customer asks you something, talk to them, don’t just shake your head… give advice and point them in the right direction. The last thing you want is for someone to not go back to your truck because of poor customer service. At least the lady offered her 2 cents and suggested I try something different like the bacon cupcake. My friend and I got a banana cupcake and cookies and cream cupcake. Poor presentation and very dry cupcakes! Definitely not coming back.

So I consider myself a cupcake aficionado, so I am kinda picky when it comes to cupcakes.
I tried Oh For Sweets Sake tonight at a food truck event.
So this food truck event had over 29 food trucks, as you can imagine it was very crowded. I got the very last cupcake they had — mango. Normally I wouldn’t pick mango, but decided to go for it. Since it was the last cupcake, the crowd and nature of the event my expectations weren’t to high.
The cupcake wasn’t bad, but it wasn’t the best. The cream cheese frosting always gets me, its totally my favorite, but this time I was left wanting more. To be fair, it could be that I had just shoved the cupcake down my throat way too fast, but eh… They tasted like something I could make at home. I mean I do make amazing cupcakes, but if I have a cupcake from a bakery, it should be AMAZING!
If I see them at another food truck event I’ll give them another try.

Red velvet cupcake: This is the hardest/​dried cupcake I’ve ever had. It was almost like a muffin. I prefer super soft one. But it wasn’t so sweet and tasted good. The frosting — mmmmmm… very soft and actually yummy! It wasn’t so sweet, which I did like it ;) This is the first time I could finish it all by myself.

3.5 stars. Not bad. I tried cupcakes many times and almost all of them were NOT edible. This is really not bad. It’s not so sweet — Asian approved sweetness ;p If you like a soft cupcake with overly sweetened icing, you might not like it. Just ignore all the bad reviews. Not bad — I can eat it next time!

I’ve been to this truck twice now… and tried six different cupcakes from them. I’d name them but really none are worth talking about. They all are slightly on the stale side and have no pow. And it’s sad because visually they all look soooooo good… then you bite in and it’s let down city.
Save yourself the time and effort and make them from a box at home.

The four-​star review is based solely on the sweet potato bacon cupcake.
Now, listen up ya’ll, I ain’t no cupcake or sweet treat lover. Not in the very LEAST. I’d be lying if I told you I had even the beginnings of a sweet tooth. I’m not big on pie, I can pass on cake, I always smear icing off cupcakes because it’s too much for me and my tastebuds. Why I was born this way, I do not know.
However, when this truck pulled up at Din Din a Go Go everyone ran up to it like crazed maniacs and I’d figured I would see what all the hype was. Can’t be too careful with overhyped food, you know?
Anyway, while looking at the lineup of all these pretty little dainty cakes I saw something that caught my eye — as you know, from the top of this review — the sweet potato bacon cupcake. I had to cough up the $ 3 to get one because I didn’t know if I would ever have that chance again.
The cupcake tastes nothing like sweet potato in my opinion. Not overly sweet at ALL. It’s very cake-​y in a muffin-​y sense. It had the texture of a muffin which really didn’t surprise me as I found myself almost calling it a muffin just based on looks alone. The icing (which there is just the right amount of) had a saltier taste to it than I was expecting which was fantastic for me. Now… for the bacon bits… oh my Darwin, those were tasty, tasty bacon pieces if I do say so myself.
Gonna be honest, I was a little scared to try it… so I tried a tiny bit of everything separately. I had a tiny nibble of the cake, a fingertip of frosting, and a bit of bacon. Then I decided to go in for the bite. Delicious. I’d eat 100 of these cupcakes any day.

I was super happy to see that there were several dessert trucks at the Trucks N’ Toys event and with cupcakes being my favorite dessert, I knew this was one truck I had to check out.
I was tempted to try the Sweet Potato Bacon cupcake. It definitely looked interesting with the bacon strip on top. I also thought of getting the Cookies and Cream cupcake but when I saw that the Red Velvet cupcakes were almost gone, I decided to get that classic cupcake instead. Red Velvet is my favorite cupcake flavor and I couldn’t pass up trying this out.
The red velvet was alright. The sweet buttercream icing matched well with the red velvet base. I didn’t eat my cupcake till the next day and put the cupcake in the refrigerator but I think this may have been a mistake. By the time I ate my cupcake, the main cake of the cupcake was a bit dry.
All in all, it was OK but it left me wondering if the cupcake would’ve been better if I ate it right away. Hmm note to self: Save room for cupcakes! =P a next time.
Oh for Sweet Cake looks like they have a lot of good cupcakes. I recently saw on twitter that they have a new rum raisin cupcake, rum cake with dark chocolate covered raisins and chocolate buttercream. It looks delicious. Too bad the truck isn’t around here right now, because I could buy one and celebrate National Cupcake Day ;)!
Yay for cupcakes and yay for a cool day like today ;).

I can never pass up a cupcake with bacon on top!
Lucy Y was kind enough to share some of her Sweet Potato Bacon cupcake with me. At $ 3.00, they give u a really huge cupcake! My heart still belongs to MDC’s breakfast bacon cupcake (My Delight is coming out with their own truck in 2011!- woohoo!), but the Sweet potato bacon cupcake was pretty yummy as well. The Sweet potato flavor was not very pronounced, but the cake was still moist and yummy. I liked the frosting on top and the bacon on top was a nice thick sweet bacon.
I also had a bite of the RV cake, which was pretty good, but i’d rather have their SP one instead.
The give u a good bang for your buck but i would love to see some mini’s so i can try different flavors!

Since a group of us had just shared a few Grill Em All burgers, LudoTruck chicken balls, and Sugar Babies mini cupcakes in San San Pedro today, these big cupcakes looked like a lot of cake to handle.
But Oh For Sweets Sake were the only ones around with a bacon-​topped cupcake, so how could I pass THAT up?
Sweet Potato Bacon ($ 3) — nice fine crumb, lightly spiced cake with good cakey texture, and a few big pieces of really thick and crunchy bacon in a generous crown of salty icing. I’m torn between wanting bacon pieces in the cake and understanding that usually the texture of the cake has to be more muffin-​like to support that kind of heavy stir-​in. That being said, I really liked this cupcake!
The salty-​sweet icing had a good balance of salty for the sweet, which because of the bacon — it definitely needed. I give this cupcake two thumbs up!
Of course I HAD to try this too:
Red Velvet ($ 3) — moist deep red cake with a detectable buttermilk tang, topped with cream cheese icing with vanilla bean flecks visible in it. This was really good!
Coffee ($ 1) — basic coffee — I’m here for the cupcakes!
I’m so glad I had a little room in my belly for these big cupcakes — they were so worth it! They had some other yummy-​looking flavors that I’d be interested in trying if I see them again too (Blackberry, Oreo, Vanilla, ⁵⁰⁄₅₀ — like an orange creamsicle).

Mobile Cupcakes?! Such a great concept for my sweet tooth. Unfortunately, they didn’t have too many choices by the time I got there and that was early in the night.
They had the ⁵⁰⁄₅₀ (orange/​vanilla), a raspberry chocolate, the birthday cupcake, and one other. I went with the ⁵⁰⁄₅₀. I wanted the cupcake to go but they would only give me a to go box if I ordered another cupcake which I thought was lame so instead they put two paper trays together and wrapped it with foil. Wouldn’t a to go box have been easier?
The ⁵⁰⁄₅₀ was alright. I appreciated the fact that the vanilla frosting wasn’t too sweet and the cake wasn’t particularly dry but not moist either. The flavor of the orange didn’t really come through. I’m not quite sure what it was so this was an OK experience for me. Not sure if I would be eager to try them again. $ 3 a cupcake is a bit much and they’re cash only.

I’ve had an abundance of choice lately when it comes to trying out desserts and finally got to try the cupcakes off this food truck after a few missed opportunities where they sold out before I got to them.
I bought 2 cupcakes — the peanut butter and chocolate and the red velvet. I brought them home and after reading some of the reviews on here I thought ‘oh no, they’re gonna be dry’ but when I took a bite out of both, neither were dry, but they weren’t moist either. The texture was normal, nothing special.
For $ 3 the cupcakes aren’t big, and there was just a tad too much frosting on the peanut butter chocolate cupcake — not as much on the red velvet — too sweet for my taste, but I’m sure some people will find it just right.
I’m glad I tried them, not sure I’d return since I’ve had the best cupcakes I’ve ever had at the ConnectOC event, — the moistest cupcakes with frosting sweet enough but not sickly sweet and the texture just perfect.
This cupcake truck is a «meh I’ve experienced better» from me.

I am no whoopie pie connoisseur, but the ones from OFSS are damn tasty! The only other one I’ve had was from SusieCakes, and I actually liked this one much more. The chocolate cake was light and moist and not too sweet, and the white filling was creamy yet airy. I must have wolfed that thing down in less than a minute! It was positively cake-​a-​licious!
The one thing about this truck though is – how can I say this diplomatically? — it’s kind of unkempt. Which is very uncharacteristic for a bakery, even if it is a just a truck. Store bakeries are usually bright and quaint and clean. This truck, however, seems rather dark and run down and dingy. Even the glass on the display cases seems kind of grimy.
So while I really really really liked their whoopie pies, I have to say that the truck itself makes me feel like I’m buying crack rather than cake.

I was lucky enough to get 6 cupcakes (3 red velvet and 3 vanilla) before they ran out, and they were running out QUICK! So tasty, and I love the icing! This may have been my first time eating red velvet. They get my respect, keep it rockin «Oh-​For-​Sweets-​Sakes»!

My sister has a saying…“Don’t knock it til you’ve tried it… twice.”
Well, after writing my first review, the owner of this mobile cupcakery contacted me, apologized, and asked me to come back for a second try, on the house. Ok, I thought, why not? Maybe the experience will be better the second time around.
Wrong.
When I returned to the truck the following week, I was quickly handed two pre-​packaged cupcakes (the flavors I didn’t like the first time around that she wanted me to try again) and the owner said a few words I could barely hear, as she spoke with her back facing me. Ugh, rude…
I brought the cupcakes home and took a bite out of one. As I swallowed it, my husband looked back at the cupcake I had just taken a bite from and found a hair. The hair wasn’t mine, and it sure wasn’t his. Appetites turned sour, we threw both cupcakes in the trash.
I wrote the owner to let her know about my second experience. In response, I got a lot of excuses and a request to refund my money, but no apologies. I refused the refund because I would rather not interact with her any further.
Knock knock knock.

So at the Anaheim Farmer’s Mkt on thurs this week we got this cute cupcake truck. Coworkers & I decided to try it or I should say I’m the first to try it. I can’t say I’ll be buying another one anytime soon. And it’s definitely no Sprinkle’s.
I got the lemon drop cupcake. The cake itself was not very big for charging $ 3 a piece. it barely reached the lining of the cupcake foil. I did enjoy the lemon zest flavor of the cupcake, that was good. But towards the end of my cupcake, the cream cheese frosting was not tasting so hot. Tasted a bit sour and too much.
Overall, it just wasn’t anything great. At least I tried it.

Looks like Ms. Candice B. beat me to the punch on the FTR=) Her review is quite accurate so to refrain from redundancy…(because that doesn’t happen on Unilocal,does it? lol) I’ll keep this short.

Since they were wiped clean of the strawberry kiss cupcakes, I sampled the Hazelnut cupcake. I honestly should have purchased a few more to facilitate this review a bit but my third chin kept me from indulgence… until I get back on my P90X regimen. Anyhow, the first bite didn’t wow me until I reached the Nutella filled core. At that very moment… from out of nowhere, I heard a Gospel choir rejoice, birds chirping, & a rainbow appeared from out of no where at 8:49pm on a Wednesday night! Hard to believe, I know. I think this can all be attributed to the Sweets God bestowing great cupcake fortune unto me. A bit well deserved, I might add…
The Hazelnut cupcakes were topped off w/​a soft chocolate buttercream that was the perfect consistency. It wasn’t heavy like Sprinkles, which I loved.
A whopping $ 3 is what you’ll have to shell out for this bad boy, which your wallet will soon recover from after your first bite.
I’ll be updating my review after I’ve sampled the Strawberry Kiss cupcake! Will they remain at 3 stars or obtain the coveted 5 star rating? Stay tuned Unilocalers…
