Northwood Community Park

Great little gem. There are so many nice parks in Irvine but this one is my kids favorite. Lot’s of little play areas.

Great park. Very big, open, and clean. Tons of equipment for kids of all ages to play on. The only down side is that it is hard to keep an eye on more than one kid. The castle equipment was a favorite of every kid there. Surrounding the park is open fields, and some handball courts. There are also tons of benches to eat on.

one of my absolute favorite parks. I grew up going here and now my kids love it as well. there is a huge castle (much safer now than 20 yrs ago) where the kids can run nuts. all the structures are new and partially shaded. basketball hoop right next to the playground in case you want to get in a few shots while the kids play.

This is a review for the playground only:
What a huge, beautiful place to play! Mostly sand so don’t forget your sand toys. I would say it’s 75% in the sun, so wear sunscreen — it was super hot the day I went and it was somewhat difficult to find shady areas in the playground. Will definitely go back on a cooler day. Worth checking out.

Such a lovely and clean park! The playground is really awesome and safe for the kids too. There is a mock castle for kids to play along side of, as well as the usual slide, swings and rockers. There are plenty of shaded areas under trees to hang out at while watching on your kids. There are even restroom facilities.

We love Castle Park! There is so much to do here — it’s difficult to get kids to leave. Not only is the park and playground great, but there is a nice little walking track that goes around the baseball/​soccer field. Everything at this park is what you’d expect from an Irvine park: clean, fun and family-​friendly.
The only downside is that there isn’t enough shade around the playground equipment. Mid-​day can be especially brutal as the hot sun bears down. We resort to playing for a while, then taking a break to sit underneath one of the many trees around the outside of the playground.
ETA: Actually, there is a part of the park to be aware of, which I like to call the Bridge of Doom. It’s really slippery, and always has sand on it, which makes it extra slippery. I’ve seen many kids and adults slip and fall straight on their behinds on the bridge, especially if they walk on it slowly. I really hope the parks department puts some traction down or something to prevent people from slipping!

This is a pretty big playground with plenty to do! There’s a castle/​fort area that the kids like to run around on, and it’s just so spacious with a great playground.

This park is perfect! Very clean! Small shaded area. I recommend putting on sunscreen! The castle is neat… it has a manly touch to it! My son loves the castle. It offers both sand and foam pads. There are picnic tables and trees. What a beautiful park! And the bathroom is very clean! Kudos to that!!! ;)

Nice facelift!
Castle Park as it’s called is a gem of a park. We started coming here when the kids were tiny and loved it then.
They’ve done a great job with the playground and remodel of the community center over the past few years. The park is kept clean and tidy. There are picnic tables and lots of mature trees to keep you shaded.
I like the fitness stations that are spotted around the field. Parents can keep busy while their kids practice soccer or baseball! Git off yer butts and set an example!

Known by the locals as Castle Park, this is the perfect local neighborhood park with everything you could need:
– Playground with multiple play structures, slides, and swings.
– Northwood Castle is great for pretend play.
– Two tennis courts.
– Two full sized soccer fields.
– A baseball field.
– Benches and areas to picnic.
– A permanent memorial for locals who have lost their lives in the recent wars.
