Jeffrey Open Space Trail

Great trail for runners, kids to ride their bikes, or relaxing walks! Few easy entrances from Stonegate as well as Woodbury. As a runner I like to mix it up and either run on the dirt trail or cement. Beautiful scenery along the way!

If you aren’t a resident, the easiest way to get there is by parking at the Cypress Village shopping center at the corner of Trabuco and Jeffery. Here’s an address to plug into your GPS:
14 201 Jeffrey Road, Irvine, CA 92 620.
The trail is about 2.5 miles (just Jeffrey, it extends further past Trabuco but changes into Cypress Village trail). It ends at Portola. It’s sandwiched between the street and housing development, but overall its a well kept trail. It’s mostly paved but there are some little offshoot dirt trails you can take that lead you back to the main paved path.
There’s a lot of history placards on this trail about the history of California and Irvine. Saw lots of photographers taking pictures, lots of opportune places here. Also a few nice bridges to cross.
Planning on going again to try the Cypress Village trail. The dog Zulu seemed to like it, and it got her sufficiently tired.

One of my favorite walkways in all of Irvine. Great place to walk your dog or just go for a stroll. It goes for a long stretch, all the way from Portola to the 5 freeway on Jeffrey.
Beautiful plants, trees, multiple walkways, and typically not too crowded. This is a true gem in Irvine.

I like this trail and a good course for biking. Most of all, it is connected to the trails in Irvine so that I can try many differnent combinations.

We like this trail for our Saturday morning runs when it’s cooler. It’s quiet, and has drinking fountains and a restroom. The bridges make it nice to do a long run without having to deal with traffic.

I explored this pathway one day just cuz i got curious of the bridges that went along down Jeffrey rd — it’s a pretty nice walkway for casual walking and running. From one of the bridge views you can get a nice view of the street intersection at the cypress village area

The best trail local to the Woodbury/​stonegate area. Quiet, well-​kept up and family friendly. A great place for a quick stroll or run in the park while avoiding busy streets.

Super pretty! And great for photos and just beautiful scenery, however it is VERY confusing to find the entrance and even parking here!!! Definitely one of those parks that were made just to be for the local residents for they are walking distance unlike those who want to go and take dance photos. My advice, get there early lol

I run on this trail several times a week. It is very clean, beautifully landscaped, and the path is wide. There is a very large grassy open area near Portola that is perfect for frisbee play with kids or dogs. I also like the poo bags provided for dog owners. The trail is perfect, but I wish everyone enjoying the trail would follow the rule of always keeping to the right side of the path. It would make it a lot safer for everyone because the trail is shared with bicyclists as well. Seeing people walking side by side taking up the entire width of the path drives me crazy!

I just discovered this trail by my house, good for running, walking, bike… Oh and just spotted a coyote from a distance which is cool

Quite a fair trail, lots of nice dips and hills. I inline skate here pretty frequently because of that reason. The trail is very clean most of the time, and has some pretty excellent smooth slick sidewalk. It’s a great trail for just taking a cruise, getting a workout in, or enjoying some of its quietness in the evening. Although it does get a bit hazardous when people start taking up the entire pathway or walk/​run smack dab right in the middle of the trail and pay no regards to oncoming cyclists or (inline skaters) like me coming from behind them. Becomes an issue. Pedestrians should stay more to the right and share the path. Other than that, very nice trail and very nice community that resides next to it.

Just want to respond to a review by JK below which he /​she seems to think only Woodbury resident should have access to the park. It is not so. It is a City of Irvine park, not a Woodbury park.

They’ve expanded the trail. Now it extends to connect all villages off of Jeffrey; Stonegate, Woodbury & Cypress Village. Love how open and family friendly Irvine is. Beautifully done, and a plus with the connecting bridges, we don’t have to worry about our little ones crossing big streets! Good job planners!

Newly built, endowed with trees, large green grass space. This trial is beautiful. The smooth pavement allows it to be a great place to ride bikes. My dogs love walking on the trial. It also allows you to go from portola to Trabucco without having to cross the streets. Very safe

Cute little path to go for a walk, bike ride, or bring your dog. It was a little crowded but not to badly. Not a ton of open space but it’s convenient, the bridges are neat, and they have a lot of nice yuccas and cactus along the way. They also have stops throughout the path that recount the history of Irvine. The playground has a lot of good features if you have a kid and it wasn’t crowded at all. We will be back!

This is a great trail servicing the Irvine community. The new expansion is now open and you can enjoy this trail from Portola down to the 5 freeway. The new bridges are great and allow you to enjoy the trail without having to wait for the stop lights. It is well lit and I feel safe and secure on my runs here.

The entire park and path is now open from Portola to the 5/​sand canyon. It’s a nice long path across several bridges and tunnels. Plenty of space for walking, skating and bike riding except when toddlers get in the middle and their parents don’t pay attn.
