A+ service from Yvette! I found Hair Café on Unilocal when I was looking to get a cut and hi-​lights at a decent price. Yvette welcomed me at the door, offered me water, soda, and coffee, and was super sweet. She really took time to get to know me and made me feel comfortable immediately. I showed Yvette a couple pictures of what I wanted and she made sure my hi-​lights and cut were what I was hoping for. Cut was $ 45 and partial hi-​lights $ 70. It included shampoo and style. She made this entire experience so easy and fun. I would highly recommend her to anyone looking for a new, friendly, experienced hair stylist. The location is in a strip mall near the airport. They’re currently renovating the shopping center, but parking was a piece of cake. I hear weekday lunchtimes can get hectic with parking, so give yourself a few extra minutes if you go between 11am and 1pm. I will definitely be back!

I haven’t received a haircut here yet, but be careful purchasing a groupon here. Paulette isn’t good at returning messages to schedule an appointment. It’s unfortunate.

So happy to be moving back to OC & able to have Yvette cut my hair again. Before I moved to West LA, several years ago, I had gone to Yvette for over 18 years. Since my move, I have been unable to find anyone with Yvette’s knowledge & skill. I drove from West LA for my appointment, it was worth it!
When you are not able to express exactly what you want, she just seems to know. I have very long, unruly thick hair. She always tames the beast.

YVETTE MANARY is the type of stylist who takes pride in her work and is diligent in her styling technique. She takes the time to find out and understand what her clients are looking for and is willing to offer her own innovative ideas with a professional flare. She has always maintained the client’s wishes firsthand and is also willing to try something different if asked of her. She dedicates her time to each client: men, women and children, and is focused on «you» when in her chair.
Yvette was a referral as a temporary stylist when my main stylist was unavailable (I would commute 38 miles one way). I was always pleased and more than happy with my cut and color that I decided to continue with Yvette as my primary stylist. Having a stylist with the training and skill to provide a cut that maintains its shape/​look yet grows out nicely each and every time AND who has the ability to encompass the art of styling various hair types, is rare to find. When one finds a professional like Yvette, why go anywhere else?

I have been getting my hair cut by Yvette Manary for 20+ years. Best hairstylist ever. She knows exactly what I want and I just let her work her magic on my hair. Always come out with a perfect cut and color. Also does an amazing Brazilian blow out.

I’ve been going to Paulette for about two years after dealing w/​bad & more expensive cuts elsewhere. Perfect cut every time, and my hair is thin, straight, and hard to cut correctly. A year ago I was at a 10-​day course in Chicago, and people kept asking my age because I apparently look younger than my mostly gray hair would indicate. I told Paulette about it, and she solved the problem by coloring it in a way that isn’t obvious — instead of looking like someone colored it w/​brown shoe polish (you guys know who you are), it’s subtle enough that even the people who know me best can’t tell when I’ve had it touched up. She’s the best!

Saw Trinidad for a haircut and he is amazing! My hair was long and very damaged at the ends so I decided to cut up to the shoulders. He gave me exactly what I wanted with a ton of input on how he’d cut layers into my hair to suit my face shape & thick hair. My mane feels so soft and healthy now! Thank you, Trinidad, for working your magic!

I bought a Plum deal for a Brazilian Blowout with Paulette and I’m a happy camper. Paulette did ALL the steps. I’ve been to a few (no more than a few) places where they skip a few steps and call it a day. I gave them good Unilocal reviews anyway because they ALL told me «I’m Brazilian certified and I do ALL the steps». I’m usually reading a book or a magazine anyway and I really don’t pay all the much attention to what they are doing.
Paulette is a sweetheart, funny as heck, gave me a great blow dry plus she said she will honor her coupon pricing on all my future Brazilians. Also, Paulette did not pull the old «I’m going to charge you $ 50.00 more because you have long hair» scam on me. I’ve had that happen and I’ve paid it without complaint but it’s still a scam. She also did not quote me some outrageous $ 300.00 to $ 400.00 original price when I asked her what the pre coupon price was so I could tip her accordingly. I like her honesty and for that she will get my future business.
I will be returning to this low key salon stuck in the middle of a strip mall in a business park in Irvine. When I drove up I thought to myself «I know this place, I used to come here for lunch eons ago when I worked for those @#*% fooks at Abusive Employers R Us». I can remember coming here for lunch and wanting to drive home instead of back to the office afterward. Hmmmm… bad memories of the strip mall food court, good memories of Paulette and Hair Café.

Ask for Tammy if you want to get your nails done. Her prices are affordable and she is both efficient and great at painting nails. I haven’t done any waxing, but I definitely want to go to her for that too.

I get my Brazilian Wax done here for almost 8 years! Tammy is so wonderful and such a kind hearted lady. I tried other places and I get what I pay for. I end up getting ingrown and I don’t know what quality of wax others use but I decided to trust my Brazilian with Tammy. I have never gone w anyone else. I’m finally putting in this review because for the price of $ 25 bucks you can’t go wrong! Ask for Tammy and for her other services! You won’t regret it!

Hair café is a great place to go if you want a comfortable, fun atmosphere and a great hair cut. Whether it’s the clean environment or the friendly staff worth every dollar and I agree Harvey is a hoot!!! He also gave me an amazing new color and cut for the summer :)

I found a super deal on Plum District for a Brazilian Blowout with Paulette. I’ve been wanting one for a very long time, but was scared it would harm my hair and they were too expensive for me to justify. Paulette’s deal was just too good to pass up! I arrived at Hair Café, shaking, because I was SO scared of what might happen to my hair. Paulette immediately made me feel comfortable. She walked me through every step of the process and put my mind at ease very quickly. I LOVE how my hair turned out and am so glad I bought two treatments! If you are looking for a Brazilian Blowout, I HIGHLY recommend you go see Paulette! She knows this product inside and out and does a beautiful job!!! I really like hair café and enjoy coming here for both hair cuts and airbrush tanning. I found Harvey through Unilocal and I love him because he doesn’t cut my hair any shorter than I want him to, listens to what I want, and has very reasonable prices. I’m extremely picky and conservative when it comes to hair cuts and Harvey has never disappointed me. The other stylists are friendly and welcoming. The salon is very no frills, and family-​like. I find myself chatting with the stylists and their clients like we’re all friends. I also highly recommend Jenny for tanning. She is very good and I always get compliments on how real my tan looks. I can always reach Harvey and Jenny by texting them which is really convenient. Finally, Tammy is great for waxing too (and cheap!!!) I’m a big fan of this salon and an even bigger fan of the people who work here.

Since I am a commuter to the OC, I do not always have time to tame my coif. I went to Hair Café to get a quick blow out so I didn’t look so beat for the rest of the day. David took me right away to his station to perform some magic.
The salon uses Enjoy hair products which are free of sulfates and smell really good. That received an extra star for the review.
David took his time, made me feel completely comfortable and did a great job. He definitely styled my hair better then I ever can.
However, the price of a blow dry was $ 35 which was a little steep in relation to what I have paid for blow drys in the Inland Empire. Considering the area, I cannot be too upset but the salon will not earn five stars in my book.
David also talked about doing discounts on Fridays called «Foxy Fridays» where he provides blow outs a discount rate. I will go back to check this out.

I went to Hair Café the other day to get my hair cut.
If zero stars were an option, thats what I would rate Hair Café.

Harvey seemed to be a nice guy. He was super friendly and talkative. He was telling me that he has been doing hair for 33 years. The thing that I found rather annoying was that he walked away like 4 or 5 times to go answer his cell phone while he was in the middle of cutting my hair. It’s frustrating when you go to get a haircut, and don’t have to wait in line and it still takes an hour and a half for him to cut my hair.
Outcome:
i HATE my haircut. HATE HATE HATE HATE.
It’s plain awful. I have very fine hair. I showed him a picture of the haircut that I wanted and asked him if he thinks it would work because of how fine my hair is. Harvey said that it would and so he started cutting away. When he was done with the layers, he asked me if I wanted it thinner at the bottom. I said no, i just wanted it a little shorter, yet he continued to thin it. WHY WOULD YOU THIN OUT HAIR THAT IS ALREADY SUPER THIN TO BEGIN WITH?!
To top it all off, Harvey cut my bangs crooked. There are some that are the right length and then other pieces that are way too long. It is awful.
I will not be returning to Hair Café, not even to get this terrible hair cut fixed.
To anyone with fine hair and is looking to get their hair cut, don’t go here, and steer clear of Harvey.

Tammy is awesome! She does hair, nails, and waxing. She does an amazing job and prices are affordable! I go every 3 – 4 weeks for all my needs.
