H&R Block

David Carruthers was close to 30 minutes late for the scheduled appointment. He was distracted the entire time. He skipped over important sections of my return. Then 45 minutes into my return he got and up and left stating he had a personal appointment.
When I wrote him to tell him again how unprofessional he was he said he was late due to a customer with cancer and had to leave to volunteer in a homeless shelter. I was truly disgusted that he would hide behind these things as excuses for his unprofessional behavior.

Nicole, I apologize again for your frustrating experience with us on Friday. Yes, I did not connect you with the gentleman (Manni) I met at the dealership recently, and therefor underestimated the time needed for filing two separate returns. The client that held me up on Friday is struggling with cancer and I was trying to help her work out a payment plan to enable her to pay a heavy tax liability due to having to take money out of her retirement funds for medical expenses. This delayed me finishing up with her until about 12.20, instead of 12 as originally scheduled.
I understand you are busy and once I got into your return and saw it preferable to change directions on how to treat your (now) rental property, it became apparent I couldn’t finish up in the remaining time before I had to leave for my prior commitment to perform (I am a part time musician) for a fundraiser for the Huntington Beach Homeless Youth Shelter. My thanks to Wayne to step in and finish up the same day. I was happy to see that we secured more than $ 5,000 in federal and state refunds for you in the approach we took. Our fee was also lower than it would otherwise have been had we not revised the original plan of treatment for the property. I understand you have now had a conversation with the Blake, our manager, who will deal further with further concerns you might have, if any.

That was the most unprofessional experience I’ve ever had. I fully intend on speaking with Blake. How do you intend to make it right. The treatment I received was not acceptable.
You told me to make an appointment for one hour for two people.
You were half an hour late and I was there for an hour and a half when you told me you didn’t have time to finish my return.

Very disappointed! I made an appointment for today at 5:00pm and I showed up at 4:45 to an office that was still locked with nobody in it. I called HR BLOCK customer service and they stated that my appointment was canceled (not done by me) therefore someone decided to cancel and they decided not to confirm with me. On the other hand the gentleman who we called was very helpful and that is who I give the one star to. Word of advice before going in for an appointment call and confirm that your appointment isn’t cancelled.

I will start my review of by the waiting period (since I’m still sitting and waiting)
Appointment was scheduled and confirmed for 8.00pm with Michelle
I got here 7.45pm YES I’m on time.
The nice lady at the front desk told me Michelle is just finishing up.
8.15 I was told the people she is just dealing with forgot some kind of paperwork and it would take another 10 minutes.
That was 20 minutes ago.

North Irvine’s H&R Block location gets it done every time for this Unilocaler.
I have been filing with H&R Block for at least a decade and this is the location I always end up at so long as I am living in OC. Every year has been a complete breeze as I simply drop off my paperwork and return the next day to ink the documents and then I simply wait for my refund to hit my checking account. It doesn’t get any easier and I have yet to have a single issue. One could argue that the associated costs are high for their services but I have no issue paying a premium for the peace of mind in the event of an audit.
One year I was forced to file out of H&R Block’s Denver office and the hack that prepared my documents caused a nightmare situation that would have costed me $ 2500.00+ in penalties had I not opted in for their future audit coverage. The Irvine location ironed everything out, paid out the fees and refiled on my behalf free of charge and hassle.
I have absolutely no issue recommending this H&R Block location to anyone that does not want to be burdened by fax filing.

Just filed our taxes with Liya Gu today. Very nice and thorough. I appreciated that she took the time to go over each section and explain the breakdown. Very patient too since the hubby had to go home to grab some of our missing docs (and we were already crawling into her lunch break!) definitely recommend her!

Ilya gu senior tax advisor is best to deal with in this company, she helped me a lot and she was calling me everyday to check on my process. I will definitely will deal with her every year.

What’s the point of an appointment if we’re not going to be seen on time! My husband and I made an appointment for 5p.m. We got there exactly at 4:55p.m. Waited about 15 minutes only to have Owen come in from somewhere else apologizing for being late. Horrible place… don’t waste your time or energy. Anyways, we just left… Turbo Tax it is!

Filing your taxes can be an intimidating, and sometimes even scary process when you’re not sure of what you’re doing or if you might be leaving out something crucial. Thanks to Michelle Molnar, I know where I’ll be filing my taxes every year. She was incredibly helpful and even stayed late with me explaining everything and going over all of the details.
Such a long, complicated process was made a lot simpler and understandable by a friendly, experienced professional. Idk if all H and R reps are this awesome, but this has been one of my best customer experiences ever for sure.
Seriously, hats off to this lady and H and R. If you’re reading this, Michele, thank you! With my tax return I’ll be able to send my mom some money this year and pay off some off a chunk of my student loan. I am sure I would’ve been lost and frustrated by the whole process without you.

I went to TARGET to buy the H & R block software. It was cheaper than TURBO TAX, so I figured why not.
Last night the pain began. TURBO TAX was a breeze last year. Work perfectly & I received my check quickly without filing trouble. H & R block software CHARGED ME $ 10.00 to file! Then they charged me Another $ 10 to file my repaired return.
Stay away. Use turbo Tax

TOTALLY RIPPED OFF! I usually do my taxes online with TurboTax but decided to have a professional take a look to see if I got a different amount back this year. The H&R Block commercial saying theres $ 1B dollars unclaimed had me quite interested…
So what took 20 minutes to complete for a simple (1) W-​9 and (1) student loan deduction. cost me $ 170! WTF. I feel totally ripped off and completely unsatisfied. When I asked for an explanation, all she said was «I had to file a longer form for you to get you more money.» Longer form? It took 20 minutes from the time I sat down including her small talk. What would the «shorter» form take, 5 minutes? Again and again she said «wow, yours are easy!» Well ya. thanks for pointing out I got ripped off.
I’m so upset and feel totally taken advantage of. DO NOT GO HERE! There are plenty of step by step guides to do taxes your own and not get robbed. Learn from me.

Highly recommend Charmaine «Sherry» Elder for her expertise and thoroughness with managing my returns. I had an excellent customer experience with her and will definitely be a returning customer!

It was my first time at H&R block since my dad has always done my taxes for me. They were very friendly and made me feel very comfortable.
