Business Owner

Tonya completed her undergraduate studies at Louisiana State University. After graduating with a Bachelor of Science in Human Movement and Biomechanics, she worked in the ER at Charity Hospital as a Clinical Research Associate conducting research studies in the area of wound care and infectious disease.

Tonya then began her pursuit of her doctorate at the American University of the Caribbean. She graduated with Honors from the university with both a Master of Science as well as her MD.

It was during her husband’s fellowship in cosmetic surgery that Tonya grew increasingly interested in the field of facial rejuvenation. To date, Tonya has become proficient in facial injectables, laser and chemical rejuvenation of the face and body, along with expertise in non-​invasive body contouring modalities.

Tonya continues to increase her knowledge base to help provide her patients with the most cutting edge techniques, providing excellent results while minimizing discomfort and down time.

My first negative review ever but I feel scammed. Nice facility. Clean, bright and comfortable. The practitioners couldn’t be nicer. Some doctor, whom I never met, in some back room decided not to honor their advertised price and charge me double what was expected. I will never go back and would never recommend this place… At least not until they get new management!

I have been doing Botox for over 10 years. Found Gravity on groupon. Best experience I have had. I have now done some fillers and couldn’t be happier with the results and the experience. Monica helped me so much. We discussed everything she gave me great advice. She was careful and was so informative. We talked about what I wanted the next time she told me about Sculptra and how it would fill the area I wanted and how long it lasts. It’s ambiance is professional and friendly. This was my forth trip and they have a permanent customer in me

Extremely pleased with my experience with Gravity Med Spa! I had Voluma and Juvederm injections for hollowness in my cheek area and thinning lips. What impressed me about Gravity Med Spa was:
–Results looked natural not overdone
–Staff was friendly and very knowledgeable
–Upscale office
Dr. Tonya Chugay was awesome! She really cares about her clients and listens to what they want. I have recommended her to several of my friends and they have all been very happy with the services they received.

I absolutely love this place. First of all it is SUPER clean which is an absolute must and the staff are all so sweet. I am usually in and out within my allotted appointment time– the longest i have ever waited to go back to receive my treatments is about 5 – 10 minutes if that.
I go to Kindel for my laser hair removal treatments and in addition to be super sweet and cheerful, she is extremely thorough. She will get into the hard to reach areas and ensure that you are getting your moneys worth out of every treatment. I always request her and highly recommend Kindel and Gravity Medical Spa as a whole.

I have been coming here for about 6 months The Staff and DR. are all very nice. I really hesitated to make this review. I had several Botox injections and Juvaderm for my lips. The Botox didn’t seem to last and my lips deflated after a week. I asked why this would happen and they really could not give me an answer’I have had Hydra Facial and so has my Daughter loved it. Been doing the combo shots for weight loss. They don’t work. I have had these other places and can always smell Vitamin B after shot.
Also had a round of Endy Meds done. Really didn’t work either’Spent so much money here for nothing.
Also I had a Hydra Facial which was very good. She for got to tell me that she had not lowered the bed down and I got off and feel hurt my left knee cap. If I have to have surgery Its on them! Do yourself a favor go else where.
So with all this said and done I learned I will not go to med spas anymore. I will only go to Dr. I have used all along. He is more expensive but treatments work and last.
Always ask to see the Botox Bottle they are using, and syringe. Same for all fillers and shots. I believe they water down their products. Their Botox is Horrible doesn’t work and how do ones lips become deflated after a week? They should have offered a refund

I went to this place on a Groupon for an IPL Photofacial. The space is welcoming and clean and the particular RN was very friendly and warm. So, I have to give them credit for both of those things.
Otherwise, my experience was below average. I’ve been shopping for a new med spa for some months after my favorite aesthetician left a spa I’d been a member of for 2 years. I have been researching IPL for a while due to malasma and sun spots. I bought 3 photofacials for 3 different med spas. My experience here was by far the worst for a few reasons.
Consultation: even though they allow a customer to purchase the IPL online with no consults, they would not allow you to get the procedure without a consult prior. Consults and procedures cannot be done on the same day, so I wasted time on two appointments instead of just one. I resisted the consult because I’d already had the procedure and knew all there was to know about it and suspected it was a stealthy sales tactic. It was. My consult was my eventual RN with a clipboard asking me questions that I had already answered on the 10 or so pages of paperwork I had to fill out. She never once stepped up to look at my face. But deduced that to get the results I was going for, I would need 100 of dollars of additional treatments. I was then ushered into an office where the manager (?) presumptively started typing up invoices for the extra work they planned to have me do. I said I was not paying for additional services and I would wait and see how this treatment went before committing to more. If looks could kill, I never would have made it out of there alive.
When I wet in for the actual procedure, my RN was very comforting and thorough. But, again, upon leaving they started the hard sell on getting me booked for my next procedure with them. Huge turn off.
With a month between that IPL treatment and the next one I got I saw almost no results whatsoever. So over all I felt like I wasted far too much time and a small chunk of money coming here. I’d definitely recommend checking out Newport Beach MedSpa over Gravity if you are in the market for services.

I was probably one of the first customers here. I didn’t realize why it was never busy, but it is now, and that says a lot that it’s grown so much so fast. I came for laser hair removal, and will be back for other services. They’ve got the best equipment, clean comfortable office, wifi, and appointments are always on schedule. Special thanks to Kindel who has really taken care of me. She really knows her stuff, takes the time to do her job right, and has been super friendly. She makes what could be an awkward, sometimes painful procedure into a pleasant experience.

Gravity Med Spa was a massive disappointment. I bought a Groupon for 6 laser hair removal treatments and I still have FULL hair growth after all 6 treatments. Not only did I receive conflicting information from the physician and technician, but the huge lack of results made this a complete waste of time/​money. They claimed that they would clean my laser tip after each use and they didn’t. The physician said 6 treatments would take care of my underarms and then on the 5th treatment the technician said it would take 12. I just want my expectations to be aligned with reality. Frustrating. I was «in back» for no more than 5 minutes for each treatment but my commute to Gravity Med Spa was an hour round-​trip. The physician said that they would honor the Groupon price I paid for more treatments. After 5 treatments, they tried to get me to buy more treatments for an inflated price. I mentioned what the physician said during the consultation and they were very insensitive and didn’t honor what was previously promised. As I stated, my treatments were for my underarms. When I say that results were lacking, I shaved twice per week prior to treatment and I am now shaving 1 – 2 times per week. The growth is less coarse but still covers the entire area.
I can’t comment on any of their treatments aside from laser hair removal. Do not go to Gravity Med Spa for laser hair removal. I won’t be back or recommending this place to anyone.

I have had cool sculpting procedures in the past, and Gravity Med Spa has been by far the most professional and well priced facility I have encountered. The staff is highly knowledgeable and honest about what should or should not be done to your body. A breath of fresh air in the cosmetic world.

I wanted to say I am very hesitant but after few visits I am loving this place. Kendel is awesome she does my hair removal and yes there availability is limited but that’s because they r so good. I am a dentist and now my patients have commented how good my skin looks due to the help of there esthetician. My skin looks great from facials and I am no longer fuzzy. Thanks Kendel and Laura

This place has a very weak laser that doesn’t do great work. And when you complain, dr b gives you a really passive aggressive answer instead of just owning it and apologizing for having unhappy clients. The staff is okay, I wouldn’t say they’re rude but they’re not particularly nice. My laser nurse was nice but again, didn’t get good results.
On top of that– the front desk will try to sell you creams that are WAY up charged that you don’t need. Not numbing creams, like basically bath salts that you could buy on Amazon.
There are better laser places to go to.

I came here for the first time in December 2015 because I had purchased a botox groupon which i thought was a killer deal (too good to be true.) I’m pretty sure the botox they give to groupon patients is watered down because my wrinkles were back about a month and a half later. complete waste… not to mention how pushy the employee was trying to sell me facial services for $ 700 +

I was reassured by the staff that she was excellent! let me tell you, she was everything they said and more! i’m in my 50s and I’ve been around a while. outstanding

I purchased a Groupon for 3 IPL Photofacial treatments at Gravity Med Spa. The treatments were performed by Marissa, RN — who is phenomenal! The front desk ladies are welcoming and warming.
For my first session, Marissa consulted me about my concerns and what I wanted to accomplish with my IPL treaments. I wanted to correct my extremely oily skin, acne and acne scares. Marissa has great bedside manners and was knowledgable about the IPL machine and its capabilities. For each treatment she adjusted the settings according to what I wanted to achieve and the results of the previous treatment.
Results: My skins oil production was reduced by 60% (seriously!) Overall, my skin is more smooth, supple and my acne/​scars has significantly been reduced. They do recommend maintenance treatments every 6 months, which I will definitely do. I am very happy with the results and the service I received. I highly recommend Gravity Med Spa and Marissa!

I just wanted to update my review based on the efforts of Dr. B and the staff at Gravity Med Spa, after my initial experience they reached out to me in a incredibly professional manner, and due to my super busy schedule I had to reschedule/​cancel a follow up twice unfortunately.
Yet, I felt very pleased with the warm, and caring customer service and their efforts to truly fix my experience. So even though I haven’t been back yet, I throughly I would share that because it truly meant a lot.

Not impressed. I bought a Groupon for 20 units of botox, i ALWAYS get 20 units because well I’m 25. I only need it in my forehead and every time I have ever got 20 units its been more than enough, seriously like it lasts 6+ months.
1st… I buy my Groupon and I’m super excited I make my appt for 1:30 (forgot the exact day) but beginning of December.
I get there at 1:10… early yes, but I know there is always paperwork… I don’t even get seen till almost 2pm. Unexpectable. WHY have appointments?!?
Third. The esthetician evaluted me and said I needed 40+ units, and my crows feet (which are non existent) kept trying repeatedly to upsale me. I’m like girl this isn’t my first rodeo… Turn off.
I get my 20 units, leave well over an hour later for a procedure that takes 5 min…
So two weeks later my results set it… yeah NOT impressed. it been 6 – 7 weeks now and my forehead looks exactly like it did when i went in.
Don’t waste your money.
Although the facility is nice, thats why I gave it 2 stars.

Wow!!! I must have had the BEST experience ever here this afternoon! Dr. Tonya B answered ALL my questions to Botox, juvderm, MIC Shots, ILP she answered ALL questions! She seriously was so sweet and professional and I appreciated how she spent time with me. I did come in on a Groupon for 20 units of Botox which used and I saved a couple for next time. Normally you hear the horrible visits from Groupon users but she treated me like a NORMAL customer! So with saying that I give Gravity Med Spa 5 big star and recommend them to anyone!!! THANK YOU! Amazing experience!

This place is just awful. I’m seeking a refund. Their appointment availability is horrible and when I did the laser hair removal treatment it burned me so bad it smoked!!! The doctor even said herself she’s never seen that before. I was red for days! She also made very rude insensitive comments about my scarring. I’m already super insecure about my scarring and her comments really hurt me, it made me emotional. Those type of comments are unnecessary. Should have spoken up and told her how rude she was. Please save yourself the headache!!! Find another place as I’m currently looking for a different spa.
