G Q Guaranteed Quality Carpet & Air-Duct Cleaning

Got a cold rude call from this company that would not take no for an answer and kept calling back. I had to finally block them from calling. Thanks to Unilocal for confirming what I figured was some type of scam.

Got a cold call today. When I tried to interrupt the gentleman to say I wasn’t interested he cut me off and started over again. So I let him go through his whole routine which included telling me the dangers of not servicing my furnace. After he was done I asked him if he knew what the DO NOT CALL REGISTRY was. He was mad. Why didn’t I tell him? After reading the reviews I am sooooooooooo glad I didn’t consider it. I already got scammed once by alstate. Never again. I will make sure I find someone who has numerous referrals. Also after reading these reviews and seeing they cold call and upcharge often I wonder how they can say they have the Better Business Approval on their site?

I received phone call promoting carpet cleaning service for 6 areas for $ 159. I said ok. I regret my decision. I let him talk me into additional services for additional $ 90 dollars. Yikes! He was very unprofessional. He filled very large buckets of water at my kitchen sink. Dumped dirty water on front lawn. Only one technician came to my home. I’m accustomed to two. But the two worst things is that he left carpets very wet and now an electrical outlet in my bedroom is not working! Yeah, fool me only once also. I just wanted him to get out of my house,

My elderly father received a phone call from a representative from this company convincing him that he needed to have his ducts cleaned, despite the fact that they had been cleaned within the last two years and his home is not dusty or moldy. He believed he would be paying $ 90 for the work. The check the workmen took home was for $ 971. Something is not right!

UPDATE 2:
Got a call from someone over there asking about my experience. I explained what happened, he regretted my poor experience, then asked that he send a technician out to make sure the first technician did a good job (because I don’t really know if the tech did everything he was supposed to do, like mask air vents…). Told him I’m not letting you guys back into my house so you can find more ways to charge me. FOOL ME ONCE!
UPDATE:
I called the company as soon as I agreed to pay $ 165 and spoke to Keith. He said he would take care of it. After all was done, my tech came back to me with the updated price of $ 135.
They did not mask and ducts though, nor did they really explain what they were actually doing so I can’t vouch for their quality of work like other reviewers. I’ll just assume things are good.

Took a cold call for the first time in years because I need this work done with my two infants.
Quote was for $ 135 for work, but when tech got here, he charged extra $ 10 for each duct over the first 8. (I have 14 ducts).
BAIT AND SWITCH!

After receiving a promotional phone call, we had Guaranteed Quality Restorations come to our property for their $ 79 air duct cleaning special. Brett, the manager, told us about the great things they were going to do for us (sanitizing, etc) and it sounded like an incredible deal.
The guys covered up the A/​C vents with masking tape and ran a high powered vacuum through them one-​by-​one. The whole process was pretty painless and took about an hour. When they were finished the employees tried to collect on a bill that was a few hundred dollars more than what we were expecting. When we disputed the amount, they got on the phone and let us speak to Brett. Apparently, the special services he mentioned during the first phone call were add-​ons. We couldn’t refuse the work since the it had already been done, but Brett was nice enough to reduce our bill to only $ 200.
I can’t speak as to the effectiveness of the work because we sold the house a month later, but it looked like the guys knew what they were doing. My only suggestion is to have your price in writing before having any work done. That way, you’ll eliminate any confusion.

Avoid duct cleaning scams! Thanks to Unilocal I found Mighty Ducts easily, after being quoted $ 1000 from a scam company (classic scam, the $ 60 coupon for full cleaning, but then they come and tell you your motor needs to be cleaned (which is correct but of course cost $ 250 extra), you got mold and you need a UV lamp to avoid future mold (which was BS). Mighty Ducts is great, honest and professional. They did a great job cleaning our ducts and telling us everything we need to know. For $ 387 I can feel good about the air coming out of our ducts now!
Oh By the way, this company is also called GQ Heating & Air… same phone #.

Company contacted us and offered a full refund. I asked for half because despite the mess the dryer does work better now and I don’t want something for nothing. I also don’t want to use Unilocal as a barter for free service. I appreciate that they are trying to do the right thing and improve their service.

Update. After 6 months my Father received a full refund. I am thankful that GQ did the right thing.
My recommendation for the company would be that they follow up with each and every customer to know exactly how their employess are treating the customer and if the customer is happy or not. The home improvement industry is full of scammers so you have to be especially diligent in assuring customers that they are getting honest work done by an honest company. People expecting to pay $ 80 for vent cleaning then are hit with a $ 900 quote is ridiculous… then the quote gets chopped in half, but takes the same amount of time as the $ 900 quote… not right and red flags went off with my father. He was taken advantage of by the GQ employees pure and simple.
My father appreciates the full refund, but will not be calling them for any future service.

We just received the same «cold call» the other day. The deal sounded good, but based upon these reviews, we will not use GQ Carpet Cleaning. Note to GQ: Your poor practices are costing you money.

I guess I got lucky with these guys. Melissa cold called me on Saturday and offered to clean my air ducts (up to 8 ducts) for $ 69.95 (Didn’t someone named Earl use to paint your car for this much money?) anyways, Melissa said Sal or Sol would be out between 10 and 12 the next day which was a Sunday. Melissa also said Sal or Sol would call first and let you know he was on his way! Melissa even asked for two numbers just in case I had stepped out. Well Sal or Sol never called or showed up. I gave up waiting for them around 1:30pm. Well today is Monday and I had just taken my daughter to get her eyes checked. I told her that those duct cleaning people blew me off yesterday and never showed up! I had not even finished my conversation with my daughter when Melissa called my mobile number to follow up. I told her no one ever showed up and thanks but no thanks for the lousy business. Based up on the other reviews I guess I got lucky!

Cold called me offering service and when I wouldn’t accept gave a rude comment and hung up. Called the office and they were unapologetic. I was skeptical of low price duct cleaning anyhow. Pretty classic method to get into your house to sell you more services. be careful before using.

Yes, one of the guys definately has an attitude! They don’t take time to clean the air duct. The vent covers were taken off, but they didn’t bother to clean up the cover and put the dusty cover back. The job was sloppy — they dent my stair handrail when moving the machine upstair, leaving marks on the wall, tearing off the paint and leaving dusts by the vents. Not recommanded… also, they only take cash or check.

Total bait and switch. Spoke to the guy on the phone who is really nice. Quoted me $ 170 to clean 10 air vents, 2 wool area rugs, and 2 bedrooms. This is in line with what other people quoted, so I figured it sounded reasonable.
When they got to the house, we wanted to add our 2 other bedrooms (for a total of 4 now). Mysteriously, the quote changed from $ 170 to over $ 500!
I called the guy in the office and he claims he never quoted me the price of $ 170. Then a few minutes into the conversation his story changed and he said he «forgot» to give me the correct price.
Read the reviews of GQ Carpet Cleaning in other areas (they have offices all over). Apparently this is a common practice for them. I consider myself an educated consumer and feel horrible that I was duped.
I strongly recommend getting a WRITTEN GUARANTEED QUOTE from them. Do not accept a verbal price!

If you enjoy rude service, this will be an excellent choice. The attitude starts right at the front door, when Mike said he wouldn’t have come if the work is just $ 99 worth. We asked him to clean the air ducts, but he said we need sanitizing, blowing, and cleaning. The work took less than 2 hours and the bill came to close to $ 900. Save yourself some money. The work they did could easily be handled by a 12 year old. It doesn’t take any skill to hold up a grass/​leaf blower to every vent. The effort wasn’t there, but the attitude was certainly there. The vents were still stuffed with dust when they left. In summary, unless there was an management change, there is no need to tolerate incompetence and rudeness.
