Restoring your doors better than when they were new!

So many people have either neglected their doors or have tried «band aid» methods that just haven’t held up. Stained exterior doors are the one thing on your home that needs to be kept up. Unlike paint, the materials in stains and finishes cannot be left without care for many years without serious degradation. My finish lasts for years and is beautiful as well.

Call me and I will be happy to explain my service and products I use.

My goal is, with each door I get from Yelp, to get a rave review and post pictures.

History

Established in 1970.

I started refinishing furniture back in the early 70’s. After having the furniture refinishing shop for a number of years, I began to specialize in applying what I knew to refinishing kitchens, which I did throughout most of the 80’s. In the 90’s I began to take on more diverse new projects like built in entertainment units and custom pieces of furniture with complex finishes like «piano» finishes, crackle, faux stone, marble and the like. For a while I worked extensively in Beverly Hills and that area until I couldn’t stand the drive from Irvine anymore and determined there is just too much to do here, why drive?

I’ve pretty much always worked alone (too much of a perfectionist) and I just work on one job at a time. I enjoy communicating with my clients to achieve the results they are going to be thrilled with and will be happy to recommend my work to others (I’ve never advertised before). I have lots of recent referrals and pictures available if you want them.

I was born in Laguna Beach a long time ago. Grew up In LaHabra Heights, got drafted, went to Vietnam, came home became a Christian, started refinishing furniture, married my present wife, had two great daughters, moved a couple times and have lived in Irvine since 1987. Is that a run-​on sentence?

We recently did a complete remodel of our home’s exterior and our last step was to decide on replacing our entryway doors or refinishing them.
Our designer let us know that our doors had a lot of value and would be a wonderful touch to refinish the home’s original doors while saving thousands on buying new one of the same quality.
We are so happy we did! The doors and the threshold are gorgeous, I can’t even beleive I am walking up to the same house! I loved Ed form the moment we spoke on the phone, he is a great guy and an extremely talented craftsman. He educated us on his detailed process of refinishing and then meticulously executed everything step. 100% trustworthy and 100% a joy to work with. It was great to finally have someone that does what they say they will do. On time, professional, and a true craftsman. Ed restored our front mahogany door back to original condition. In today’s contractor world it is hard to find a true craftsman, and I rarely write a review. If there were six stars that is what this company would have got. Price maybe a little higher, but worth every penny. This company is «AS GOOD AS IT GETS».

My oak front door and sidelights needed to be re-​finished, actually totally stripped down to the bare wood which had never been done since it was installed in 1992. I had it superficially redone but not like it should have been done. After contacting several refinishing people I was told it would take two days. I knew this was not the total strip down. I am so thankful I found Ed Arthur of Doors By Invision. It took five days from prep to putting the hardware back on but it is done right and my door looks better than it did new.

My fiancé and I were considering buying new front doors since our front doors had a lot of weather damage from the sun and rain. We actually got a couple front door replacement estimates which would have cost us so much money to replace our double front entrance doors and these companies even commented on how beautiful our current doors were. When I called Ed he was very pleasant and personable to talk to. Looking at his work online, my fiancé and I were sold on having Ed refinish our doors. After all was said and done Ed did an amazing job and made our double doors look as good as new. Better yet, we saved so much money not having to replace our doors. I would recommend Ed to everyone. The large oak entry door and sidelights on a house we recently bought were extremely weathered and looked terrible; the finish had been completely destroyed by sun exposure and water damage, and we really thought the door might be too far gone to fix. We’d talked to another guy about refinishing it, but that guy wanted to take the door off the hinges and take it to his shop for several days, leaving a big piece of plywood in place of the door and making it impossible for us to use our front door for that time.
I emailed pics of the door to Ed. He said he could make it as good as new, sent before-​and-​after pictures of similar doors he’d refinished, and gave me an estimate via email. Ed said he’d be able to do all the work with the door in place, which was great –we’d still be able to go in and out. We set up a date for him to come out and start the project.
It only took him about four days to complete, and the door seriously does look brand new. I am amazed at how beautiful the wood was underneath all that faded, blistered, corroded old varnish! He also matched the finish on the inside of the door perfectly, as you can see from the «threshold– before and after» pics posted here. The Chino oak door pics are also of our door, before and after — hard to believe it’s the same door! Ed did meticulous work, and when we compared the cost of replacing the door and sidelights to what it cost to have Ed refinish it, it was a true bargain.
I highly recommend Ed for any wood refinishing work you may need. He’s a true craftsman, and you will be amazed at how beautiful it will look when he’s done. He is professional, prompt, perfectionist, personable, and proud of his work. So Five P’s… oops, Five Stars! :)

We were looking into replacing our sun damaged front entry doors. To replace our entry doors would have costs $ 9,000 to $ 10,000 so instead we looked into finding someone to refinish the doors. Ed did a great job of refinishing the doors. Now the outside looks brand new, and the costs was only 25% of a brand new door. Ed completed the job in 5 days and was very detailed with his work. He also did a good job of preventing dust getting into the house. His quality of work is excellent.

My mahogany front door was in desperate need of repair after years of sun damage. After talking to several companies I was ready to just paint the door. Luckily I found Ed on here. I emailed him some pictures of the doors and he sent me an estimate.

long-​term custom refinished. I saw it steadily progress during the four days he worked on-​site and I had convenient security as he locked it in place every afternoon.

After much research to find someone to refinish my mahogany front doors, I found Ed and could not be happier!
He was extremely professional and detailed. He gave me a quote via messaging, as I sent him pictures and dimensions of my door and transom. Once he began work, it took about 5 days to complete. He even filled in the wood grain for a smooth finish. The finish is amazing!
Now my doors look better than they did when they were new. I don’t need to worry about water and sun damage, because of the high quality products used to refinish them.

Our front door was completed by Ed today and it looks fantastic. The door is mahogany and had been worn by the sun over the years and was in dire need of refinishing. I shopped around for a new door, and with other refinishing companies, and I am extremely pleased we made the investment in Doors by Invision.

Ed did all of the wood finishing on our custom home 10 years ago, and comes back periodically when we remodel or need touch ups. His work is always excellent. He leaves everything looking better than how he found it. He has painted amazing faux surfaces to match real onyx wall panels. He has finished victorian bead board wood walls, molded resin baseboards and custom carved crown moldings. He has painted electric switch plates, speaker covers and vents to match real wood and marble. He did a custom tea stain in our country french kitchen. I wish everyone we hired was as conscientious and careful and creative as ED is. I would recommend him to the pickiest customer without hesitation. I am so pleased to refer him that I am also sending pictures of his work for all to appreciate
