Did not have appointment. Went in on a Saturday afternoon. Met Jetson. He is an audio engineer. He gave us a tour of the audio gallery. $ 100k speakers, $ 30,000k cables… That’s the high-​end. But they also cary the best of what you can find at a BestBuy — Sennheiser headsets, Martin Logan speakers, Chronus integrated amplifier, Cambridge digital integrated. So you can put a system together for under $ 2,000 or over $ 500,000. I will definitely skip BestBuy when I am ready to upgrade my analog and digital systems. Jetson was very knowledgable and respected my $ 2,000 budget just like it was a $ 100,000 budget.

Digital Ear gets five star rating from me because 1) they provide excellent customer service — a very polite staff that are helpful in answering all of my questions and concerns; 2) they perform numerous services for ordinary folks, like myself, who don’t have the complex knowledge required for technological system installation; 3) I take pride in the updated fashion in which I live, this includes my electronics. One could spend hours pursuing the showroom or peering into their extensive portfolio accumulating ideas for home (or office) audiovisual projects! My mind is flooding with thoughts on my next upgrade to help maintain and enhance the updated, modern ambiance of my home which includes wholesome audio and video with the utmost clarity. Movie nights are my favorite!
At Digital Ear the broad spectrum of services these experts provide include everything from making complex systems user friendly through various pathways (i.e. remote access, lighting control, and so much more), to technical system instillation that would blow the mind of any «average Joe». Large or small, if you’re looking for an upgrade don’t be fooled by products from other places with packaging that illustrates «easy to setup» guidelines, as this is hardly ever the case. Plus, anything bought from large multipurpose vendors never has the quality worth your hard earned money! Believe me. I have made this mistake and ended up with junk that doesn’t pass the test of time. Additionally, other seemingly tech savvy electronic instillation companies have never sat right with me. In part because the sales personnel pounce on you as though you’re prey. At Digital Ear the gentleman who helped me wasn’t pushy, understood my budget, and seemed genuinely interested in leading me down the path to a quality home theater.

I bought a RUnco plasma 50″ screen from Digital Ear. I was told it was a 1080p model and found out it was 720p after the outboard scaler/​processor broke. Luckily Runco warrantied the processor with a new updated 1080p model.

I have tried to be patient and resolve problems with Shaz, owner of Digital Ear, for years now. I never wanted to take my complaints public but that changed when he behaved so badly as to raise his voice, talk down to me, insult me, and even threaten me. Here’s a brief history of the installation that lead to such bad behavior. But first I just want to say that this post is not about what happened during the installation. I mention the installation only to set the stage for what this post is really about, which is how badly Shaz behaved.
During the installation two problems occurred. My preamp was damaged and the tech said something that indicated that Shaz had incorrectly stated a specification at the time of the sale (I may not have bought it otherwise). The tech told me that he would talk to the manufacturer about both issues the next day. Things like this happen and that’s not a problem if handled well. The problem is that it was not handled well at all. I was treated very badly.
Shaz told me that he wanted to bill me for the repair rather than honor the warranty and he also refused to admit that the specification that he recommended conflicted with the manufacturer’s recommendations. When Shaz heard his tech trying to help me get the unit covered under warranty and verify the correct settings (which conflicted with what Shaz recommended), he flipped and grilled both of us. He called me a pain in the ass and demanded that I never speak to anyone in his company except him. I suppose that’s within his rights as it’s his company. But I certainly did not appreciate being yelled at and being called a pain in the ass, and I did not feel like a valued customer for Shaz wanting to be bill me about $ 1000 to repair what he could have tried to get repaired for free under warranty (I called the the manufacturer directly and they honored the warranty).
Now it gets downright scary and the situation approaches the surreal, like an Alfred Hitchcock movie. When I hung up the phone because he was yelling and lecturing, he immediately kept calling back over and over until I picked up the phone. I picked up the phone just to tell him to stop calling. But he kept calling and continued to yell and lecture me more on voice mail. I told Shaz that I never wanted to talk to him again and would only correspond in writing. Soon after that Shaz showed up at my door unannounced. I couldn’t believe this was happening. What do I have to do to get this man to respect my boundaries?
On top of these horrific personal and business experiences, Shaz is now threatening me with a law suit in excess of $ 100K for posting a negative review on Unilocal.When the problems were just business related, I tried to resolve them without Unilocal.But when Shaz behaved so badly as to raise his voice, talk down to me, insult me, call me names, and even threaten me, I felt that it was beyond just a personal/​business issue and it crossed over to become a matter of public interest. Hence this post.
Thanks to Unilocal for making this possible. If it had not been for Unilocal,I do not know how I would have been able to effectively tell enough others how badly Shaz has treated a customer, one who spent over $ 30K (closer to $ 40K) in his store.

Just a note — I sauntered back to the store recently just to check out their gear and Shaz gave me an excellent quote on a pair of speakers I had my eye on for some time. I’m not sure I want to get them but I spent a great deal of time auditioning them in the store. I’ll have to see if anyone wants my old stuff first! Thanks again Digital Ear for treating even your most broke clients very well.

I’m sitting listening to the system that Digital Ear installed. I could not be happier. I contacted them by phone on a morning in December after Christmas. Within 2 hours they had sent an extremely knowledgeable technician to my home. Within a day they had assembled the equipment and had installed it in my home so that I had it ready for a New Years Eve gathering with my family.
They were extremely careful of my newly cleaned carpet. I took the chance of paying a substantial amount of money for a series of components on the recommendation of both Chaz and the technician Who installed them (I’m sorry for not remembering his name). Every piece was perfectly selected, installed and calibrated.
I’m a professional in this field. I’m a professor at a local university with years of experience in media as a professional cinematographer. The level of professionalism, knowledge and just plain courteousness of the folks at Digital Ear is in my opinion second to none I’ve ever experienced.

My first experience with Digital Ear was to get a set of speakers repaired which I had purchased from a sketchy east coast vendor online several years ago. I turned to Digital Ear for the repair, which was easy. The tech’s at Digital Ear even noticed an issue with my center channel’s internal driver wiring that I would have never been able to identify. Kudos to them on diligence.
More recently, I purchased an upgrade for my entire audio system with Paradigm Studio speakers. I too worked with Shaz who is as knowledgeable as they come in all areas of home theater. The entire experience was first class. Shaz made two separate trips to my house (even after hours) for basic consultations and brainstorming future room conversions for a projection system.
There aren’t many high-​end audio shops around, but anyone within range of Digital ear need not look elsewhere. Thumbs up.

They put together an amazing system for my parents, it is phenomenal. What was important is that the system is simple to use, and with the remote programming they did, it made it easy enough for my «techno-​phone» parents. Shaz really knows his stuff when it comes to configuring the optimal system for any room and even my budget.

Digital ear is the ultimate in home audio. They know there product, its quality, and what’s going to be the best for you. I went to Digital Ear in hopes to get a system that I liked, I ended up getting something way better and completely off the chart. Digital Ear listened to what I wanted and led me in the right direction. The best part was I could ask all the stupid questions I wanted and they didn’t make me feel small for asking, not once. They were a pleasure to work with (with, because they’re involved the entire process WITH you and not for you). If your serious about customer service and your love of audio, contact them.

I found this company to be on target. The staff was knowledgeable technically. I worked with Shaz who helped me through which systems worked best in my home theater. If you’re looking to find high quality, long lasting, impeccable gear, this is the place to go. I actually went in with something specific in mind but Shaz was really honest and I ended up saving more money then I initially intended on spending. He put in a lot of time to talk to me and allowed me to listen to the equipment as long as I wanted without being pushy and checking up on me every 5 minutes. I’ve also contacted him via email and even if it’s on a weekend, he responds immediately that way or even by phone.
Overall I rate this place 5 stars because of the service and the clean installation they did within my house.

I had Digital Ear install a home theater in our house. And they have the MOST amazing service. I can’t tell you how many times, after they installed the theater, I called them to ask questions. Not once did they get frustrated with me. (I’m a newbie so you can imagine how annoying I must’ve been) Their installation staff was also very polite. They were quick installing the theater but also very clean with their process and generally around the house.
They have the best selection for home theater equipement. And the staff (Shaz) was awesome. Wasn’t pushy at all and was well educated on all the equipement. I shopped around and noticed that their prices were either significantly lower, or right on target. No ripping you off here.
Also if you’re looking for something rare, this place is def somewhere you should put on your list to check out.
