History
Established in 2015.
Northside Bistro opened its doors March 30, 2015 in a historic Northside Iowa City building on the corner of Linn and Market Streets. Formerly housing such businesses as the Haunted Bookshop, Real Records, a television shop and more, it has modernized along with Iowa City over the years. The basement holds some of the town’s secrets, including a bricked-over underground tunnel.
Today, the Northside Bistro has retained some of the building’s charm by exposing original brick walls and piping. Reclaimed wood and sheet metal from two area barns adds to the rustic charm. Interior design and restaurant concept is the brainchild of owner (and Iowa City chef) Andy Diep.
