Ten Inverness Way

Generally not a huge BnB fan, as they tend to have ancient quilts and carpet, but not at Ten Inverness! This is a magical get-​away, with a stone walk-​way taking you to a peaceful reprieve. Shoes off, hard-​wood floors, a warm open living-​space with fire place, blankets, coffee table and plenty of seating for mid-​day to late-​night reading. Long wooden kitchen table, and small library off to the side. Fresh local ingredients used each morning for a stunning breakfast along with evening wine and cheese. The bedding kept us a bit lazier than we would have liked but it was so delicious and cozy. The heater was a bit crummy and the rooms are a bit small (for the price), otherwise I would give a 5 star rating.

Searched for a classy place to take relatives from Europe. Could not have made a better choice. Wonderful hosts, charming rooms, relaxing atmosphere. Oh, and most wonderful breakfast. Hope we can come back soon. Highly recommend it

I almost do not want to write a review, because I don’t want them to fill up. I will be back. This place is awesome, the breakfast is from the hen house and the garden out back.
The attention to detail could not be better. These folks due a perfect, wonderful, inviting, relaxing, comfortable, peaceful job of making you feel welcome. ENJOY…

Came here after doing a grueling two day show. Perfect place to unwind. Very comfortable clean rooms. The living room is large and welcoming. The breakfast is so so delicious. Home made bread, freshly baked cake, cookies and creative egg dishes. I think they might want to consider a restaurant also! So rare that there is good coffee… it was excellent. Looking forward to returning.

I am not a regular b&b going type. In general I fear having to talk to other people with forced cheeriness, but Ten Inverness Way is actually a refuge from the rest of the world. Alex and Laura float through the house unobtrusively and quietly. Our interactions offered fresh honey from their new hive and no forced group hugs.
The inn is beautifully designed to be calm, undemanding, and provide whatever you might be wanting. As others have mentioned, there’s refreshments at all hours in a beautifully appointed room with windows on all sides. There are puzzles, newspapers, guidebooks, and a book of local restaurant menus.
The individual rooms are light, white, impeccably clean. We were greeted with a congratulatory bottle of mead since we were on honeymoon. The bathroom was well laid out with plenty of fresh towels and lots of counter space to spread out. Yep, walls are kind of thin, but it didn’t bother us much.

My girlfriend and I have been here twice and we recommended it to multiple friends who also concur that this place is the real –bed and breakfast– deal.
This to me, is the quintessential bed and breakfast experience:
— Well-​kept rooms with cottage style
— Communal Home-​made breakfast. (Avocado, Speck, with a sunny side up egg on home-​made bread!)
— Cookies, Cheese, and Wine in the afternoon
Alex and Laura are the owners and operators — a young couple who care about your experience. They are as present as they need to be, but stay out of your business unless solicited. Not to go into great detail about every small thing that they do, but it is clear that they care. They go above and beyond to make your stay special.
The first time I stayed here, I had to arrange lodging for multiple people, all of whom could not fit into Ten Inverness. I got a good look at some of the other options:
— Ten Inverness — Romantic and relaxing couple’s get-​away. A real treat.
— Motel Inverness — More of a nice communal rustic motel/​cabin/​lodge. Great view of the bay. Nice staff
— Dancing Coyote Beach — A beach cottage with private kitchen. This place has seen a bit more wear and tear, but it would be great for the kids. No interaction with landlords… its just a house.
The house is a little bit loud, but it’s an old house with style and class. That’s why you stay here and not the Marriott.
For inexpensive dinner, try Perry’s Deli down the street. One of the best Reubens I’ve had.

The perfect place to stay if you want to get away from the city for a few nights and enjoy beautiful Point Reyes. Great location with lots of incredible hiking trails and ocean/​Bay views nearby. It’s far enough out there to feel like having a break from civilization, but still close enough to it to get dinner in Point Reyes Station or something like that.
The Bed & Breakfast is the most cozy and welcoming one I have ever stayed at. Every room we’ve stayed at (three out of the five so far) was very clean and decorated very pretty and with individual touches. The common area or the deck in the back are super comfortable and great to hang out if you come with more people. Also the perfect place to rest and enjoy the delicious fresh cookies each afternoon after a long day outside. Followed by an exquisite wine and cheese selection of course. All complimentary.
But all of this wouldn’t be nearly as convincing if it wasn’t for the Innkeepers Alex and Laura. They really make you feel welcome from the moment you step in and were always trying to help us out with whichever questions we had.
Their breakfasts are MOST AMAZING and different every day, always with a freshly squeezed juice, something hearty and something sweet. And always seasonal, local and fresh, which is pretty amazing if you think about a warm Strawberry Rhubarb Galette to only name one example…
Long story short, we will be back! A stay at Ten Inverness Way is a real treat, that I highly recommend to everyone who’s looking for a break from hectic day to day life.

Gorgeous little B&B in the heart of Point Reyes.
The entrance is deceptive as the main living space is actually up a flight of stairs and is a cozy and light-​filled room which is setup as the living/​dining/​relaxation space and is very well decorated. As others have said, in the afternoons first cookies are served, and then wine and cheese. These are lovely touches.
Our room was small but entirely adequate and well furnished. One tiny complaint is that the bathroom fixtures really didn’t live up to the rest of the residence — they were clearly a throwback to an earlier incarnation of the inn (they looked like they were from the 80s) and were poorly plumbed. The cold water tap leaked when the hot was turned on, as well as being setup to turn counterclockwise. The shower dripped quite badly (not the best for drought ridden California) and the showerhead itself resulted in a pretty «meh» experience, though to be fair the hot water was plentiful.
The breakfasts were among the highlights of the experience — served with fresh squeezed orange/​carrot/​ginger juice which made my husband want to buy a juicer immediately.
There was a large party of guests staying in three of the five rooms when we were there and they were constantly apologising for their noise — which we never heard. They informed us they had stayed up chatting in the living room until 11:30 one night and despite being located just at the top of the stairs, we didn’t hear a peep. We also didn’t hear a thing from the other rooms either, so I was certainly more than happy with the sound proofing in the old building.
I highly recommend Ten Inverness Way for a lovely, relaxing getaway.

Extremely clean rooms, very nice inn keepers who were very helpful with things to do and places to see. New owners I believe.
Breakfast was amazing 5 star quality! A lot of food.
Overall great experience will be coming back. Perfect location to downtown inverness.

I highly recommended Ten Inverness Way after only staying the first of our two night trip. We arrived at 5:30pm to fresh cookies, cheese and crackers, and a delicious berry juice when we checked in. Laura immediately greeted us at the front door and showed us our room right away so we could begin settling in. My first thoughts after arriving were about how much I enjoyed the décor and layout of the house. The building is over 100 years old and it’s best features are shown off while still holding a very young and fresh atmosphere due to color scheme and accents. There are fresh flowers lining almost all the windows and tables and a quaint library room just off the main living room. The garden outside in the front and back is lush and secluded with many places to sit and enjoy the fresh air. Our room is cosy and private and we arrived to find an octopus made of towels which we (mostly jokingly) requested on our form. Breakfast this morning was amazing with orange/​carrot/​ginger juice, fresh coffee, freshly baked strawberry pastry, quiche n and a fresh fruit salad (garnished with flower petals). While eating Alex was very helpful with answer questions about the area and printed out his favorite list of hiking trails for us. I am very excited to explore the area today and enjoy another night on this greay B&B. We will definitely return here… probably not soon enough as this has already neen such a relaxing and wonderful trip. Thanks Laura and Alex for such a great experience so far :)

This is a delightful and peacefull location that has been recently acquired by new owners who know what they are doing when it comes to running a B & B. The atmosphere of the establishment is fresh, clean and «unfussey» while keeping the original historic nature of this home intact. Our bed was very comfortable and I was happy to have a good selection of pillows — there is something for everyone’s taste here. They also have a small patio in the rear that is nice for relaxing. The breakfasts were tasty with nice presentations and included freshly made juices each morning. Fresh cookies and cheeses were available in the afternoon. The new owners have dispensed with the «respect our checkout time» signage and I will mention that I thought the location to be very quite. Our room included a heater and I believe I also saw an air conditioner, although we didn’t need to use either. The wifi connection was nice and speedy as well. I can highly recommend Ten Inverness Way.

It was our 10 year anniversary. We couldn’t ask for a more perfect get away weekend spot. The place is nicely tucked away, rooms are cozy, the breakfast was yummy, and the cheese and cookies in afternoon were an excellent touch. We spent the day hiking and the afternoon lounging in the garden. Would definitely make it back. Thank you.

Very nice facility, with one or two exceptions. Friendly staff. Great location, except…
Our room was reasonably big, and quite comfortable. Bathroom big & well arranged. Cookies, wine & cheese were quite nice, and the breakfast (German apple pancakes, turkey bacon, cantaloupe, yogurt, granola, juice, coffee…) more than adequate. The common areas were sunny and welcoming.
Down sides: in spite of the convenient yet somewhat secluded location, I could hear a lot more traffic at night and early morning than I might have expected. It was also a bit hot & stuffy in our room, even with a window open all night. The walls were paper thin, to the point where I could hear people in the next room urinating (sorry – no tactful way to say that). I also felt a bit like an intruder, as there were both signage and rules that seemed a bit over the top, including a sign at the top of the stairs saying, in essence, don’t cause an embarrassing situation and reading (in part): «Please respect our 11 AM Checkout Time… checkout means not just leaving your room, but the inn…»
I realize that some people will take advantage of a situation and overstay their welcome, but this sign isn’t what a traveler wants to see almost first thing upon arrival. I also felt like the staff we interacted with or observed weren’t all that forthcoming with information about the area, either due to lack of knowledge or a busy schedule.
In spite of these relatively minor gripes, I’d love to stay at Ten Inverness Way again.

A completely wonderful stay during Thanksgiving week! Ten Inverness Way is a beautiful B&B with comfortable, cozy rooms, a lovely common room and library, lots of outdoor seating, delicious breakfasts. We especially enjoyed our time with Teri, the proprietor. She made us feel completely at home, had great restaurant and hiking suggestions, and accommodated our standup paddleboards in the back yard with zero fuss.
Centrally located — just a few minutes drive to Point Reyes Station in one direction, and Heart’s Desire Beach in the other. We had a great time driving out to Point Reyes Lighthouse and the Tomales Point trail to the north. Some other guests did the night bioluminescence paddle — I would like to try that some time.
We had not stayed in Inverness before and didn’t know what to expect. We had a wonderful time! And we look forward to staying at Ten Inverness Way again.

What a beautiful B&B! We were spontaneous, booking a room there on a spare of the moment. So glad we did. It’s quaint, very clean, warm and friendly. The food was absolutely delicious and the hostess (owner) was the mostess! (I can’t remember her name, maybe Terry?) We certainly hope to go back sooner than later!

My boyfriend and I had a great experience staying at Ten Inverness Way B and B this past weekend! As a couple of the other reviews mention there were chocolate chip cookies out when we arrived, wine and cheese available in the evening and a delicious hot breakfast in the morning! We stayed in the White Gate Room; it was quaint, clean and comfortable-​everything we were looking for! There are menus for local restaurants in the living room and Terry provided a park map and ideas for what to in the area. The teeny tiny town of Inverness is adorable and all the locals were so friendly. I don’t want this place to be overrun but I would highly recommend it for those looking for a quiet getaway.

My husband and I have stayed at Ten Inverness way 3 times together, him at least 4 times. I really like Terri and the house and I LOVE the town. Terri always serves an excellent breakfast and I’ve never have had the same meal there. The rooms are always clean, comfortable, (as is the house) and charming. I love the garden (best in the spring). I love this whole area! It is just my favorite place to stay in northern California. This visit was nice as we got to chat with some of the other guests in the living room where Terri serves cheese, wine and home made cookies in the afternoon. I highly recommend calling ahead for reservations (or email/​online). Though you have to park on the street, it is residential and there’s two or three spaces in front of the house, it is never been a problem — It’s Inverness — there’s no parking meters or annoying signs hidden by trees. Lots of great walking around and Point Reyes is just a five minute drive away. It’s my favorite small town in the country.
Our most recent visit was for our ninth anniversary (March 20 – 22, 2012).

The first thing I noticed when I walked into the B&B was the smell of fresh cookies baking. And then I found out that they were gluten-​free, baked just for me. Talk about a warm reception! From that moment on, I knew I’d love this place.
This is a quiet B&B with quaint rooms and a pretty garden (right outside of our window). Teri, the owner, is super friendly and welcoming. After this morning’s gluten-​free banana nut muffins, I warned Teri that she might get an influx of gluten-​free people after my review. She said she’d be happy to have more of us and that there are so many more options for gluten-​free foods these days that it’s a lot easier to accommodate us. Right on.
I almost never get gluten-​free breakfast foods unless I make them myself. This really feels like a mini-​vacation! This is a B&B that you don’t want to miss.

Recently, my family rented the entire bed and breakfast for a delightful weekend of pleasant conversation, psychological warfare, and hiking. Despite our less than ideal behavior, the proprietor never wavered from her role as a gracious host. In the morning, we enjoyed scrumptious breakfasts. In the afternoon, we enjoyed cheese, wine and homemade cookies.
Ten Inverness offers cozy rooms and generous sitting areas. The proprietor is engaging without being intrusive, and she appeared to be unperturbed by even the most cantankerous members of my family. I would highly recommend this place to anyone.

Since the last review for Ten Inverness Way was posted in 2008, I wasn’t sure what to expect. The pictures on the official website for Ten Inverness Way are accurate — the place is as cozy and quaint as the pictures make the inn out to be. Terri was warm and kind and served excellent breakfast every morning. It was such a treat to have breakfast in the morning, cookies in the afternoon, and wine and cheese around 5:30pm, on a daily basis.
I also loved walking around Inverness and there were so many great hikes around! I’ve explored Tomales Bay before, but this was such a treat to be in the middle of it all, for several days.
