History

Established in 1983.

It was 1982. Harold E. Sparks, a handsome young man from

Hamilton, Ohio leaves the security of a foreman position at

Fisher Body, a division of General Motors, and moves to

Inglewood, CA to fulfill his dream of opening a soul food

restaurant.

«The Serving Spoon» TM

The idea of providing excellent food that is not only

«Love At First Bite», but a place where customers feel like

family, quickly caught on. «The Spoon,» as often called by

many, has served customers ranging from entertainers to

politicians to the neighbor next door.

All in the spirit of making you feel at home, with food

that’s good for the soul.

Harold’s daughter and son-in-law now own and operate

the family business, and are developing «Urban Eateries» in key markets throughout the United States.
