Jimmy and LA Smog Test were truly helpful to me. My car failed the first test but Jimmy told me that if the car did not pass I could come back and have it redone for only $ 10. A week later I returned after servicing the car and it passed! Jimmy was very polite, respectful and courteous, giving me bottled water while I waited. I recommend LA Smog to anyone who wants a honest smog check.

This place is an absolute fraud and the owner «Jimmy»? is a cheat. Do yourself a favor and take your car somewhere else. There are plenty of honest places nearby where they actually care about their customers and won’t cheat you.
I’m a home car mechanic so I know my car. I took it to «Jimmy» on 12÷22÷15, knowing that it might not pass, based on its past history. But seeing that Jimmy offered a free retest, I was confident that if it failed I could do whatever repairs were necessary.
The car did fail, and just barely. AFTER paying Jimmy (he takes cash only, no credit cards or checks, which I now understand why), he says «Ah yes, free retest. But you must bring car back within 15 days». What??? Why within 15 days? Xmas is in 3 days and New Years is coming up. One of my planned repairs is to add a fuel injector cleaner, and I won’t even be able to to go through a tank of gas within 15 days. I tell him «I wish you would have told me about the 15 day restriction BEFORE we did the smog check. That way I would have waited until after New Years». Jimmy says «Ah, you my friend. 1 or 2 days late make no difference, I take care of you». I said «It’s not a matter of 1 or 2 days. I’m NOT going to be able to get the repairs done in anywhere near 15 days». Trying to keep my composure, I ask Jimmy if he counts all the holidays as days. He blows me off.
Keep in mind that the «15 day rule» is ALL Jimmy’s doing. It’s not a State reg. It’s just a SCAM that Jimmy has invented in order to steal people’s money. I later did some research and found that other than Jimmy’s shop, I couldn’t find one Smog Station ANYWHERE that puts a 15 day limit on the free retest.
I put in the fuel additive and diagnose the car (new plugs, wires, dist cap, etc). 15 days go by and I still haven’t gone through the tank of gas so I call the support # for CRC (the fuel additive co). The additive is called «Guaranteed To Pass». I ask «What will happen if I have my car smog checked and the product is still in the gas tank»? They say «The car will fail with very high (worse) readings. You MUST go through the tank of gas with the additive and then fill up again with a „clean“ tank of gas». Ok this sucks. But my «15 days» for Jimmy are up. So I drive my car to Jimmy and ask him if I HAVE TO get my car checked today or risk losing the free retest. He says «Yes, today your last day for free retest». So I get the car retested. And of course it fails as predicted, So, Jimmy got me. He fu**ed me real good. And over just a few measly dollars. WHAT A CHEAP TOTAL LOSER HE IS.
On 2÷1÷16 I’m finally ready to get my car tested again. I’ve gone through the tank of gas and I’m feeling confident! So before taking my car to a REAL, HONEST Smog Station and PAYING ALL OVER AGAIN, I decide to go back to Jimmy and see if he’ll do the right thing, which is to give me a free retest now that the repairs have actually been done to my car.
The first thing noticeable about Jimmy’s shop is. It’s empty! NOT ONE car being tested. Haha! So Jimmy is busy doing what he does best. Which is apparently waiting for customers, as no one patronizes his creepy, dishonest shop. I explain in detail to Jimmy what happened a few weeks ago. I tell him that the only issue I have with him is that HE HAS A RESPONSIBILITY TO TELL CUSTOMERS ABOUT HIS 15 DAY RESTRICTION *BEFORE* THEY GET A CAR TESTED, NOT *AFTER*. He either doesn’t understand me, or he pretends not to. But he does become very argumentative.
He’s all pumped up and ready for a good fight. I tell him that I simply need to get my car tested and I’m giving him a chance to do the right thing. He again «doesn’t understand» what I’m telling him. So, we go into a loop. And no matter how many times I tell him that HE HAS A RESPONSIBILITY bla bla bla, each time he pretends not to understand and responds with nonsense.
Upon departing, I tell Jimmy «You don’t HAVE TO do anything for me. But if you hose me on this, I’m going to let the world know how you do business». I say «The internet, Unilocal,all that stuff». Jimmy understands the word « Unilocal» and becomes enraged. He says «You threaten me!?». He then assumes a pseudo martial arts fighting stance, arms cocked up like a D-​list actor trying to play a karate master. He keeps repeating «You threaten me?! You threaten my business?! I no afraid of you!!!». Moving towards my car I say «I’m not threatening you or your business. I’m just being very nice and asking you for the last time to do the right thing». And with that I drove off, hopefully never to see Jimmy again.
AVOID THIS SHOP LIKE THE PLAGUE. JIMMY IS A CROOK, as I have just outlined. There are TONS of HONEST Smog Stations within walking distance of this hellhole.

Its Thursday, September 3^rd at 10:30am, surprise! The shop is closed! I tried calling the number posted on the sign and guess what, it was a fax machine. Might as well close your shop! Goodluck with your business. Lol

Very quick, and affordable. I showed up unannounced late afternoon and they took care of me quickly. In and out 10 mins. Can’t ask for more.

LA Smog will take care of you. I was in and out in under 20 min with a full smog check. The guy running the place is very professional he even check the tire pressure on all my tires. He went above and beyond. Highly recommended.

This Chinese guy is cool. He only charged me $ 40.00 including all cert’s fees, electronic Transfers too and taxes included. $ 40 bucks out the door. I will go again. He has a small parking lot but he definitely is honest and no bull with price gouging. There’s a burger place, El Pollo Local, and 7 – 11 store, 1 block away if you decide to eat.
