Maravelas is the best caterer!!! Hands down. Maria is super easy and nice to work with. The food is just amazing. The staff… Is amazing so helpful and wonderful. Used Maravelas for my wedding in October and have recommended them to two more people. Sooo well priced as well.

Chicken versuvio amazing just the right amount of spices. Not fatty
Roast beef very tender
Roasted potatoes delish all cooked through and non burnt

Amazing did everything I wanted stood out in the October cold. Very professional listened to who could have something and who couldn’t absolutely hands down will hire them again. They stayed and help to clean up after the wedding. Our venue had to be broom sweeper, all my «helpers» were drunk so in my wedding dress I was cleaning the floor. One of the waitresses told me to sit down poured me another drink and took the broom from me absolutely wonderful. I am getting into the wedding business and I will suggest Maravelas to all my brides!

We hired Maravela’s to cater our wedding at the Viking Park Dance Hall. They work with the park district and knew this location very well, and it showed. The # 1 important item to me on my wedding was to have delicious food, and Maravela’s blew that away.
It’s 6 months past my wedding, and I still have family/​friends commenting on how awesome and flavorful the food was. The veggie lasagna was OUT of this world.
This company does a FANTASTIC job communicating (Maria is particular is amazing) and knowing what is important for a wedding is key. I was nervous that it wouldn’t all come together, but the tables, centerpieces, and even the BUFFET were decorated so perfectly. I used them for food, and for chair covers/​bows.
The second thing that really makes this company stand out, is their wait staff. We had a personal member assigned just to the head table, and she was amazing. Anytime, I passed any of the staff, they all commented on my dress or remarked how happy my guests seemed and not a single person didn’t acknowledge or greet me and my guests.
Hiring this company is the BEST thing you can do for your wedding, and they also have a very good venue to do on-​site weddings as well!

Had our wedding reception here and this was the best decision we could’ve made! Maria was especially helpful to me through the whole wedding planning process and was there whenever I had questions. The day of the wedding everything was above and beyond! Food was delicious, staff was great! It was the best experience my husband and I could’ve had for our wedding night! We recommend to everyone!

Maravela’s was our caterer for our wedding at the Byron Colby barn in August of 2013 — Kim at the barn is who recommended this company for our needs.
My wife and I had went and did some taste testing there, and at the time lived an hour and a half south. When we first arrived quite a bit early, we let them know we’re here, but we’ll wait until our time comes up.
Instead, one of the owners grabbed a fresh piece of chicken for us to snack on until our taste testing time came up.
Maria was the lady who helped us with choosing our table settings, the food, and everything else. She even went ahead and found the colors for our wedding which they didn’t have in stock at first.
We figured the taste testing would be good, but wasn’t sure about the day of.
The entire crew that Maravela’s sent were extremely friendly, and their food was simply amazing. Everybody loved it, and people were asking for cards for the business.
It’s good new that this place doesn’t double as a restaurant, my wife and I would be obese eating there constantly!

So I visited Maravela’s last night for a New Year’s Eve party and wow was I impressed! We trekked here all the way from the city during a snow storm and made it too late to enjoy the dinner portion but it turned out they had saved a few hot plates for us to enjoy! How incredibly thoughtful and truly amazing service!
There were two bars available with the most friendliest bartenders serving up some delicious cocktails!
The DJ played an awesome assortment of music and had no gripes about taking requests!
Thanks for a great start to the new year Maravela’s! Can’t wait for next year!

Maravelas catered my off site wedding (at Byron Colby Barn) and everything about this experience was perfect. Maravelas ordered and delivered my linnens, silverware, plates etc. Maria, who coordinates the planning process, is wonderful to work with. She is very very good at what she does. She also is very familiar with the Byron Colby Barn set up. The food was delicious, we had a simple veggie pasta and grilled chicken for entrees. We got lots of compliments on the food. Everything they did was just perfect. (and I don’t use the word perfect very often) The servers/​staff that worked our wedding that night were beyond accommodating and helpful.

I came to Maravela’s as the DJ for a wedding. What a wonderful experience! The staff was excellent & most helpful & the food was really excellent. The dancing lady bartender was a hoot! BUT the best thing about Maravela’s is Maria. She is a sweetheart! Her experience & calm demeanor made it a wonderful event.
The following day, the owner called my partner to tell him that I had dropped my wallet. I called on Monday, spoke with Maria & asked if she would be so kind as to drop it in the mail to me. Would you believe I received it the next day??? Thank you Maria for going above & beyond.

Overall, working with them was a good experience. Maria was helpful, but their other coordinator was a bit flighty and scattered. It made getting accurate costs and estimates difficult. However, they did answer my many questions and were fine with my last minute changes.
The food was good and well priced.
What made this experience was the catering staff at the event. They were WONDERFUL! So friendly and responsive. They really helped things go off without a hitch.

My wife and I hired Maravela’s to cater a buffet dinner for our wedding reception at the Byron Colby Barn in Grayslake in December 2008. Maravela’s was already on our list of local caterers that we wanted to try and they were highly recommended by the property manager at the Bryon Colby Barn, so that bumped them to the top of our short list.
Maria was amazing to work with. She had experience working with our venue and gave us the confidence that everything would be taken care of. For as stressed out as we were on our wedding day, it was a huge relief to know that we did not have to worry about our caterer.
After settling on our entrees and sides, we decided that we wanted to add a third entrée and Maria invited us back for a second tasting.
Day of, the Maravela’s team arrived and set up quickly, quietly, and on time. The staff was very friendly and helpful.
The cost for our 3-​entrée buffet + sides + bartender was extremely reasonable. More importantly we had plenty of food for all of our guests and the quality was outstanding. We’re so used to going to a wedding and eating such forgettable meals, but with Maravela’s we received compliments on the dinner for months after the wedding.
For the quality, level of service, and cost, you will not find a better caterer in the north Chicagoland ‘burbs. I highly recommend Maravela’s.

I can’t believe Maravela’s is not on here yet. They are the best. Maria is so awesome to work with and she will answer every frantic e-​mail and question quickly and professionally. I got so many compliments on the food. For 2 apps, 3-​entrée buffet with sirloin, chicken marsala and pasta (as well as vegan and kids meals) and rentals and service (including bartender but we provided our own alcohol to save some cash), we paid less than $ 3,000 for 90 people. If there’s a more affordable caterer in the Chicagoland area, I did not find it after an exhaustive search.
