I have gone to Doreen at the Rose Dore Salon for 21 years! I would not go to anyone else! My color and cut are precise and beautiful every time. The The Rose Dore is a beautiful salon atmosphere to relax and enjoy while getting pampered!

UPDATE: This Review Got Me Banned from Rose-Dore. You Can Still See The Note behind The Receptionist’s Desk which says «Do Not Make Appointments for Jon F_____.» Now they don’t permit any stylists to cut my hair, lol. Very immature business practice– Provide unsatisfactory service, then ban any customer that leave a negative review. The above note is obviously in response to this negative review I wrote, because that note went up right after I published this review(and not right after my latest haircut)… – My first experience was great. Nikki Young was great. 5 stars all the way! I continued seeing Nikki until she moved. She no longer works there, and my next experience was great as well. Emily. 5 stars again! I was told that Emily(I think) is the one who cuts men’s hair, and she did a perfect job. That was December 9th, 2014. Then I went in and set up an appointment again in March. This time, I was told that they ALL cut men’s hair. So Stephanie ended up cutting my hair. She’d been working there 35 years. Got in my car. Looked at it in the mirror. It looked awful. I felt so embarrassed I couldn’t even go into Starbucks. It looked like a rushed drill sergeant cut my hair. I have photos of this haircut in case anyone believes I’m making this up. In fact maybe I’ll post them in this review. There was a section above one ear that was clipped very short and looked like the clippers were used there and then stopped. I drove back and showed her the section. I said that she can just cut it all short if necessary. She said«That won’t be necessary,» and she cut both sides short, blended it better, then gave me a mirror. It was now short on the sides and long on top and in the back. I suggested she cut the back shorter to match the length of the sides. I already felt sick going in to tell her it had to be fixed, but I did pay her and also tipped her 20%, so felt I deserved to have a decent haircut. After the«fix,» I just wanted to leave, because Stephanie said, «Okay, now it looks better.» without asking for any confirmation. I felt like I was being picky, but it wasn’t getting fixed and I didn’t know how to tell her that it looked TERRIBLE. In the end I gave up and left, deciding that I’ll pay someone else to try to fix it. When I got home I took another look. One sideburn was an inch lower than the other sideburn. I fixed that. Easy. Though it is telling how someone could miss that. Maybe she’s great at cutting women’s hair – maybe she just doesn’t know how to cut men’s hair. My friend Meredith said that maybe her eyes aren’t very good. Maybe she forgot her glasses or contacts the day she cut my hair. I’m not trying to insult anyone, I’m just trying to explain this. All I know is it looks ridiculous and I have photos. I can’t understand how a person can cut hair for 35 years and not take one last look at the overall haircut and notice a chunk that’s cut shorter than the rest of the hair, or looking straight on, notice that one sideburn is so much different from the other (the hair was not only lower, but longer… one sideburn was taken care of, and the other was not). Also if you glance at any part of it, it has a long tuft here and there peeking out from the surrounding short hair. In addition to that, she asked me if I ever used«product» in my hair. I stated that Nikki Young(who used to cut my hair) had used Aveda Pure-formance for men, and I loved that product so much I bought it myself, but aside from that, I hate product and very rarely use any product at all. Despite my saying this, Stephanie used American Crew Fiber (which I hate… it’s like putting glue in your hair). I’d advise against getting your hair cut there if you’re a guy, unless you can get Emily. Be sure you tell them Emily.

I have to admit that I’ve never been to a real salon before for a haircut. I’ve always been one of those girls who doesn’t like to spend a lot on her hair, but it had been over a year since my last cut and I figured I would splurge a little to get a haircut that I would hopefully really like. This place definitely deserves the 5 stars the other reviewers have given it. The atmosphere is super cozy and comfortable, and walking in to all the different conversations going on between everyone in the place makes you feel like you are walking in on a family gathering. Even though I was a walk-in I was able to get in right away. Matt was my stylist and I can’t say enough good things about him. He was so friendly and kind I felt by the time I left that we had been friends for a long time. He gave me a great shampoo and haircut and I couldn’t be happier with the service I received the entire time I was there. I don’t think I will go anywhere else for a haircut and that is saying a lot for me. I will definitely recommend this place to anyone looking for a good hair salon on the North side of Indy.

I’m very«fussy» when it comes to getting(or not getting as is normally the case) a haircut. However, a couple of years ago I tried a salon here in Indy and I’ve got to say that it’s been one of the greatest finds I’ve ever come across. My hair stylist is Scott and he is fantastic at understanding and giving me exactly what I want even when I’m not fully able to express what the style looks like that I have stuck in my head. Now, admittedly I can do my hair better than anyone(styling only… I’ve never been able to cut my own hair to save my soul!), so I even when I leave the salon with a «good» cut I know that once I go home and mess around with a few styling products that it’s going to look simply gorgeous. Which is more than I can say that I’ve gotten with any other stylist that I’ve ever worked with. The staff is friendly there! Yes, that means that they will even talk to you about things other than just how cold it’s been for the past two days. I’ve had some great times there just talking and laughing for hours on end because the entire place is filled with warm and open people. It’s a great place to just relax and enjoy a little well deserved pampering.
