SmallBox is an Indianapolis, Indiana web design and marketing company that helps great organizations market themselves.
History
Established in 2006.
Hard to imagine now, but in 2006 MySpace was king, Facebook was a site for college kids and Twitter had yet to tweet. It was during this transitional time that founders Jeb Banner and Joe Downey left the auction business to start SmallBox.
In the beginning SmallBox was just a development shop. We were known for building websites using our proprietary CMS (content management system) that Joe coded our first year in business. We soon found ourselves building bigger, better websites.
We’ve gone from being a small development shop to a fully integrated web marketing agency. Our job now is to teach organizations how to market themselves. We want to give them the training and tools they need to be successful. Websites, strategy, PR, email, etc. They are all valuable tools that every organization needs.
But the ideas, stories and meaning must come from the organization. This brings us to our vision statement: we want to help start a revolution of purpose-fueled organizations.
Meet the Business Owner
Jeb B.
Business Owner
Born in Chicago, IL and raised in South Bend, Ind., Jeb graduated with a BA in English from IU Bloomington in 1996 and settled a couple years later in Indianapolis. Jeb co-founded an early eBay consignment company, Stuffe, with his college friend Jason Yoder in 1999. He later co-founded the first Indiana based eBay Live auction house, Antique Helper, in 2001 with Dan Ripley. He also founded music archive site Musicalfamilytree.com in early 2004.
Jeb left Antique Helper to start Small Box in January of 2006 with business partner Joe D, who was also working at Antique Helper.
