We are here on a Monday @ 6:30. Unilocal says its open. Sign says its open Mondays. They are closed. Wondering if its permanent. This is disappointing. :(

Ate here for the first time for a charity event in conjunction with IBE. Had previously heard good things about its old location, but had never made it. I was not disappointed. I opted for the buffet and everything was good. Others in my party got the fried catfish, veggie quesadilla, blackened catfish, and steak. Everyone was pleased. The service was quick and the waitress was friendly. Loved the flavored lemonades as well. The restaurant exterior and interior was nice, clean, and modern. Would definitely visit again.

We just ate hear today for diner. The interior is well done and comfortable. The waitress was quick and attentive. The service was quick. The menu covers a fair amount of American items and they had a lot of lunch sandwiches. I had the salmon with rice and green beans which was excellent. It was fresh well prepared and seasoned. The side salad was good as well. The chicken salad is what my wife had which she liked a lot as well. We also had the chicken quesadellia was good as well. Overall would return and look forward to trying lunch items. Also I think they are closed Monday. Kids meals are 3.99 but may be free with adult dinners.

Family owned and operated, with great pride being taken in the quality and freshness of the food. It is very tasty, with prompt pleasant service. Prices are right on track. Thoroughly enjoyed dinner.

This remodeled O’Charley’s looks great on the inside but that’s about the only thing that you’ll find nice here. Both my and my husband’s food was horrible. The staff seemed extremely confused and untrained. The manager was rude as well when we pointed out the issues with our dinner. We’ll never go back and suggest you avoid it as well.

Side Street American Grill now occupies the old O’Charley’s location on 38th Street next door to the new Planet Fitness. Side Street American Grill is a chain and once upon a time had a downtown Indy location. The restaurant is still in soft opening mode with grand opening in two weeks. Interior appears smaller with bar area in same location but difficult to remember as I wasn’t a regular at O’Charley’s. From the information provided Side Street will continue to expand in Indianapolis and surrounding area/states with plans for a strong catering business. They offer call ahead seating and on-line ordering, box lunch menus as well as catering. The waitress went above and beyond to make this a perfect experience. Service was prompt, friendly, and my waitress was informative and knowledgeable concerning the company and most of menu. Many of the same questions I asked were repeated by next few customers seated around me. Limited number of reasonably priced lunch specials is offered with average lunch price of $ 7.25. Menu consists of 6 appetizers all deep fried with exception of Quesadilla, decent selection of salads, two soups and adequate variety of sandwiches and dinner entrée with four desserts topping off menu. Nothing unusual or must try shouted Side Street is different from most restaurants. Gluten free options are available from 4 salads, 2 chicken or 2 fish entrees. GF is a separate menu and not printed on regular menu. I ordered the Spinach Melt with a side of pasta salad today opting for a healthier and lighter lunch. The description reads as fresh spinach, tomatoes and provolone cheese on toasted wheat. Sounds fairly healthy, right? The amount of fresh spinach was decent and obviously sautéed in heavy margarine and topped with the provolone. The wheat bread was grilled as well in margarine to lightly brown. The sandwich(bread & spinach) was dripping with margarine when I picked it up with the spinach being overcooked, fully saturated in margarine, no seasonings and bitter. The pasta salad was Italian based dressing on cork screw pasta, not overly sweet and tasty. Several additional requested napkins and openly discussing my sandwich issues with my waitress prompted several apologies. After sharing issue with her Manager who briefly in passing looked at the sandwich I felt as if the Manager seemed puzzled as if sandwich was properly prepared. Being curious as how issues would be handled plus an appointment within the hour left me biting my tongue for it to be removed from bill. Knowing of my distastes nothing was offered or concern expressed from the Manager. Nothing was pleasing with the sandwich other than nourishment, not burned and a margarine lover’s dream. I’m not sure how quickly I’ll revisit for second review but it will not be soon or with anticipation.
