Good food, i wasn’t blown away. Maybe some better sushi options in Avon, but this was not bad by any means. If you are close to Ru Yi give them a try.

I went with my family for dinner here while we waited for a hair appointment next door so we didn’t have much time. The server promptly greeted and sat us which was nice. First impression was that it was really hot(hot day) but didn’t seem like they made it too comfortable for customers. The other negative on atmosphere was the construction happening in the suite next door. We heard every knock of the hammer. I was also a bit off put by how long it took a server to clear a dirty tBle next to us. I know they were trying to serve active customers but I didn’t like staring at a dirty mess for. The time I sat down to after we got our food. I was ok though given our time crunch and the construction was another businesses doing. I excitedly ordered the bourbon chicken just to hear that it’s been discontinued although very much still on the menu :(. I ordered the sesame chicken and crab ran goons. They were both excellent. So, in a nutshell order takeout!

I’m all about family-owned, family-run restaurants. However… there is a place for your one-year-old and that place is NOT helping his mom or auntie deliver your food. That place is also not my lap. The little boy was adorable, but I work with little kids all day long. If it’s Saturday and I’m at lunch I am NOT in the mood to entertain a child… especially if I’m not getting paid to do so. I am NEVER in the mood to have a coughing child with snot running down his face climb onto my lap. Especially in a restaurant! The food was good. I had sushi, my boyfriend had a Thai dish. There were lots of veggies in his food which I ate because he is not a huge fan of veggies. I thought it was very tasty. My sushi was pretty good too. It was not awesome, but it was fine. The décor is pretty nice, and although the space is small it’s well broken-up so that you aren’t staring right back at every other person in the space. There are 2 – 3 large televisions which I did not enjoy. They were tuned to infomercials and daytime talk TV… in English. I believe they also have bubble tea, which I will have to try. I love the stuff!

My fiancé and I love Ru Yi! They have a large variety of food and sushi including Thai dishes as well! I had Orange Chicken this time. It isn’t my favorite dish I’ve had there, would recommend the Garlic Chicken! My fiancé got the Thai Beef and it had a great spicy/sweet taste. The service is always good and very friendly. Would recommended for families or groups.

We just came from Ru Yi(again). I wanted to update my review because we have really come to love this place. The family that owns the business is so upset to have read the Unilocal!reviews that mention their children in the restaurant. They have now taken steps to curb this, with the kids only having to be there two nights per week. They are also taking care to monitor the kids when they do have to be there. They have read your reviews and are taking them seriously. Please, do go back and give them a second chance. The Snowman Roll is so delicious. The Red Dragon and Godzilla rolls, too. I’m so stuffed that I can’t type another word! *** New and improved review! Now with more stars! We’ve been making Ru Yi a regular haunt and we’ve had great experiences. The food is always wonderful. The sushi is fresh and delicious. They are always offering new or special rolls. They are creatively plated and so very beautiful. You eat with your eyes first and this doesn’t disappoint. The entrees are all very good from your basic Chinese offerings to their more exotic Thai dishes. The Tom Yum soup is incredible! It’s complex, flavorful, spicy and served with sweet, plump shrimp and good veggies. The staff are helpful and warm. They are very accommodating to requests or special dietary needs. You’ll not be disappointed if you stop in, I promise!

Food is excellent but the owner’s young children are living there. Very disruptive and cannot enjoy the dinner. I won’t be back for a long time… Maybe when the children are teenagers and can be less disruptive.

Great food, BUT the staffs children are there running around the whole place? We love the food here, and have came since they opened, we do not come that often. The last 3 times we came the servers, the young ladies that run the place, have their kids running around talking to all guests, interrupting their dinners. Yes, they are cute, but this is SO unprofessional. I never noticed this when they first opened, but like I said last few times have just been an awkward experience. My husband and I both agreed that we loved the food, but would never go back to dine in. This is so frustrating too. They act oblivious to the children running around? Anyway, great food, used to look forward to going in and trying new things, but for now on if we do order it will be for take out. I saw someone else reviewed this and said same thing about the kids in there. :(

We love Ru Yi! We come in at least a couple times a month. Personal favorites include the Kiss of Fire, Flaming Roll, and the Volcano Roll. Service is spectacular and the Tsing Tao beer is great too :)

This was an okay place. Sushi was just alright. Happy Family was good but not spectacular-scallops were a tad slimy. Tempura shrimp was greasy. Crabmeat ragoon was good. Seemed a bit overpriced for the quality. Can’t say I am itching to go back anytime soon.

We visited Ruyi Asian Cuisine today. My husband said he went there for lunch last week and it was good, so we went their for dinner tonight. I would agree with him. He said for lunch, the menu is just one page, front and back. When we went tonight, there was a full menu of several pages and many things to choose from. I loved the Chicken Lo Mein and my husband had the Chichen Teryaki and he loved it too. We tried an appetizer. Who knew how good it would be. I forget the name of it, Edamanin, sorry for the spelling of it. It was basically like huge peas that they cook and you take the skin off and eat the inside. Huge portions and Great service. There were two of them waiting on us and they were attentive to everyone. I would recommend them to anyone.

I went here twice hoping for some awesome delicious Thai food. The first time I ordered Pad Thai. It tasted oily and had no flavor. It tasted like what a fast food restaurant would make as Pad Thai. Based on other good reviews, I tried again and ordered Red Curry the second time. It wasn’t at all like anywhere else, and there was a mild language barrier with the staff so they assured me I was getting Thai Red Curry soup. Coconut milk and red curry spicing and all… I was served a stir fry of some sort on a PLATE(not soup at all!). This restaurant has nice décor inside and would be a cute place for a date, however, if you are someone who loves Thai food, both of my dishes were the worst I have had. Maybe the rest of the Asian cuisine is better however I will not return. I’ll stick with traditional Thai only restaurants for Thai, and I have no desire to see if they can make sushi! I’ll stick with my favorite Japanese sushi places for that! The service was nice, the food just is not good at all.

My wife and I have been to this restaurant twice. The first time we ordered take out. Chicken and shrimp Lomein. It was very good! A lot of food for the price also. The second time was just last night for our date night. We’ve never had sushi before and we had heard this place was great. It’s also just down the road from us. We ordered the Yummy Roll, California Roll, Tuna Roll and Vegetable Rolls. Everything was perfect! The appetizers, vegetable rolls, were hot and crisp with this amazing sauce to dip it in. My favorite sushi was the Yummy roll. Deep fried shrimp with cream cheese and crab. Although we have never had sushi before I must say this has to be great for a first timer. We will be coming back to this restaurant! Also the servers were very kind. They checked on us a lot. Our food was brought out in a good amount of time. The atmosphere was a little different. It was more of a casual café feeling. The time of our meal was right around 5pm. A little early on the dinner side. It wasn’t really busy. But that made it a perfect quiet dinner date. You have to try this restaurant!

I really enjoyed this place — the food was delicious and the service was great. The thai iced tea was pretty tasty and they give you a good amount(other places give you a lot less for the same price). They have lots of other flavor choices for bubble tea, and I definitely want to come back and try them out. I also had the vegetable tempura bento box — the sauce is really good and they give you a generous portion. And I highly recommend getting the Jaguar Roll(eel, avocado, cream cheese, and it’s deep fried)! This is one of my favorite Asian restaurants in the city, and I’m definitely coming back!

We have ordered take out a couple of times and have enjoyed our dinner each time. The food was fresh, cooked well, with generous portions. It’s becoming my go-to for Asian food. I’m looking forward to dining in and trying some sushi.

Our initial expectations were low. We were wrong. Ru Yi amazed us! Crazy good food, extremely nice and quick service. Clean atmosphere, large portions and reasonable prices. This isn’t your normal run-of-the-mill Asian restaurant, this is so much more than we had expected. We’ll be back! Crab rangoon(4.5 stars out of 5) — Big, crispy, lots of tasty cream cheese filling. Awesome red sweet & sour sauce for dipping(and I don’t like most red s&s sauces). I don’t order crab rangoon very often, but this was possibly the best I’ve ever had. Shrimp w/lobster sauce(4 stars) — Lots of huge shrimp, thick sauce that wasn’t too salty. Very nice … maybe not quite as good as some others I’ve had but it came pretty darn close. Shrimp w/garlic sauce(4 stars) — Nice balance of spice and garlic, very good flavor but I would have loved just a bit more heat. Huge shrimp that were cooked perfectly. Vegetables were crisp and cut into reasonable bite-size pieces(not to be taken for granted — oftentimes, it seems like I get served an entire uncut head of broccoli on my plate at other Chinese restaurants). In both shrimp dishes, they actually removed the shell near the tail that hides that last bit of the shrimp meat … but they somehow were still able to keep the actual tail on! You got the classy presentation of tail-on but don’t have to hassle with removing it and/or losing shrimp meat. Super impressive and a very nice touch!

Ru Yi was a great value and a rare find. I’ve been there several times now over lunch and dinner. The service, quality of food, and prices are always consistent. The amazing thing is that the food actually looks like the high-quality pictures in the menu. I would recommend the egg drop or Tom Yum soup to start, some sushi from their wide menu, and a Ru Yi House special for your meal. I’ve never left there disappointed and feeling it was not a great value for the portions and quality. Not your typical Asian Restaurant, so don’t look for a buffet or warming lamps here. Everything is made to order, fresh, and they also have a great variety for all likes and tastes. Try them out and you will be pleasantly surprised. They have Bento Boxes, sushi/sashimi/rolls, traditional Asian menu items, Vegetarian selections, and quite a few soups to select from. Check Coupons4Indy for additional discounts as well. Here is a link to their menu:

Great variety of food. The décor was very simple and nice. Staff was beyond friendly with my children. Whoever thought of apricot sauce with an egg roll should be given an award. Stellar. Hot pot wasn’t what I traditionally think of, but still great flavor. I hope our next visit is as awesome!
