Not the spot for classic martinis or other cocktails. This hotel bar has locally created cocktails with crazy names and blended to perfection. The creation is both artistic and mesmerizing. If the shaker was slowed down to a soft beat, I’d be hypnotized. But we don’t want that. I came to explore great drinks from Indys best mixologists.

I had the pleasure of attending a Wedding reception at The Alexander. We had drinks in the Plat 99 lounge before the reception. While the reception’s food, drink and music were marvelous, Plat 99 was intriguing enough to take a second look. We were not disappointed. The cocktails are inspired and served with style. The small plates, artisanal charcuterie and cheeses, are works of art and so delicious. Whatever your reason to be in Indianapolis, you need to stop here for a drink and a bite.

The drinks are wonderful you can pretty much order what you like and the bartender can make it! The cost is worth it cause what you get is awesome! Try it!

This is my favorite place in Indy to come for a cocktail. Great service, well made and inventive cocktails and good sunset views on a nice day. Even if you’re not feeling the choices on the cocktail menu the bartenders will do their best to create something for you if you ask. The food options have been pretty good too. We tried the beef tongue stew and it was excellent. Flavorful broth and the tongue was perfectly tender.

I went to Plat 99 on a Monday night. I was really excited, as I had never gotten around to going, and it just worked out to go this time. It didn’t look busy, so we went upstairs and sat down and looked at the menu. We then waited to place our order. The waitress apologized for our wait, and was very kind to us. The truffle popcorn that’s provided is out of this world. Someone else brought our drinks, and I don’t think we were the right kind of people to be in his bar. It was somewhat disappointing. I would have had a second drink if I would have felt more welcome. The drink I did have was amazing. But I don’t really need to go back.

The true star of this place is the staff. Upon arriving with two best friends, we chose a corner table with a true view of the bar in all its colorful glory. Hanging lights dripping with kaleidoscope colors surround the entire space in sporadic patterns illuminating the area with a soft glow. We were immediately served bags of truffle popcorn to munch on while perusing the cocktail menu. One of the biggest things when visiting a new place is trying to find the perfect drink, something you know you’ll like, but you don’t want to be «that person» and order your usual. Our waiter, Justin, made us feel at ease as he explained how they like to do things there. He asked what flavors, tastes, and smells we liked and said he’d take care of us. No more than 10 minutes later, he floats over to our table with drinks in hand. The selections he created for us were spot on and all three of us were on cloud 9. See, Plat 99 is a mixology lounge — creation is what they do best, so let them create. We had more fun with the spontaneity of it all that it took the decision-making out of the equation so that we could enjoy each other’s company. Fun facts: –GOHEREFORYOURBIRTHDAY! Not only did they give my sis-in-law a free glass of champagne, but they also brought out a dessert plate full of house-made chocolate mousse, pretzel sticks, rice krispie squares dipped in chocolate, and chocolate-dipped strawberries and blueberries — !!! –Valet is $ 12 and was totally worth it on a rainy evening(our waiter validated our valet ticket as a sweet birthday gift for my sis-in-law — she has all the luck!) There is street parking available around the block or down the street. –Before or after you enjoy your time at Plat 99, take a stroll through the Alexander Hotel lobby area. There is so much art to see with views of the city to match. –If Plat 99 is this great, I can only imagine how the Alexander serves their patrons. The hotel is attached and our group was dreaming of what a one night stay might look like. I wish there were more Plat 99’s, although that might fuel my alcohol consumption and then where would I be? On second thought, Plat 99 — stay exactly as you are!

This place is beautiful inside, has lots of comfortable seating areas(both inside and out thanks to gas heaters) and a lot of very innovative, original cocktails. I had their Elephant Man, which was a whiskey drink, along with their barreled tequila with chocolate bitters. They were both fantastic, with layers of complex flavors. Some people will really enjoy the free bags of popcorn that they hand out to everyone, and the smell permeates the restaurant. I would definitely go back and recommend it to anyone looking for a high end bar.

Okay, let me just walk you through my incredible experience here. I was with two other friends, one of which was celebrating her birthday. Parking: We arrived at the valet($ 12) and was greeted by a very nice employee and he answered all of our indecisive parking questions with ease. We chose valet so we could just relax and not walk in the rain. Atmosphere: Upon entry into the hotel lobby you come upon some of the coolest modern art I’ve ever seen that’s not in a museum. This place had a top notch design team, the hotel and the bar are visually stunning and pristine. Plat 99 is a mixology lounge and has a warm feel to it. They have a patio that is heated but we didn’t even see it otherwise we probably would’ve jumped on that train. Service: UM… OUTSTANDING. Seriously, I have never been to place where they accommodate a birthday gal/guy so much in my life. Justin, our waiter, was the best. He explained what the mixology bartenders were all about. While they do have a great cocktail menu, they will also make custom cocktails based on what you like. We were all down with letting the bartender surprise us so Justin made notes of what our usual«poison» is and he came back with delicious concoctions. After our first round of drinks Justin brought the birthday girl a complimentary glass of champagne and a chef followed with a custom dessert board complete with house made chocolate mousse, strawberries, oranges, and pretzel sticks. It was delicious! Then the check came: In the end, the birthday girl got her first cocktail on the house, a glass of champagne and dessert for free. Then, Justin asked if we used valet and when we said yes, he validated it for us! I think we calculated about $ 40+ worth of complimentary goodies for the birthday girl. She was on cloud 9 and felt like a queen. It was fantastic and we are already planning a girls trip to stay at the hotel and go back to Plat99 to enjoy the balcony. GREATJOB to the staff for all of your excellent customer service! I highly recommend checking this little gem out!

Whoooooaaaa. These were some wild cocktails. If I’m going to sell you on Plat 99, let me just tell you what I drank. I ordered a drink with a nugget of dry ice in the bottom. This meant the drink was constantly bubbling and frothing, making for a pretty exhilirating drinking experience. I was initially concerned that the dry ice would accidentally be ingested and burn my throat, but it was clearly contained. Of course it was, but it sure added to the thrill. I also had a drink that came in what appeared to be a small scotch bottle, half-filled with the cocktail, half-filled with smoke. The smoke infused with the drink as it sat, and after poured over ice, flowed away from the drink, but leaving behind its oakey, delicious flavor. I prefer dives to lounges, so Plat 99 isn’t quite my scene, but it’s also beyond any scence I’ve ever dabbled into in Indy, and it pulls it off well. Everything at the Alexander is just a little bit classier, and Plat 99 fits in nicely.

Imaginative cocktails, extensive alcohol list, tasty cheese plate, friendly service, AND awesome décor? Check, check, check, check, and check. I got the Delta Rose while my boyfriend was delighted to see Aquavit on the menu. Mine tasted like a gummy bear, but not in an overly sugary way. We then requested Aviations made with Aquavit instead of gin, and it was delicious. The cheese plate included warm, honey-drizzled bread and fig jam with dried and fresh fruits and generous cheese servings. The décor is colorful and fun. I dug the art nouveau-style pattern on the pillars and floor near the west window. You can stroll the public parts of the hotel afterwards and check out their eclectic art collection. We had a great time and we’re in no rush to leave, and plan to return soon.

Met up with friends to catch up and have a drink or two. Love the atmosphere. Music wasn’t too loud so we could talk and actually hear each other. Snagged a sweet spot in the corner couches and split a bottle of wine. Great evening! At previous visits I’ve only enjoyed the cocktails. Lots of options if you aren’t a fan of sweet drinks like me. Highly recommended.

Finally checked this place out on a date and now I’m wondering why it took me so long! Beautiful lights, a «big city» feel, great view, excellent cocktails, and complimentary popcorn flavored with truffle oil and sea salt? Sign me up. We visited on a weekend night so it was a bit crowded, but the service was excellent. I was able to successfully order one of my favorite old fashioned cocktails off menu with good results. Great spot for a nice drink downtown!

Beautiful location, and the lamps are gorgeous. Asked the bartender his favorite drink to make or have, and he whipped up this delicious bourbon drink for me that I believe was their feb 2016 devour downtown cocktail. Wish I could remember the name of the drink. I ordered the heart shaped pasta with duck confit, it was easily one of the best dishes I’ve had here in Indy. I agree with some other reviews about a touch of snobbery. It was evident and only mildly off putting. Reminded me of hipster places in Portland. We lucked out and at 8:15pm on a Friday were able to snag free on street parking. I also heard that the outdoor patio is really nice in summer. The view from the bar includes the new YMCA. So you can watch people doing cardio while you sip your cocktails if that’s your thing. I’ll be back, but not sure that I’ll rush there.

Plat 99 is at the top of my list when recommending visitors to our city looking for a place to go. The atmosphere is pretty swanky, without being intimidating. Whether you’re popping in at the end of your evening or just getting started, you’ll have plenty of choices to satisfy your groups palette. I appreciate the fact that you can grab a local brew, a craft cocktail, glass of wine or non-alcoholic beverage, important when entertaining a business group. Their signature plates step it up and offer a zing that you won’t soon forget! The sliders are out of this world, but I say go for the Mango Shrimp lettuce wraps and save room for one of their delectable desserts. Smoked Maple Whiskey chocolate mousse? Who can say no to that?! The view, overlooking the Southside of town and Lucas Oil Stadium is a pretty nice way to show off your fair city. Enjoy the breeze on their patio, complete with a glass fire to add a little romance.

Had the opportunity of visiting Plat 99 for the first time last week with my boyfriend and another couple. The décor was fun, modern and unexpected. I ordered a gin fizz and the shrimp + mango lettuce wraps a la carte. Cocktail was exactly as described. Very well balanced and not too sweet. Lettuce wraps were tangy, fresh, and flavorful but for $ 13 I would have liked to see at least one more on the plate. I sampled the rabbit stew as well as the corn beef sliders. Both were amazing but once again portions were a bit tiny. I look forward to coming back and sampling some more cocktails.

Very cool bar attached to the Alexander Hotel. Several vintage cocktails from pre-prohibition are on the menu. None cooler than«The Elephant in the Room» a bourbon cocktail which comes in its own decanter filled with cherrywood smoke. You decide how long to let it infuse. Lots of comfortable seating and when it warms up a touch a large beautiful deck with seating and heating overlooks the street life. As an added bonus you can relax and watch people work out through the glass of the new CityWay YMCA. And yes the truffle oil and sea salt popcorn that greets every patron is as good as it sounds. Get a beer and start collecting bags, once you start you can’t stop.

The first thing you’ll notice is the gorgeous glass lanterns hanging over the bar area. The second thing you’ll notice is the delectable scent of truffle oil popcorn. Yes, that’s right… Plat 99 serves hot, freshly popped popcorn drizzled with truffle oil! I was like a moth drawn to a flame… pretty glowing lights and delicious smells to lure me in. My husband and I have visited Cerulean, the restaurant downstairs and under the same ownership, several times before this. Love that place, so I had great expectations for Plat 99. This is a great place for an after work drink or in our case a nightcap to end our Friday night festivities. They have an outdoor patio, complete with a fancy fire box and swanky lounge chairs, so you can enjoy your cocktail in style and comfort. We opted to dine inside because they didn’t have the fire lit and it was a little chilly. I’m a big fan of upscale bars like this offering seating other than just bar stools, like couches, high back chairs and such. The place wasn’t packed so we snagged a couch and chair. Our server, Jessica, was prompt and offered us little bags of the infamous truffle popcorn when she approached us. We hadn’t drank here before, but she was knowledgeable of the best/most popular drinks on their signature cocktail menu. Plat 99’s bartenders have a very interesting selection of hand-crafted cocktails… definitely a mixologist’s place. I was adventurous and ordered Miley’s Mouthwash, a black tea vodka cocktail served up and with an egg white. Not quite my thing, but I can appreciate the thought behind the liquor and flavor combinations. My hubs got the Swashbuckler made with a fantastic rum called Papa’s Pilar. I think we both agreed it was very smooth with sweetness that mixes well with the vanilla and anise notes. The only thing I found a little off(and the reason I am only giving Plat 99 four stars) was the cheese plate we ordered. It had a mix of dried and fresh fruits and toasted thin baguette slices with the cheeses, which sounds nice… But the presentation was just a little too much. The wooden bowl it came out in seemed overly-crowded with items and the fruit itself didn’t look very appetizing. The grapes had that waxy look like they needed to be washed and the strawberries weren’t very ripe. I think the kitchen staff just needs to fix these small, finishing touches in order to get a call five star rating from me.

Two words: «truffle popcorn». Hold the cocktails and give me all the bags, wouldya? Slash that. I’ll take the cocktails too. Every visit to Plat 99 comes with a complimentary mini bag of truffle popcorn to accompany your craft cocktails and light eats. While perusing the chronologically organized menu, you can lick the truffle oil off your fingers. In addition to great service, Plat 99 boasts one of the most beautiful spaces in downtown Indy —floor to ceiling windows with great views of the skyline and a ceiling covered with Dale Chihuly-style glass lights. The cocktails range from lightly sweet(perfect for those who are not big on bourbons and«manly» drinks) to drier drinks that use fun ingredients like fresh ginger, jalapeño ice spheres and a chipotle salted rims. Perfect stop for a drink before dinner at Cerulean(downstairs) or a night cap before resting your head in The Alexander Hotel.

I am a fan of this bar. Now I’ve only been once, so I need a few more times to solidify that they are indeed a good bar. The one glass of house Moscato was great. The server was pretty good and I think it’s a nice nifty idea that you get free popcorn. I couldn’t put my finger on the seasoning is on the popcorn… But it’s pretty good. Lastly, it is one of the most attractive bars I’ve ever been to. Whenever I pass to Alexander, I always look at the class globes and wish that I could be inside.

Plat 99 is my favorite bar in Indianapolis– by a landslide. 1) the décor inside the bar is so chic, but warm. This will sound strange, but the lovely glass fixtures hanging from the ceiling remind me of jellyfish. They have a variety of seating options– stools bar-side, couches, and high top tables. 2) they serve small bites, which I have never had… but I love their truffle popcorn! It’s complimentary and delicious. Think of this as their alternative to shelled peanuts. 3) their cocktails are amazing! While they’d be happy to pour you a beer, or make you a rum and coke, you go to Plat 99 for their unique cocktail selections. I’ve never seen a bartender smoke a drink with cherry wood, for example. I’ve also never seen a bartender measure things from droppers, and actually taste their creations before sending it to the customer– which I think is a great idea, when you’re trying to master a craft.(don’t worry– they use the finger-over-the-end of the straw technique… You aren’t swapping germs :) On my most recent visit, I had 2 drinks– the bourbon forward 51st State, and the beet juice cocktail– Off beat in Aberdeen. Both were awesome! The 51st State comes with 2 cherries– and they aren’t the freakishly preserved maraschino variety! Don’t delay– visit now! It’s only a short walk from Lucas Oil and Bankers Life, and it has a great deck in the summer!
