This used to be my go-to nail place. Eyebrows, mani, pedi and out, no big deal. One of my friends got married and wanted us all to have french nails– the tech I went to suggested I get silk wraps, as my natural nails grow out long. I did and started the nightmare of itching, swelling, and general discomfort that I put up with because my nails always looked so nice. It wasn’t until I needed a fill in Dayton that the nail tech pointed out that my nails were lifting off my nail bed, and that my nail shop was very irresponsible for still treating me.(I didn’t know, having been firmly instructed to not observe the job they were doing. I’m serious.) After that, I was scared straight and went back to wearing my own unadorned nails, but I’d still go for the occasion pedi, but I noticed my service was getting shorter and skimpier for the same amount of money. Today, I needed some serious foot work, so I popped in. I was seated right away and the guy got to work, carefully attending to my feet until the owner came by– then we apparently hit warp. He was wrapping things up when I pointed out that I wanted the deluxe pedi. Apparently this wasn’t what he had in mind, and grudgingly, he started applying the sea salt to my legs– but not to my feet, where I actually wanted the scrub action. Another person came and said something else, and he put the mask on my legs, again skipping my feet, until she pointed that out. He leaves to start on someone else, and the lady comes, rinses quickly, and starts on the polish. No massage, no hot oil as advertised with the deluxe, and my toenails look like they’re smudged because they weren’t buffed. I’m glad I didn’t have somewhere to go afterward, because my legs were bone dry and looked like it. Ugh. I’m finally through with them, and hopefully I’ll find someone else. Anyone else.
