Las Tapatias At City Market

I mistakenly went to this place thinking it was the «Tamale Place.» Boy, will I be sure to read signs more carefully this time. I got the lunch special with one chicken and one beef taco. The chicken was edible, not good, but edible. The beef was not, I didn’t even finish it and I can just about never bring myself to throw away food. The rice was bland and the refried beans were extremely watery. Needless to say, I will not be going back.

I’ve been to this place three times over the past year or so.
The first time, I ordered a burrito and was very unimpressed.
However, the last two times I’ve been here I’ve just gone with the «special lunch #1» which includes two tacos (choice of beef or chicken and hard or soft shell), rice, refried beans, and a drink for $ 5.99. Not bad at all, and at the last visit they remembered to include taco sauce. I enjoyed both of those carryout lunches.
Not bad, but not great either. I will most likely be back but if you’re in the mood for Mexican and work in the area there’s a place in the Chase Tower that is somewhat better.

What a poor excuse for Mexican food. I tried ordering the lunch special and explaining that I’m a vegetarian. The lady at the register did not understand so she grabs the cook. After trying to explain to both of them that I just wanted rice, beans, and veggies in my food and no meat, and obviously severely annoying them, the food I received was just unbelievably bad. The lunch special included a burrito, an enchilada, and rice. The burrito was actually a flour taco tortilla filled with beans and then covered in cheese. No veggies there. The enchilada was a corn taco tortilla filled with COLD SHREDDED CHEESE. That’s it. Not melted cheese, no veggies, just a corn tortilla filled with shredded cheese.
Absolutely disgusting. I will never go back here.
