Ok, just for a disclaimer I don’t smoke but IF you do and you live in North Indy or Carmel, then Jimmy B’s is your joint! The staff is super friendly and the food menu is as good as it is CHEAP!!! WHAT??? A place in Carmel with a deal, say it ain’t so!!! Also, being at 106th and College makes it a good straight shot from Broad Ripple. So let’s recap, cheap drinks and food-check, friendly staff-check, and you can smoke… INSIDE-crazy double dog dare check. Oh and lastly, the patrons are of all ages. *sigh*…Murica. :)

The service is good and the patrons are nice. The food is decent for the price. But beware smoking is allowed. If you don’t like smoking don’t go there. Because the bar can get very smokey.

To say this is a smoky bar is to say the ocean is wet. The food was probably pretty good but I couldn’t taste it because my nose was instantly stopped up. Driving around in the car afterwards with the windows down and my clothes still smell terrible. This was lunch hour and every table around us had people eating with a cigarette in their other hand. Big Mike’s Café is just down the street at 96th and their food is just as good and it’s non-smoking.

Great burgers & service. Great neighborhood bar & meeting place. Smoking might turn off the few, but for a true bar, it’s great.

Great food. Everything we have ordered was awesome! Even though we don’t live near I would come back everyday. I miss this place. Hello to everyone.

Holy tenderloin batman. I went here today, a lazy Sunday afternoon with an ache in my tummy. The fiancé is out of town and I didn’t feel like cooking for one. Drinks and food are incredibly reasonably priced and generous, the bartender was really nice(she knew everyone at the bars name and even asked mine when I sat down), and oh sweet jesus that tenderloin. It was melt-in-your-mouth delicious. It was everything I could do to eat half of it. I had heard from a few people that it was worth the trip and they were totally right. I personally LIKE the fact that it’s a smoking bar– but hey, I can see why people have a problem with it. Easy solution though: If you don’t like it, don’t go here. Simple as that. It was good food, good drinks, good people, and a good time. They had bloody marys on special today for $ 1.99– I don’t really like bloody marys unless they’re loaded up with all sorts of crap, but if you’re a fan you can’t go wrong, what a great price. Overall, this is probably one of the best dives in the area. Juke boxes, pool tables, dart board, a few claw machines with mystery packages, clean bathrooms, nice bartenders. Check it out!

My second mistake was was going there 2 times for carry out. Both times I called my order in around noon they said it would be ready in 15 minutes I arrived about 2 or 3 minutes early each time I walked in I noticed that most of the people are smoking cigarettes and you can see the blue grey color in the air after sitting and waiting for 30 minutes for my carry out order that I called in I decided that the people of Home Place or south Carmel are not much into timely service and as far as the quality of the food I would give them a 1 star for bar food, the place has poor ventilation so don’t wear anything that you don’t want to smell like a ashtray. So if you want poor service a grumpy blond behind the bar, surrounded by a bunch of power drinkers at lunch, below average food and cigarettes butts near your food south Carmel or Home Place whatever that place is called Jimmy B’s is the place for you.

I particularly enjoy coming here on Saturday and Sunday mornings for Bloody Marrys and breakfast. The staff is always friendly and the blue-collard, honest, hardworking crowd it attracts are fantastic. Thankfully you won’t find any self absorbed, pretentious Carmelites here. Yes, smoking is allowed at this establishment. I, however, am not a smoker and am not bothered because it is ventilated well and the smoking crowd is minimal the times I have been here.

Mostly rating it a 5 because Korey rated a one star not because he went here but decided it was a 1 star based on reviews really? Shameful. Yes they allow smoking I don’t smoke I don’t really like it but that is their business model. They are a privately owned company and last time I checked we were were living in a free country. Personally I don’t think the government has the right to tell a private business that they can’t alow people to engage in an activity that is legal let me repeat legal. If you dont like smokey bars dont patronize. Alright off soapbox food is really good. Wings are tasty have a good horseradish sauce I would request. It is a neighborhood bar and expect as such. Not pretentious in the least which is refreshing. Tap selection is not very exciting but do have rock on tap which I like. Good place to kick back have a drink and conversation. I would stay longer but it is a little smokey :).

This is a smoking bar. I don’t smoke but it doesn’t smell that bad. And karaōke on Friday nights. The bar is huge, plenty of room, lots of tables. The menu is pretty simple, sanwiches and other typical fried bar food. I ordered the prime rib wrap, but got it in a hoagie bun. The sanwich was very good, it had mushrooms onions and peppers and mozzarella cheese. Drinks are cheap here too. Then we karaōke-ed the night away.

Good food. But it’s like sitting in an ashtray and eating. Since Marion Co went smokeless all the smoking office people from the 96th and Meridian area come here. I’ll never understand why they let people smoke in a bar. Only 24% of the adults smoke in Indiana. So they make 76% suffer. Contrary to what bar owners say it’s bad for business.

Horrible ventalation, the thick smoke prevented me from even thinking of having a good time. I just wanted to get the hell out of there. This cancer incubator is where people go to die. No thanks. Not sure why Carmel hasnt gone along with the smoking ban. Non smokers like to drinking and night life too. If you don’t cater to both your best customers will soon fade away.

A bar you can go to your PJs in. I’m a routine patron of Jimmy Bs and overal I’m a fan. They do allow smoking inside, which can be bothersome at times, especially when I’m trying to eat. For a ‘bar’ I think their food is pretty decent: they are known for their Tenderloin, which is amazing. Most – probably a quarter to half – of their menu items contain some form of their Chili, so I wouldn’t say they are too terribly diverse. The only item on their menu I’ve ever had disappointment in was their taco salad, which was actually more like an actual salad WITH chili(go figure) on top of tortilla chips — I’d call it ‘chili salad nachos’. As for the dress code, there is none. You can wear your best or your worst and no one judges. There’s a couple pool tables always filled with the same 10 Asian kids, a couple claw machines that dispense porn, a couple mega touch machines, about 4 flat screen tvs, and a jukebox. It’s always clean, the bathrooms are well maintained, the staff is relatively nice – some are awesome(Lindsay and Rob) and some just aren’t, but no one has ever been rude to me and I always get what I ordered althought sometimes it can take a little while for the food. I have NEVER seen a fight, it’s a pretty relaxing place so I’m not sure what people would be fighting about. It’s not a party place, very low key. The crowd is diverse in ethnicity, age, and sex and everyone is very respectful of everyone else.

Yep, it’s smoky at times. Fights? I’ve been here a bunch and never seen one. The staff is friendly, although, it seems they’re chronically under-staffed. If you go a prime lunch or dinner time, you might have to wait a bit… not terribly long, though. And there’s plenty of atmosphere to soak up. The breaded tenderloin sandwich is one of the best ones in town. Hamburgers are. not great, but above average. I’ve had varying experience with the steak. Sometimes it’s over the top good, sometimes it’s just so so. But I’ve NEVER been unhappy with the tenderloin, and that’s what I usually get. I love the atmosphere here… it’s a great place to set and watch the characters that stroll through the door!

It’s smokey, the food & prices are average, the locals really don’t want you there, & it’s one of my favorite places to go. Loses one star due to the heavy smoke.
