Specialties
The Indianapolis Chamber Orchestra’s mission is to advance and promote music composed for the small orchestra through professional performances and educational programs. Comprised of 34 professional musicians chosen by a rigorous audition process, the ICO annually presents a series of seven concerts using a variety of formats, including Masterworks and Pops.
The ICO Masterworks concerts draw upon a body of musical literature spanning nearly four centuries, and the ICO Pops focuses on a variety of popular and theatrical genre, all of which are scored for the small orchestra. In addition to presenting the full breadth of chamber orchestra repertoire, the ICO’s concert series features internationally recognized concert artists as well as superior regional talent, presents aspiring young soloists, and showcases the talents of contemporary composers.
The Orchestra’s performances are also made available to the community via weekly WFYI radio broadcasts on Monday evenings at 10:00 pm.
