Holiday Inn Express & Suites Indianapolis Dtn-Conv Ctr Area

We have stayed at Holiday Inn Express hotels many times. Went here thinking we had reservations, but I accidentally booked on the wrong week. Desk person on this occasion was extremely unhelpful and rude. Had to find something else last minute, luckily we did. I do not recommend this location. Traveling for business is hard enough and I don’t need hassled by the hotel staff for an honest mistake.

Always a good choice when traveling to Indianapolis for work. Great location and close to several local attractions. Rooms have ample space along with nice amenities

I stayed here last week when I was in town for Thanksgiving…
Two incidents happened that I believe are unacceptable.
1. In the first few minutes of being in my room. The front desk called and said my phone was dialing 911. A gentlemen came up and «fixed it». This is not a good feeling.
I ordered food and went to bed.
2. When I woke up in the AM. I went to take a shower (this was my first time in the restroom). What I saw on the toilet seat is unacceptable. I have attached a picture.
I have contacted both the hotel, and hotel chain about the incident. Here is what I received back…

HAHAH, Not the answer I was looking for…

Hotel definitely appeared nice. Day time front desk were very helpful and nice. Around 1 am my fiancé was woke up by bites and lumps all over we actually saw bed bugs and told the overnight staff. The problem. He stated «I’m sure they’re not bedbugs we haven’t had a problem with that in a long time and if it’s any bugs I’m certain it’s something other than bedbugs» he refused to come look at all the bugs in the sheets. I’m assuming in order to avoid admitting they were in fact bedbugs. Anyway he offered another room but by 2 am and dealing with a attitude from him as if we were annoying him we decided to leave. Not saying we won’t stay at another hie just definitely won’t in downtown indy

Holiday Inn Express is usually not on my radar as a hotel of choice. But after a family gathering here last weekend, I must say I’m pleasantly surprised!
The hotel itself appears very new and shiny. The rooms are all very spacious and clean. The mattress was great! I even found a *good* pillow to lay my head! That is a huge plus in my book. Breakfast was of the usual «hot» breakfast items included with the stay… nothing to write or complain about. What I will say is how the breakfast/​lobby area is decorated. They must have used a professional decorator for this. The look is polished, cozy, yet not over stuffed. I even liked the tastefully decorated Colts blue Christmas tree!
If you are here for a Colts game, you are in luck. It is directly across the street from the stadium. But if you are here for some of the downtown bars and restaurants… it is not so ideal. The hotel is about 3 big blocks from Circle Center – a pretty painful walk in the cold or rain. Parking is not convenient if you take your car. Once the spots in the small hotel surface lot are taken, you get to park in a city garage behind the hotel. We were faced with the same dilemma. But we happily settled on going next door to Tavern on South so all is not lost.

We travel to nearly all of the Saints away games and try to stay near the stadium. We were there for the preseason game in August and had a great experience.
The rooms were comparable to the JW Marriot down the street and the service was excellent. I also like that you don’t get nickel-​and-​dimed to death with fees for wifi and so on.
The staff was excellent and we were routinely greeted enthusiastically by lots of them — even in Saints jerseys :-).
And it is right across the street from the stadium. Good thing because it rained that day as we were leaving.

This is a great little full service hotel.
It has a great central location to downtown and it’s very easy to walk to many places. The staff is very helpful and very courteous. I’ve enjoyed my stay here for the last eight days.

Experience was excellent! Very accommodating and friendly staff at the front desk.
Free breakfast was tasty and we were said hello to by almost every staff member we encountered! We visited another HIX in Greenfield, IN and encountered the same thing!

Thanks to hotwire for the amazing stay I had did this hotel. The room was very spacious and clean and everyone was very courteous. Definitely stay here again.

The room was clean and comparable to others. Parking cost $ 14! The clerk said all Indy hotels charge… but why not be different? The shower sometimes lost a little pressure and made noise but it was still a nice shower. The pool area was clean. The pool was excessively filled with chemicals. They have a whirlpool too which is rare these days. The breakfast was decent.

The check in clerk was nice, but I was amazed how long her boss Patsy let the line get before she decided to help. Then the maintenance man closed the pool for 5 minutes yet put a sign up at 8 am that it would be closed until 10 am. After voicing my annoyance to check out clerk I left annoyed when her response pretty much «sorry» not understanding I dressed my two children for a morning of swimming only to find out upon check out the pool was only closed five minutes. After filling out survey hotel sent and sending a complaint Patsy emailed me apologizing saying she gave me 3000 extra priority club points. I wanted to respond telling her she was part of the problem but I’m not sure it’s worth it. It’s ok but over all I was very unimpressed with management.

Clean and efficient. However, the coffee was cold.

We chose to stay hear because we were going to the Monster Jam show at Lucas Oil Stadium. We were suprised at the low rates for a hotel right across the street from a venue. The hotel and room were clean and well maintained. The breakfast was more than I expected. Overall we enjoyed our stay and would definitely stay her again. One tip: if you are driving to the hotel, there is more parking in the garage to the Southwest of the hotel. At first I thought it was just the lot next to the hotel and that filled up fast.

Average at best
The Hotel Clerk was not the friendliest person, nor did she bother to look for the key that was left for me by my room mate earlier that evening as I arrived later — at least not until I called my room mate who told me it has my NAME ON IT — then she found it.
We had a suite and it was ok and it was clean, however, the bathroom smelled like piss. That was room 506 or 504 whatever the number around the corner from the elevator.
The breakfast was not really something to get excited about — fake eggs, a pancake machine, juices, fake sausage, bascially stuff I do not eat.
The worst part, aside from the heavy smell of piss in the bathroom, was the parking. Had the parking been better I would have given 3 stars.
If you are lucky to get a spot in the lot outside, you are one of the few. They share the City parking garage that is behind the hotel, but the entrance is almost a block away — extremely inconveneient — especially if you forget something in your car. You literally walk through an alley (that is a pass through for vehicles) and around a corner as there is only ONE entrance — and of course it faces the Comfort Suites Hotel and not the Holiday Inn…
If you to stay in Indy, I would suggest the Conrad! FAR better hotel than the Holiday Inn!
My first time in Indy and I REALLY liked the nightlife and Restaurants! VERY good!

Pros:
–The room was clean
–Our jacuzzi suite; the tub was awesome and worked properly unlike other suites I’ve had at other hotels.
–Location was right near everything we wanted to see in Indianapolis
–The shop with essentials, and some basic food was nice. Decently priced and not completely marked up.
Cons:
–Waiting 10 minutes to check in at 6:30 PM. Nobody was at the desk, and as other employees walked by, they said nothing to us, and didn’t bother to try to find someone or offer to.
–The walls were very thin. Everytime someone would turn the water on for the tub or shower on either side of us, it would keep me awake, and I’m not exactly a light sleeper.
–14 bucks to park in a lot that had maybe 20 spots was a joke. What’s with this new trend of charging for parking at hotels? I’m already overpaying you. It didn’t even say anything about it on their website either.
–They had a shuttle, which was 5 bucks each way. And on a Saturday night and you end at 9:45? Why bother?
–Their breakfast was okay. The pancakes out of the pancake machine were weird in texture and rubbery. I just stuck to bagels, the cinnamon rolls were awesome, and some biscuits and gravy

5 stars for a Holiday Inn? Everyone was extremely friendly and courteous, from the staff checking us in, to the housekeeping crew, to the shuttle driver, to the people working the breakfast area in the morning.
Location is south of the convention center, short walk to one of the entrances, right next door to Lucas Oil Stadium, the rest of the immediate surrounding area is questionable, but there is a great little bar next door also.
The room was clean each time we came back, towels were fresh, A/​C & heater worked properly, room was spacious (we did get a suite).
All in all, this place was pretty darn good.
Oh and the internet worked perfectly for us, and we were on the 6^th floor. I would definitely stay here again if I was going to the convention center or the Lucas Oil Stadium, if I were here just visiting, I might choose something a little closer to the center of downtown Indy, but even the walk back I made at 3:30 am felt safe.

Beware the parking scam! They won’t tell you when you make the reservation, but when you arrive to check-​in they charge you $ 12 /​night for parking. I can understand why they charge during football games (because the hotel is literally next door to Lucas Oil Stadium) but when i checked in, it wasn’t even football season!!! :) To their credit, after some complaining they removed the parking charge.
Not quite «holiday inn express» quality. The pool had no chlorine, and both of the two treadmills were broken in the workout facility. Rooms were nice and clean… no problems there, which is most important. Free WiFi.

We decided to stay at this hotel at the very last minute. Upon arrival at around 1130pm we went to the front desk and no one was there. After saying «excuse me is anyone here» a bunch of times we were finally greeted by a very rude host. Ok, you work in a service industry you should at least be nice. This guy actor like he was doing us a favor by letting us stay at this place. Obviously we thought we must of woken him up and didn’t want to have to do his job but whatever, we are tired and just want to get to our room.
So that night we wanted to get a bottle of water and we went the vending machine and put the money in, pressed for the water and a diet coke came out! Wtf!!! Again, whatever!
Next night, lets try to go to a different vending machine on a different floor to get water, 5^th floor… no water. 4^th floor… no water. 3^rd floor… no water… 2^nd floor guess what? no water and not only that it ate the money!
So we go down to the front desk and of course, no one there. We say «excuse me «, «hello», over and over and finally Mr. Happy face shows up again and says he was on the phone with a total rude look on his face. We tell him that all the vending machines are out of water and it ate our money. He looks at us like we are Martians and says «yeah we are out of water» and tells us to grab something else from the cooler by his desk. How is a hotel out of water?
The room was clean and the maid was nice and everything else was terrible.
Oh I almost forgot, the complimentary breakfast was brutal! Fake eggs, a machine that makes pancakes that taste like rubber, bacon with fat all over it!!! That’s from 7am-​10am, and right at 10am the girls come out of the kitchen and take anything left from breakfast. I saw a girl getting coffee and she turned to get the sugar and BAM!!! the kitchen girl grabbed the coffee pot!
NEVER, NEVER, NEVER will go back there!

As Holiday Inn Express Hotel’s go, this one is top-​notch. Good service, GREAT room, good location (right across from Lucas Oil Stadium — I mean right across the street) and decent parking. The rates are very reasonable and the breakfast was piping hot.
When travel takes me back to downtown Indianapolis, I’ll be staying here.

The room itself isn’t bad — the king nonsmoking room comes with a Jacuzzi, the bed was comfortable, and the room was clean and satisfactory.
The internet, however, was not. On the third floor (out of six total) the connection was so poor that my laptop could barely detect it, and could not connect to it whatsoever. From the lobby, however, the internet is fine.
Also in the lobby is a microwave for anyone to use, and there is a small store that sells frozen dinners and other travelling needs. From the room you can hear doors slamming in the hallway. The parking lot is extremely small — what seems to be part of the parking lot on one side of the building is actually reserved parking for a restaurant. Those who can’t fit in the lot must park in a small garage next to a neighboring hotel.
However, what I feel that I must mention is the swimming pool/​whirlpool area. The first floor smells strongly of chlorine, and the pool itself is disgusting. The water was green, and, as I discovered, salty. What I thought was rust or chipped paint at the bottom of the pool actually turned out to be loose dirt. The whirlpool was also green and salty, and when the actual bubbles were turned on, the pool made a loud grating noise over which no conversation could be held (I think it had to do with a low water level — the noise came from holes near the top of the pool that seemed to match the ones underwater that made the bubbles).
