Heartland is a young and alive multi-​generational, multi-​ethnic, multi-​site church serving greater Indianapolis.

History

Established in 2001.

In February 2001, Pastor Darryn Scheske, his wife Loree, and their three young children started a Bible study with 18 people in attendance, most of which did not attend church. The group grew to an average of 30 people over the next two months, and in May, 12 people took part in Heartland’s first baptism service. That same month, after moving out of the Scheske’s home and into the Fishers Holiday Inn, Darryn and this upstart «simple» church signed a lease on the old Elek-​Tek Computer store building (our current building) at the corner of I-​69 and 96^th Street in Indianapolis. A summer of construction resulted in the grand opening of Adventureland Childcare on September 15, 2001, and, despite a torrential downpour, 154 people showed up for the «official» launch of Heartland Church on Sunday, October 14, 2001.

Today, Heartland is a multi-​generational, multi-​ethnic, multi-​site church serving thousands in greater Indianapolis.

Business Owner

Darryn Scheske is the Founding Pastor of Heartland Church, a multi-​generational, multi-​ethnic, multiplying church in Indianapolis, Indiana. The son of second-​generation missionaries, Darryn inherited his love for people in the islands of the Caribbean where he was raised. He has been married to his wife Loree for 25 years. They have a son and a daughter in college and one daughter in high school.

Called by Converge MidAmerica in 2000, the Scheske’s moved to Indianapolis to start a new church without knowing anyone in the city. Over the last decade over 2,000 people have been baptized in water, publicly declaring their faith in Jesus Christ. Today Heartland Church is attended by thousands of people in the greater Indianapolis area. Heartland has also launched nine other new church plants in Including one in Cincinnati, OH and Clearwater, FL.

Darryn currently serves as the Indiana Director for Church Planting for Converge MidAmerica.
