Specialties
One of a kind stoneware pottery for the home and garden.
I make vessels that allow you to drink your beer (coffee, tea, whiskey) out of a one-of-a kind piece of art! I specialize in functional pottery – mugs, bowls, etc, that are perfect for everyday use. I occasionally make fun little native birds of Indiana as ornaments, quirky yarn bowls, and squids tend to sneak into my designs when I’m not paying attention.
History
Established in 2014.
Fiona is the sole clay-splattered artist at Dancing Pottery. Although she has a full-time day job, she spends all the extra hours she can kicking the wheel in her tiny studio tucked into the corner of her home in the Fountain Square neighborhood of Indianapolis.
Dancing Pottery can be seen in real life once a month at the Greenwood Farmer’s Market during the warm season, several weeknights at Beech Grove Clay Works, and at several festivals around Indy. Please check out dancingpottery.com or use Yelp’s «message the business» for more information on when and where you can find Dancing Pottery.

Way back in 1995, I took a wheel throwing class in my last year as an undergrad. I loved it! But I didn’t get near another wheel all through graduate school or for the next decade as I built my career in conservation. Life was and continues to be crazy busy as I play with maps at work, get to travel for work and fun, garden, camp, play and dance with my wonderful husband and friends.
In 2011, I got back behind the wheel again. I was delighted to find wonderful little studio, Beech Grove Clayworks, that offered affordable pottery classes nearby. Since then, I’ve been a member of the studio and have been obsessively throwing pots ever since! I still take classes at the BGCW and help out at the studio. Then I spend all the extra hours I can kicking the wheel in my tiny studio tucked into the corner of my garage in the Fountain Square neighborhood of Indianapolis.
