go here if you want to overindulge on mediocre chinese style food. just a couple pointers… –it’s located in a barren strip mall. no eye-catching signage or anything, just«China Gourmet» above the door. — it’s a great value for the price. under $ 9 including a drink? heck yeah, baby — Gourmet? not by a long shot, unless delicacies like«General To’s Chicken» count(no, I didn’t spell it wrong) — like pick and peel shrimp? It’s on the buffet, kind of. more like pick-n-pick-n-pick-n-pick-n-pick-n-pick-n-pick-n-pick-n-pick-n-peel shrimp. I didn’t know they made genetically modified shrimp designed to keep their shell on we got there early for the dinner rush, so they weren’t cycling through the trays of food fast enough, that being said, by the time I got to the dumplings(steamed wontons), they hardened. that all being said, as we’re from out of town, there’s a pretty good chance I won’t be back, but should I find myself in Indy again, I’ll be here.

Small clean relaxing restaurant. Food is always fresh and hot. Typical menu; nice prices. When I want Chinese food I come here. Owners are very nice!

I really enjoy going to China Gourmet when I have a taste for some oriental cuisine. I’m from the east coast and I find that not all carry-out Asian restaurants are created equal. And not all have the taste I’m always looking for. But China Gourmet hi I love their Singapore Chow Mei Fun. It’s the thin rice noodles with this spicy sauce with veggies and meat. At other places, I find it can be too hot… too bland or just off. China Gourmet hits the mark I will say it would be nice if I loved their egg rolls as much as their noodles. The rolls are small and fried too hard. There isn’t too much to the filling.

The food quality is excellent and tastes great, it was freshly prepared and hot! I really appreciate the prompt delivery service to the Beech Grove area. They are often here before the quoted delivery time! I think the quality of food is much better than any other Chinese delivery available in the beech grove area. And would recommend to anyone!

I have to say I did not really enjoy my dinner here. It was fine. My egg roll was a little over done and while the food I ordered was ok the rice was not all that spectacular and my friends meals did not look appetizing. The Orange Chicken my friend ordered had a sauce so thick it looked like jello. She says that’s the way she prefers it however I think I will be going to another location to have Chinese food.

First, the owners are great. They are locals and take pride in the Beech Grove area. They are super friendly. The facility is clean and well-kept. The food is made fresh to order, and can be burn-your-mouth hot if you’re dining in. Their lo mein is delicious; and the bourbon chicken is great. He’ll make it as spicy as you want it! My favorite is their General Tso chicken; I can never eat it all! They also deliver or take orders for carry out. They have an online ordering system which is really handy, but I end up wanting something customized so I will call or just show up. The wait is never too long for food.

This is not your average egg roll #1. Often times when I go to a typical Chinese restaurant and I order a battered chicken I’m not even sure if what’s inside of the little nuggets is chicken. It seems like they use all white meat chicken breast for every entrée they have. Granted portions are a bit smaller here but the food is worth it! I recommend Broccoli chicken or broccoli beef

Everything I want in asian food. Felt like I was eating dinner at the owners home. As I sat and listened to the wok sounds coming from the kitchen I knew it was going to be good. Lo Mein, Pad thai, orange chicken and Thai chicken were ordered and consumed. The orange chicken was especially good, as were the crab rangoon. The pad thai was excellent and hit all the notes of thai food. If you dont support these nice people you are doing your stomach a dis-service. Go, go now and go often. I know I am going back tonight.

Food was good; I ordered curry chicken, egg drop soup, and crab rangoon. Nothing out of the ordinary, but everything was freshly prepared, not gummy, and tasted good. Interior was very clean. The owners are a husband and wife, and their little boy(I’d guess 3 – 4 years old) came out and chatted with me for a few minutes. He cheerfully delivered my bagged order to me after his mother instructed him to say«Thank you for coming»…my heart melted! Then, he put down his toy cell phone and chirped«Here, I will get the door for you!» and proceeded to heave open the glass door as I left. The owners had up a Christmas tree and had put some decorations out on the tables and on the walls. I love restaurant families, maybe just because I’m part of one. I’ll definitely be back if I end up in Beech Grove needing Chinese food.

This place is now called China Gourmet but still in the same location! I just went for the first time and it was perfect. The food was hot and fresh. The service was super friendly and the dining area is clean and spacious! This is some of the best, cheap Asian food in Indianapolis. The best part is the kind family that owns it.

Reallllly good. Highly reccomend the general tso chicken. I think it’s better than an asian massage parlor… and I love those places.

It’s been over a year and this place deserves a refresh review. I was recently in the neighborhood during the dinner hour and decided to stop by. I haven’t been here often, but every time I am, I am blown away by the flavors and spice of the dishes. Not«hot»(unless you ask them to make it hot) but very flavorful. Very fresh spices are used. This time I had the Ginger Chicken. Great! Most of the dishes are Chinese standards, but done up in a Thai-fusian sort of way. It kind of reminds me of Teriyaki Japan in Castleton, with does a Japanese-fusion on Chinese cuisine. I’m sure this restaurant could do better in a better location. They’ve never been busy when I’m there. If you’re on the southern leg of I-465 around lunch or dinner, take the Emerson exit, go north a block and a half, and have a meal there. Talk it up among your friends. It deserves your support.

We were staying in a hotel on the outskirts of town, and this was the only place(other than fast food chains) nearby. It is located in a stripmall, and needless to say, we weren’t expecting much. However, I was impressed from the minute we came through the door. The inside is nicely decorated– colorful and modern, unlike most chinese places. My husband ordered General Tso’s chicken(I wish he would branch out) and I got some chicken curry. We ate takeout, so I can’t say anything about service beyone the fact that our food was ready in less than 5 minutes. The curry was delicious, and the fried rice above average. Everything was extremely affordable. A good dining experience all around.
