The best mussels in Indy! Excellent pomme frites with tons of dipping sauces to choose from. Great atmosphere, friendly service! Must try the Provencal or Red Curry!

I like Brugge fine. Good drafts, good crepes, good fries and sauces if that is your thing(fries aren’t really my thing, knocking this down a personal star). The cheese and fruit appetizer plates are a favorite, though, and we definitely will continue to stop here on an occasional basis.

Came in for the first time tonight and ordered the grilled chicken/pesto/mozzarella sandwich on French bread, and it came with fries. The chicken seemed to have no seasoning whatsoever. Maybe salt and pepper at most. No grill marks, so maybe it was baked? The sandwich overall was just bland. The sandwich came covered in a mountain of fries, which I had really been anticipating since they are a large part of their menu. I ordered the roasted garlic aoli and house-made ketchup as my sauces. The fries weren’t super crunchy as I like them, and just had a light sprinkle of salt. Sauces were just ok.

Every time I visit Indianapolis this is one of my favorite spots to eat! I love the chicken pesto sandwich the pome frites as much as it’s possible to love any food items. They also have fantastic mussels and a great patio area. The staff are always friendly and courteous.

This place has some of the best beer and food I have had in the Broad Ripple area. They have a great outdoor seating section located right off the Monon that makes for amazing people watching. I have had the crepes, the steak and eggs, and the chicken sandwich and all were amazing. Their fries are delicious and I recommend the garlic aioli dipping sauce. I was not a fan of the curry. As far as beers go, the White is a go-to but the sour is a close second– not too bitter or pucker-inducing but very good. Brugge on!

A great restaurant, in a great village. The atmosphere makes you want to stay all night. It’s the feel of an old collegiate bar, that can still hold its own with all the changes going on around it. A true staple of the old Broad Ripple(the way used to be). The steak and frites are a constant craving between my girlfriend and I, and their micro brews are some of the best in town. The portion sizes are the best size for price I’ve seen in a long time. My girlfriend and I share a steak and frites with an egg and its plenty for two people, which saves more money for the tipping the service team, which have always been great to us. Always very friendly, and willing to converse.

FACT: If I could only eat one food for the rest of my life, it would be frites. Luckily, Brugge is within WALKINGDISTANCE of my house. Here I can eat enough frites for 1, 2, or 4 people, and dip them in up to 12 different types of sauce. That means I can have a l’enorme amount of frites and all the sauces for $ 12.95. This is like a dream come true for this potato queen. Are the frites legit you ask? YES. Crispy on the outside, mashed potato-y on the inside, with a seasoning of pepper. Dunk one in the poplar syrup and french dijon for the complete effect, and you’ve got yourself a one divine potato. In short: pull up a chair at the patio and go l’enorme or go home.

A unique gem in Broad Ripple — great for a date or date night with the spouse. Belgian /French cuisine, with fairly strong flavors — not for those unwilling to experiment or try something new outside of the typical American fare. I would highly recommend getting a cheese plate — a great value that comes with fruit, fruit compote, crostini, nuts and cheese. I don’t think you can go wrong with any of the cheese options. If you are a wine lover, be sure to ask for a recommendation from your server for a wine that will pair well with the cheese and/or entrée that you have selected. The pomme frites(French fries) are a lot of fun as an appetizer, and come with a selection of dipping sauces. You may get fries with your meal, so be careful not to end up with too many. Be sure to a save room for a crêpe for dessert!!! Yummy! It’s even a good option for a nightcap of a crêpe and/or some wine. The inside dining area is dark and somewhat crowded, we prefer to sit outside on a nice day /evening. Parking in Broad Ripple can always be tough, so don’t give up! Try going up the hill near the back of McDonald’s.

I lived in Belgium for a semester in school and have been so glad to live near a great Belgian restaurant like Brugge! The food is great and fairly authentic! The frites are awesome and they sauces they have are great. They don’t have my favorite sauce that I would get in Belgium however they have my second favorite-andalouse. My favorite dish in Belgium was the Carbonade.(I’m not a fan of mussels but I’ve heard good things about them here.) overall, the food and drinks are wonderful and the atmosphere is very nice. They have outdoor seating when the weather is nice so I expect to be there a lot this summer.

Brugge is one of my favorites. I didn’t know I liked mussels until I tried theirs. The Provençal are my favorite! I don’t think they always have the smores crêpe on their menu, but whenever they do, it’s a must-have. Ambiance is great, but the wait can be really long, and they don’t take reservations.

At times the options in Broad Ripple can seem to be less than exciting. However, this place adds a splash of something different! Starting with the beer… They brew their own and it’s pretty good but a pretty small selection. The food is on point! Frites on frites on frites! I also tried their crepes which were perfectly cooked. The service was decent and moved us in and out pretty quickly.

Casual, laid back atmosphere with the most amazing 2 lb pot of mussels. Recently lounged on the outdoor patio with a girlfriend with a citrus sour beer along with mussels and frites. This place is also a great date spot that involves physical touch and breaking of bread together(since you have to dip the bread in the sauce at the bottom of the pot). I could come back here over 20 times and not get bored by the countless sauce options for your mussels and the frites. We chose the traditional Provençal with a white wine, garlic and lemon base, but will definitely come back to try the citrus lime among others. For the frites, favorite sauces include their aioli, homemade ketchup, and pesto. A great spot for multiple occasions with delicious food and a great beer selection. Time to try the next sauce combination soon!

Love the Brugge! The duck crepes are awesomely oniony. The frites are some of the best I’ve ever have. If you get the largest size, it comes with a fabulous variety of dipping sauces. There is something there for everyone!

I literally told my friends I felt like I was on an episode of(wo)Man vs. Food. For $ 12, I ordered the sausage and roasted red pepper mitraillette that comes with Brugge’s signature frites and choice of two sauces. What greeted me on the plate was a MOUNTAIN of frites. Like enough for three people to share. I couldn’t even see my sandwich and had to dig like it was the California gold rush. In all honestly, I found the frites to be too peppery. They were a good texture but just too seasoned for me and overall not that«wow.» The housemade ketchup was too sweet and had me craving good ol’ Heinz. The sandwich was just okay, too — hard to eat it was so large. I brought home a good half of my food there was so much. I’m stuffed — and not in a good way. If I returned, I would go for a savory crêpe which(I hope) would be a lighter option. I wasn’t in love with the vibe of the place either. Just overall disappointing, I’m sorry to say.

Brugge gets 4 stars for the Asian mussels. I’ve had some 5 star meals at Brugge and some 3 star meals. It all averages out to 4 stars. I was a math major. Here is the good — Awesome space in Broad Ripple(especially in the summer), the meatball sandwich is divine(point me to a meatball sandwich I don’t like however), and the Asian mussels will literally make you want to leave your table, walk to the kitchen, and shake the chefs hand. The sauce andalouse is the winner in the fry sauces. I literally want to LOVE Brugge because it’s one of the coolest spots in Indy. However, I’ve had a few mussel pots that lack flavor. I eat it because it’s mussels but the broth needs to be kickass. I would steer you away from the Provençal and the Blue, unless of course you prefer no flavor and all calories. Here are two tips to get you through your Brugge meal successfully — the holes in the table — it’s for your fries, not the water. Don’t look so American by putting your drink in there. Second, when you get your mussels, build a little tower on one side of the pot to reveal the Asian juices. By doing this, you can aptly spoon the broth onto each mussel. Otherwise, you’re eating dry mussels. No one wants dry. Always moist with the mussels.

Brugge was one of the first places we visited years ago when we first moved to Indy and it has been a place we have been back to several times. First, the location. One block off Broad Ripple Avenue, it’s a natural stop for dinner during a day in Broad Ripple. In the summer, they even have outdoor seating and are right off the Monon trail. If you have access to the trail, you could even bike there. Next, of course, the biggest item of them all… the food. Brugge has some of my favorite food in town, with some of their specialties being pomme frites(Fries) and moules frites(mussels). Let’s start with the fries. Get the l’enorme order. It comes out in a huge paper cone they put in the hole in the middle of the table. It also comes with a plethora of amazing sauces. Honestly, could be a meal in itself if I had any self control. Then, the mussels… amazing. They have a variety of different flavors that dictate what they will be steamed with. My personal favorite is the Jamaican with jalapeño, jerk, lime and garlic. Those who know me know I like hot and this does the trick. The mussels come out in a small kettle and are always generous in portion. I could eat them all day. For dessert, I’m partial to the nutella crêpe. Brugge also brews some of their own beers and they tend to be quite good. Several are seasonal, so they may not be available all the time. Even though I’m not a big«fruity beer» person, their Pooka is absolutely delicious! I think for what you get here, the pricing is very reasonable. My only grip about Brugge(and the only thing that keeps us from coming in here more often) is that the service leaves a little bit to be desired. The staff can seem a bit abrasive and even impatient at times. Not sure why that is the case, but it is the only reason this is a 4-star and not a 5-star review.

It was extremely crowded in this small space(almost uncomfortable), and the patio was full too. The service wasn’t bad for as busy as it was, although not very friendly. I got Waterzooi, the quintessential Belgian fish stew and it was absolutely fantastic! The French bread it came with was crusty and delicious. I could eat this every day!

This is my boyfriend’s favorite restaurant in all of Indy. Even before he moved back to town he would often mention Brugge with a dreamy smile on his face. His go-to order is the Hanger steak with eggs and pommes frites(pick from 8 — 12 different dipping sauces like vinegar and sea salt, homemade mayo, garlic aioli and curry). Knowing Brugge’s frequent use of duck(from Maple Leaf Farms in northern Indiana), I opted for the duck confit sandwich with onions and tart cherries. Delicious! Although, I think this sammie would make a great open face option(Step aside bread, I like to keep my duck center stage). If you’re looking to have the authentic Brugge experience, your order must include two things: beer and frites(beer is their own). Unfortunately, I wasn’t feeling in a beer mood last night, so I opted for the budget-friendly glass of wine. Note: they have bottles available for as low as $ 24. One more reason to love Brugge: outdoor seating is available both downstairs and up(fun view of the Monon and fellow Broad Ripple Village businesses). Love crepes? They offer both sweet and savory options.

I was in town for just a day visiting family. The menu sounded so yummy I just had to try it out. I love mussels and this place did not disappoint! Fresh tasking and flavorful. We also tried the crêpe and steak frites. Can I yell you this place had freaking amazing fries! Wish I coulda packed some up to bring back home. The only down part of the fries was the ketchup. I’m just not feeling the homemade catchup. Too sweet. The crêpe was delish as well. I would highly recommend. Oh. One last thing… the staff… can you say awesome !!! If I lived in Indianapolis I would go back. The lack of five stars was only because of the ketchup :-/
