Airtron Heating & Air Conditioning

In 2010, I had Airtron replace my home’s heat pump and furnace. The next couple of summers we experienced drought conditions and I didn’t need to mow hardly at all. What does mowing have to do with a heat pump and furnace? I’m glad you asked. My furnace is located in the garage as is my mower. Well a few years later when I started mowing on a regular basis, we started noticing exhaust fumes were getting pulled into our house whenever I started my mower (it puts out a lot of exhaust fumes at startup). I called out a different service company and as we began looking over the furnace, it appears the two Airtron installers miscut two large squares in the square section of duct above our new furnace. These openings were to tie the return air duct and the downflow furnace together. Since they miscut, the Airtron technicians just flipped the square duct over and re-​cut the one good remaining side in order to fit the furnace. Measure twice and cut once apparently does not apply to the fine Airtron technicians. Needless to say, they left the two miscut openings in place without repairing. Since the openings butted up against the ceiling, I couldn’t see them from an external viewpoint. I assumed there isn’t anything I could do about it since the install was done a few years ago so I paid another $ 829 to a competent technician and his company to make it right. I would never recommend Airtron and I will share this story with everyone I talk to who is looking to have someone service their system. The Airtron bill was nearly $ 9,000 for the new heat pump and furnace and the technicians weren’t worth a plug nickel.
Now, our heat pump and furnace do not cycle on and off as much as they did before because all of that cold air that was getting pulled in through the two openings (each probable 12″ by 12″). Plus, our house is less dusty. I even had Airtron follow up when I thought the heat pump was cycling on and off too much but they couldn’t find anything wrong with the system. Hmmmm, imagine that. Please listen to me and do yourself a favor and DO NOT USE AIRTRON.

I had Airtron Indy install a new humidifier. The tech told my wife to call if she noticed any leaks. She checked the following morning and sure enough, there were leaks. Airtron was called. They came out, cleaned up the existing water, inspected the humidifier then claimed they could not find any leakage then wanted my wife to pay $ 89.95 for a service call. She refused. The tech left and my wife went back to the utility room and immediately smelled fresh glue indicating that the tech had worked on fixing the leaks but claimed there were none so he could charge for a service call. Pretty clever indeed. Turns out he did not do a very good job of fixing it as it continued leaking after he was gone. We took pictures and sent them to Airtron requesting the call to schedule an appointment to come fix it and put a stop payment on the check we gave them for the system and installation and are waiting for them to come back and fix their leaks before we issue another check.

My heater didn’t work suddenly and I called Airtron for service. I am a regular customer of Airtron and get tune-​ups done by them all the time.
First of all, this technician said a bird might be stuck (?) in the pipe and I have to pay for the service trip and removal of the bird. Of course, there was no bird! Then, he said that the circuit board was not working and quoted over $ 750 for repair. I couldn’t trust this technician and told him to leave.
Guess what! My heater is working fine again!!!
I hope Airtron train their technicians properly and teach them INTEGRITY!

Terrible customer service! I have had a home and brand new Airtron unit for little over two weeks and it has already failed. I called the «24hour emergency line» only to get told I would have to wait– even though my house was 85 degrees inside. I told them I had standing water and the wood underneath was soaked, but that didn’t matter. They said they would have to access the situation to see if it really is an issue with the system. They made it seem as if I had broke the unit, albeit it is merely two weeks old.

We had Airtron come out to give us a second opinion. Boy, were they way off base. They told us that we needed to cut a pipe, replace and reclamp and the cost would be close to 700.00. We had Long’s Heating and Cooling come and he knew right off what our problem was. All we needed was a circuit board. Thank goodness, we got a third opinion, or we would of spent all that money and still have no heat.

I really wish that I could do more than just leave a review like this. But since the issue is with my deceased father there is not much else that I can do. He was a long time customer of Airtron. He passed away in February of this year in a house fire. During the rebuilding process I have learned that Airtron sold my elderly father a heat pump unit that was far too large for the house. He had the unit serviced every year and I assume that someone must have told him that the previous unit was bad, even though it was not all that old. I remember when it was replaced and it was not over 6 years old!!! It’s obvious to me that Airtron took advantage of him and sold him something he didn’t need. I live in another state and, not having been there, I can’t say for certain that there was nothing wrong the previous unit. But still, they did not need to sell him something he did not need! No one in the neighborhood has a heat pump near this big!!! And there are many homes larger than his!!!
I called Airtron earlier this year and a woman got snotty with me on the phone. She said their service people never do things like this, that they have an A+ rating with the BB and are on Angie’s list. Well, I’ve had dealings with companies before that have had similar ratings and they’ve been some of the most rotten people I’ve ever come to know!!! Those ratings say very little as far as I’m concerned! And seeing the previous post tells me that I’m correct! I just hope that a little thing called Karma comes around for a visit with Airttron and the people responsible!

First, I will say that everyone we have dealt with at Airtron was very nice. The biggest issues are the company’s business practices, and excessive pricing.
We had an AC system go out, that was under warranty (less than five years old). We contacted Airtron, and before setting up an appointment, they wanted first to sell us a service contract. This should have been the first clue that lining their pockets comes first, customer comfort, last! They came out for the service call the next day, and indicated the $ 70 part was covered but Airtron wanted over $ 1,200 for the work. And it would be three-​four days before they could get the part due to «paperwork» to get the warranted part. In short, they wanted to get paid by the manufacturer before they would install the part. I called them back to express the displeasure in the cost and service, and they responded by… trying to sell me different service contracts!
I checked with Unilocal and the BB, and called two other reputable companies, and we were provided quotes in the $ 250 to $ 600 range. We went with the higher quote, and they indicated that they would secure the part, and be on site the next day. They would submit the warranty paper work after the installation, which shows just how much they put us first! I even offered to pay in advance for the $ 70, part… they said no, they would take care of it and us! Wow, service!
I contacted Airtron again, to let them know the disparity of the pricing they provided us and I was told «We can’t compete with the Mom and Pop companies because we have more overhead…». So there you go. We ended up getting great service and support from a «Mom and Pop» company, LCS, that was highly rated in Unilocal
