Specialties
We specialize in learning difficulties in both children and adults. We offer real hope to individuals with difficulties in reading, spelling, communication, attention, and general academics. Our approach is new and different than conventional methods of dealing with learning problems. Careful testing is performed to identify the root causes (rather than just the symptoms) of learning difficulties. The testing examines how the brain processes, remembers, and applies what is seen and heard. Diagnoses are made based on information provided by these tests. Finally, corrective programs and therapies are applied, all supported either by clinical results or by neuroscience research. The result is genuine correction of learning disabilities.
History
Established in 1996.
Restored Hope Remedial Services was founded by Ken Schmidt. It was the outgrowth of years of searching for help for his students who did not progress well in the classroom. Ken worked over 20 years as an elementary teacher. In 1996, he quit teaching to devote his full time to working with children and adults with learning problems. Over the years, he has developed an extensive battery of tests which examine how the brain processes, remembers, and applies information it receives. After testing, results are carefully scrutinized and diagnoses are made based on those results. Recommendations for remediation are made to the parents or individual which correct the underlying causes of the learning difficulty. Remediation therapies include such programs as Fast ForWord by Scientific Learning, Lindamood-Bell, Interactive Metronome, PACE by Learning Rx, and Play Attention by Unique Logic. These programs are backed by clinical results and neuroscience research and are very successful.
