Clearly, to cant be the worst place to take your sick kid or they wouldn’t be in business. But that said, I’d say they’re probably pretty low on the list for pediatricians. Despite hearing multiple complaints from other mom-friends, we chose this doctor because my sister-in-law takes her kids there. I honestly question if these pediatricians have the proper training and education for their job. I feel like 99% of the time we have taken my daughter in with a cold, all they do is check for strep and give her some Tylenol. She doesn’t even have to have strep symptoms, and this is the conclusion they jump to. Even after that happening multiple times, I didn’t feel they warranted a 2-star review. Until today. I received an invoice from my insurance company yesterday regarding a visit last month. I realized the pediatrician didn’t have my updated insurance info, so I called today to resolve the billing issue. Independence Pediatrics’ billing gal informs me that they haven’t even processed their billing from the day I am claiming. Kay… How does my insurance company have it then? She has no answer, just keeps saying, «well, there’s not much I can do without the information in front of me.» She then proceeds to tell me that BCBS of Kansas and BCBS of KC are the same thing(they’re not.) but its her job to know these things. So clearly their billing department could use as much help as their medical staff. And still more. Their lobby is never clean and inviting. I cringe at the thought of my already-sick kids sitting in that filthy lobby. I, of all people, understand exactly how disgusting kids can be. But given that yoffice deals only with children, you’d think there could/would be extra measures taken to insure that their lobby be regularly sanitized and disinfected. We have given them the benefit of doubt one time too many. I think we will be looking of a new doctor.
