I don’t know quite what to make of this place. It’s an isolated venue and the atmosphere when you get there — a combination of staff on duty and behavior and size of the crowd — seems unpredictable to me. If the vibes are bad, there you are, stuck at least 20 minutes’ drive from any alternatives. I haven’t tried the food and frankly I’m not crazy about Rogue’s beers.

«THEYNEEDTOGETOUT» That is what is the man pouring beers yelled at my kids after they strayed from the eating into the unmarked serving area. We are more than happy to respect your rules if we know what they are. This is a really cool idea for a nice summertime hangout to have a beer and play some games outside, but after that outburst we packed up and left never to return again.

I have a big back story with the property at Rogue. I grew up there and lived in that big beautiful white house for a good portion of my life. My Dad still manages the farm and makes sure those beautiful hops grow to make that great beer. My now husband and myself were married there this October and the only way to describe the service was absolutely wonderful! Bulent and his lovely wife Cher were amazing! They were so accommodating and made sure we were very taken care of! And one of their employees, Lacey, he was beyond great! He took care of our guests when it came to drinks and being a busy bride, every time I had an empty wine glass, there was Lacey to replace it for me without even asking! At the end of the evening as our guests were leaving, I was trying to clean up a little of the mess and there was Lacey again, helping me walk around with a garbage bag to get the mess cleaned up quicker. I highly recommend them as a wedding venue or event venue, but also as a quick stop in to have a great beer. We had the best weekend possible and a lot of that was because of the brewery’s great service! Thank you so much for everything! Wouldn’t change a thing :)

Looking for a family friendly place to enjoy some amazing beer? Look no farther, large lawns with plenty of seating. Farm tours, work shops, killer good food. Farm animals and yard games for every one ! Live music and of course COLDBEER. You can even arrange to stay in the vintage farm house.

The beer is delicious, the venue picturesque, but the food is overpriced for the quality and portions. Amend this, and this place would get 5 stars. You have one year, Rogue!

Great brews and atmosphere! What more could you ask than to sit in the middle of hop fields and enjoy a few brews. Though Rogue is a bit pricey, it was worth it. We came and did the 5k/10k for the Fourth of July and had a blast running through the farm. They had issues with the grill, but once they got up and going it was smooth sailing. Definitely worth the travel and would come back again for both the race and the beers!

Took my dad and husband here for hops tour and beer tasting.(We went the end of April… The hops were just starting to grow.) They have a lovely seating area and great beers to drink. There was a food truck and games for kids to play. Very family and dog friendly. I wish we could have hung out there all afternoon! I definitely plan on going back in August for the harvest!

Mother’s Day at the Farm was a delight even with how busy they were. The beer, music, tour of the grounds, and the gorgeous weather all added up to one Happy Mother’s Day! Glad we found this place for a new Mother’s Day experience with my family!

I’d like this place a bunch more if the bartender wasn’t a jerk. Instead of being hospitable he was snarky and self indulgent. Way to make your customers feel awkward. The beer was good, great even. The place is a blast when the weather is good with plenty of outdoor tables, games and hop field scenery.

During the summer months the Chatoe is in terrible need of a register/ordering station outside on the picnic grounds. Cramming people inside the tiny tasting room, who want to quickly purchase a beer and get back to their corn hole or Jenga game on the lawn, makes for unhappy customers. It’s especially hard when other customers don’t realize the extensive line and decide to ask for a taste/sample of everything on tap. The current staff need a real lesson in customer service and hospitality. I miss the couple that used to run the farm.

Beer, as to be expected when frequenting Rogues, was great and imaginative. The location is fun and interesting. Unfortunately, the food was mediocre at best, and very expensive considering the portion size and sides(potato chips out of a bag). Sandwiches were $ 10 – 12, but sized and appointed for a happy hour menu, where I would happily pay $ 4 for them. I suspect the Chatoe’s remote location, without any competing restaurants for at least ten miles away, is partly to blame for the disproportionate prices. Additionally, the staff did not seem particularly hospitable, or familiar with working the bar equipment. I would also suggest adding locations for ordering and asking questions about the beer options; the congested bar area is often backed up with beer neophytes not yet acquainted with the different styles. I’ve had wonderful, cherished memories at Rogues in Newport and Portland, but this one misses the mark. Drive into Corvallis and try Block 15 brewery instead.

This place is one of a kind. It is located on an old farm in the country with an incredible setting. It is very friendly for kids and dogs. The food is limited but decent for a beer garden.

WORST food I have ever tasted in my life. Let me allow that to sink in. Worst. Food. My cheese quesadilla with hops was almost $ 10, as was the hot dog my husband ordered. It was a complete joke! Tasted awful as well as double the price of what it should be. To add insult to injury the service was extraordinarily lacking in enthusiasm and excitement. Our table was not cleared and we were offered only monosyllabic underwhelming responses. It’s getting two stars for the beautiful grounds keeping, free range turkeys and chickens that add a little excitement and the hazelnut shells they use instead of gravel. Clever! NOT worth the trip if you are hungry for even a snack. Because let me reiterate… the food is absolutely terrible.

Two words: Food truck!!! This summer the foods is run by an amazing, creative, talented chef. The highlight of my work week is seeing the photo of the weeks’ food truck menu pop up on my facebook news feed. The menu changes weekly, but the quality is always amazing!

We met some friends for dinner at the Rogue on a warm Saturday afternoon. The setting is beautiful and we really enjoyed being able to sit outside and enjoy the sunshine. Our experience would have been great, had it not been for the horrible, overpriced food. They served«brisket» tacos for $ 11, that appeared to be nothing more than greasy, ground beef tacos on a hard, stale, store bought shell. Taco Bell makes better tacos than these! None of the food we had tasted fresh or homemade and it was completely overpriced. Atmosphere was great and drinks were good, but we will not be going back there for the food.

This one is a difficult review. The atmosphere is to die for, but the service, the food and the price leave much to be desired. I arranged for 4 families(15 people) to have dinner on this relaxing hop farm, where The Rogue Brewery grows much of their hops. I introduced this venue to the other 3 families who had never heard of it before. We loved the country feel, with chickens, lovely river views and dining under apple trees. In the past patrons were allowed to bring their own picnics, which was fabulous. Now there is no outside food allowed and the only choice for one vegetarian family was an overpriced horrible(white cheddar cubes on spinach with a sprinkling of hazelnuts and horrible dressing) or french fries. The hot dogs were $ 8.00 each and mediocre sandwiches at 12.00 were also not impressive. We left with a $ 60.00 bill and hungry children($ 24.00 for 3 crappy hot dogs… what???) We had to come home and feed them dinner, again. My husband asked to taste a beer so he could decide if he liked it or not and was told it would cost him a dollar. He didn’t want a glass, shot, or even half a shot, just a sip, but was told to pay up or he would have to buy an entire pint. With pints at $ 6.00 and beer that has moved toward middle of the road, we are unwilling to take a chance on a pint. Not going back unless it is my husband and I with dinner plans somewhere else and all we get is beer. Great atmosphere, crappy everything else.

This is our«Cheers» where everybody knows our names. Yes we might visit too often during the rainy winter months, but it’s for a good reason. The staff is fabulous and friendly. It’s a haven for both beer geeks and those new to beer. The numerous events(concerts, salmon bakes, Thursday night summer classes, tours, etc) are yet another reason to visit. If I could give them 6 stars I would. Thanks Natasha and Josh for making this such a great place!

This is a family and date night favorite. We enjoy coming out on a nice sunny day and playing with the yard games or sneaking away for a winter date night. This place has wonderful food and great beer! We absolutely love the staff… They treat us like family. It is a wonderful place to visit with family and friends. I would highly recommend checking it out! =) We only wish it was closer to home! =)

The Rogue Chatoe is a far cry from the chaotic Rogue Brewery in Newport. At the Newport Rogue Brewery, it’s packed to the gills. But the Rogue Chatoe is a pleasant drive in the country, surrounded by hops. One can walk along the Willamette River. There are farm animals– chickens roaming around, one can feed the pigs. There are tours in the afternoon. The tasting room is homey, and there’s the hipster cache of a food truck. The beer tasting is surprisingly good. One can taste the difference between the hop varietals. It’s fun savoring the differences between Freedom(my favorite), Liberty, Rebel… even their root beer has a gourmet touch. Living in the Wine Country, beer is not my thing(obviously)… but I had a taste, and I’m a believer.
