It’s sad that what we saw demonstrated at lunch today was a specialized restaurant incapable of successfully executing is specialty. I stood at the bar surrounding their grill and watched as the two gentlemen burnt each of 7 dishes they prepared. Consistently, the ingredients are restaurant from the customer, dropped on the grill, and left to burn on one side before someone returns to stir it. I repeatedly observed that routine, and in each case the first stir moved the product to the side, revealing the hard crust created beneath. The four was flipped once and left to burn again. I counted my own ingredients flipped exactly four times. The result was a plate containing visibly burnt food. It was actually charred. The second star is for the tasty tomatoes on the salad bar. I can’t say I’ve seen a greater level of incompetence in a kitchen.

Love BD’s. Needed some lunch on my way from Kansas city to St. Louis and saw the sign for Bd’s. … decision made. Got in had good service and the cook was friendly and talkative. The food as usual was great. Too bad back home I don’t have one close.

I’ve eaten here several times and probably will eat here again since it’s located conveniently to where I live but I would not go out of my way to eat here. Overall food quality is alright. Variety is alright. My major complaint is how they cook it. They over cook part of it, while other parts are okay. The cooks are young men that seem to be fooling around and not taking it very seriously. Especially when it’s busy they leave the food sitting without turning it for way too long. It always comes out very dry. They put the spices in at the end and don’t thoroughly mix it, which makes it part bland and part overly spiced. Meh. They have an excellent beer tap selection. Pricey but excellent.

We went for Christmas Eve dinner and had a blast. Even the kids went back for 2 and 3 trips to try different things. Good food with good service. We all walked away happy and full.

I had to add a star for the amazing selection of craft beer! I was surprised to see the chalk board with all the selections listed in the bar area. It definitely gave this chain a smaller/more local feel. As far as the food goes, really the only person you can blame is yourself if you don’t like what you get. I mean come on, you pick all the ingredients, toppings, spices, sauces, etc. I guess you can complain how it is cooked but I did see an old fogey micromanaging the cook, «add more water», «spread it out thinner», «flip the meat». Come on, chill out, enjoy and fill your belly! I did!

There’s a management problem here. We never get good service, the servers don’t seem to have anyone managing them that cares. The meat is always frozen and sticking together, esp. Red meats. Last night the grillers let the sauces from someone else’s selection go onto mine which ruined my dinner. It’s like Denny’s with a grill.

I’ve had Mongolian BBQ multiple times, but this time I was little disappointed. Pros –wide variety of options to put in your stir fry –service was average –food wasn’t too bad –they added sweet potatoes! Yum Cons –the chicken still had ice on it in the dish, when I went up to fill my bowl up. Very unappetizing –For what you get I still feel like the prices are very expensive for average food at best. –I found it confusing that they didn’t have all the meats labeled nor the difference sauces. It could be helpful to let people know what these sauces closely taste like. –the sweet potatoes definitely should have stayed on the grill longer, everything else was cooked nice though. If I could I would give this place a 3 ½ stars instead of 4.

They are okay if you are looking for nothing special. They have average cooking, poor cleaning, and unengaged wait staff. People are active but not really doing anything, that I can see. It’s OK but not great.

200 beers? 200 beers. 200BEERS? 200BEERS! Seriously, the food here is fantastic with a decently wide selection, exactly what you’d want out of a Mongolian barbecue joint, and the colossal and varied beer selection is the icing on the cake. I last went in mid-April, and they had everything from the decently elusive Blushing Monk to my standby, Old Rasputin. There’s a massive amount of styles to try out and free samples for all of them. If you enjoy beer in the slightest, the selection on that front alone justifies the trip and expense. If you like this style of food, even better.

I am being liberal with my 3 star because we really do love this place… However, with that said the last 2 times we’ve been here there have been a few issues. First the wait staff is phenomenal… That’s where the good ends! The food areas the last 2 times have been FILTHY and missing some main ingredients… For this I blame the management who seem more concerned about what’s going on in the bar than making sure food is available… Also… As entertaining as the chefs are… They should probably focus a little more on cooking then doing tricks with their spatulas… Burned steak and crab aren’t that appetizing!!! I hope they read this and take to heart some criticism because we are close to finding another grill to go!!!

Stir fry kind of place With different stations 1) you get your bowl 2) choose your meat section 3) vegetables, 4) sauces. Then When your ready you bring it to the guys in a pit with a huge wok which they fry up your selection. They have a kids menu with chicken fingers and cheese bites. Also a dessert menu with fried Oreos as a choice. It was good. Friendly service. Prices are ok. Make sure you pile it on high. You only get 1 round or you pay $ 2.00 extra for a «all you can eat«but you can’t get a doggy bag … Must try if you’ve never experience it.

I absolutely love this place! Their incredible selection of craft beer is abolsutely phenomenal. They have 50 craft beers on tap, which are constantly changing, as well as 150 craft beer bottles. You can fill your growlers, male a create-your-own 6-pack, or simply go in for happy hour! Not to mention the food is to die for! The create your own stir fry allows you to stir it up your way and make a different style of entrée every time you make a bowl of food. The bar section also has an awesome burger and wings menu with some great cheesy fries! Basicalky, they have every food pairing you could imagine to accompany your craft beer selection. Just remember to tip your servers and bartenders accordingly for their wonderful service!

I enjoy this place, food is good, cooks are entertaining. Taproom next door with a huge beer selection brought right to your table. My daughter is not a big fan, there isn’t much to choose from if you aren’t a Mongolian BBQ person.

We tried this place for the first time today. I’ve been to Mongolian grills before but usually they’ve been in places like malls or airports. The servers here refill drinks, clear tables, and try to sell you dessert or appetizers. Our server was very friendly but provided truly subpar service. She didn’t explain the recipe cards and she went«missing» for ridiculously long periods of time and I got a neck ache from trying to look for her. The food bars and the area around the grill are so dirty. Food and sauces spilled or dripped everywhere or just sticky. I saw no one cleaning. When the kitchen door opens, you can see it’s as bad or worse there. I’ll have to check the last health department inspection report. Why can’t they put a few hand sanitizer stations like other nicer buffets? Some of the meat looked ok but the seafood, however, looked entirely questionable. I wonder whether they throw out what’s unused for the day or put out fresh food daily? Regrettably, I chose the salmon and as I stood in line and passed it over to be cooked, I noticed a white bump with a green center on a piece of my salmon. Mold? Cross contamination from the buffet? You decide. I didn’t eat it but I did have the veggies. This place grossed me out and we had poor service and our lunch was $ 42+tip. WTF. Still hungry(and angry), I left and went to Walmart and bought a wok and ingredients I know to be fresh for about the same money. I plan to offer my family a «do-over» for dinner tonight in my own kitchen. I had high hopes for BD, but sadly, I do not plan on going back to this establishment again.

This an update from 2010. I ate there today for my birthday, taking advantage of the BD’s birthday club free unlimited bowl, if you purchase a bowl. My son took me, and I enjoyed it. I’m staying off meat for a little while, and enjoy the fact that they have tofu. The choices of vegetables: onions, bell peppers, mini corn, sugar snap pea pods, mushrooms, tomatoes, canned pineapple(it’s definitely from a can), sliced water chestnuts, tofu is on the vegetable side. Also, bean sprouts, sauces, spices, and eggs they crack and fry. For the meat, it’s several choices, with Thai noodles and rice noodles. There’s also a salad bar. Truthfully, I’d rather here than Applebees, or other places based solely on meat. I got unlimited Mongolian barbecued vegetables,(2 bowls for me). We also got free rice, and was bought out one small bowl. Not enough for 2 people. I ordered watermelon lemonade, and got a free refill which rocked. For the beer drinkers they have a walk in beer closet with both kegs and several kinds of beer. Beer connoisseurs intrigue me, but I chose not to part take. The service was excellent, but they could have a few more vegetable selections. I shouldn’t complain, I really enjoyed eating there. I love the birthday club coupon, what a great find!

If I can give this place a fart noise and a thumbs down instead of one star, I would. I’m not a fan of this place or the crowd. I understand what a Mongolian BBQ is, BD’s just doesn’t execute it well. Unfortunately, people seem to be really into this place, so whatever. First of all, when I go out to eat it should go like this: I give you money. You give me professionally made food. End of transaction. It should not go: I pay you a painful amount of money. I stand in line for 30 minutes. I haphazardly throw together some ingredients. Stand in line another 10 minutes for food to be cooked. Regret my decision to come here. I came here for a friend’s birthday dinner. I will never be coming back. The service was okay, considering all they were doing was busing tables and getting drinks. It was super crowded and super loud. Most of the people there were pretty obnoxious. I get it, it’s a family place, but it’s not a place I want to be for dinner. Also, just because someone is Asian, does not mean they know how to throw together your dumb noodle dish. So don’t ask them. End of rant.

I’m not sure how new this is, or if it’s a new direction for this chain, but this BD’s is also a «Tap House.» So you can come in and get your normal mongolian barbeque fillings and also enjoy a cold and super delicious craft beer. Sweet, right? The tap room features a whole wall with up to date listings written in chalk so you know what’s available(there’s a small menu on your table too.) This location gets busy. You might have to wait for a table and there will be a line for the ingredients. The cooks(chefs?) do a good job at keeping everything moving so that you’re not too backed up. Lunch is moderately priced. Dinner could be a little less expensive, but it isn’t too bad. There’s a parking lot out front that will fill up when it’s busy, but you should still be able to find a spot during peak times.

I’ve been a huge fan of BDs for years! In my opinion it’s the best Mongolian restaurant out there. They have a huge selection of fresh meats, veggies, sauces, and spices available for bowls. Their soup/salad bar is always fresh and fantastic. And their big brownie is one of my favorite desserts anywhere! But what really sets this BDs location apart from the rest is their Taproom. With over 50 domestic craft beers on tap at any given time, an awesome patio, and one of the coolest bartenders I’ve ever met(Josh), BDs has now become my favorite bar in the area as well.

You know, I didn’t have that high of expectations for B D’s. I don’t eat a lot of meat — well, okay, I don’t eat any meat. Mongolian Barbeque doesn’t sound vegetarian friendly at all but it actually is. B D’s is the kind of place where you grab a bowl, fill it with what you want, add the sauce(s) you want take it to the counter, they add the meat if you’d like some and they grill it at the giant round community grill. I didn’t have any trouble filling my bowl with just the right veggies for me and noting that I’m a vegetarian, the guys cooking my food made sure I felt comfortable with my food being cooked away from the meat eaters(we herbivores are pretty sensitive about that). So, in all, they exceeded my expectations but the truth remains the same. The sauces and food products seemed diluted and mass-produced. Not flavorless but not inspired either. It’s worth trying again to make sure it can’t be improved but this wasn’t my first trip and I’ve felt the same each time.
