Went to dinner for our anniversary, late evening before the dinner rush on a Saturday, got seated right away. Everyone was very nice and attentive but not annoying. The food was amazing… the steaks(filets) are huge and cooked perfectly! The desserts are fabulous! They have a great wine list as well. Midway through the meal the dining room did start to fill and by the time we left it was full and a few people were waiting to be seated… so take that into account when you go… but that also shows what a great place it is. The owner also came out to greet all his guests personally which was also nice. Second time we’ve been here and we’ll definitely be back.

Great food and service. Can hold its own against the very best on the Hill in St. Louis. What a treasure in Jefferson County. Although this restaurant is in an old strip mall in an out of the way place and the décor inside would not win any awards, all that is forgotten once you are greeted by the owners, taken care of by a well-trained staff and you taste the wonderful food. You’ll need reservations on the weekend. Ask for Travis as your waiter if he is there. He was great.

We were a little apprehensive coming here as we had heard the service was slow. However, our experience could not have been more perfect! We ordered a bottle of wine(just in case service was slow) and found that our salads came out within 5 minutes. Our entrees arrived about 15 minutes later. The bread was delicious. I had the Cajun seafood pasta and it had generous amounts of shrimp and scallops, the cream sauce was perfect. Our server, Travis, was on top of his game and we did not experience an empty water glass all night. This is a JeffCo gem! Also, the owner greeting patrons was very charming. Loved it, we’ll be back!

We stopped at Giuseppe’s in Jefferson County Mo. and I ordered a pasta dish and you chose either chicken of shrimp to go into the dish, I asked for chicken. They brought out our meals and my order had shrimp in it. The waitress apologized and said she wrote down chicken I said it wasn’t a big deal and requested the pasta to be sent back and fixed. When she brought it back I took a bite and immediately tasted shrimp. The waitress came over and asked how it was and I told her not good and explained to her that they must have took out the shrimp and that the chicken was so rubbery that it must have partially microwaved it. She apologized and asked if I wanted something else I responded no thank you. When she brought our bill she said she took off the pasta which cost around $ 15.00 but when I looked at the bill I noticed an $ 8.00 charge. I took the bill up to the counter where the owner and waitress was and asked what the charge was they responded the other part to the meal which was a dinner salad. I told them I couldn’t believe they were going to charge me $ 8.00 after they screwed up my meal and brought out something they tried to pass off as a correct pasta that I ordered. The owner didn’t try and apologize for if just asked me for my credit card and refunded me the entire $ 15.00. I will never go there again nor will I recommend them either. I will say it wasn’t the waitresses fault and I did leave her a tip.

The food here is very good. It’s a great place for a steak, and my personal favorite items are the shrimp scampi and the chicken carroattrezzi. It can be crowded any night, so reservations are a good idea. The service is hit and miss, but has been pretty good the last few visits. The owner always comes out to ask how you enjoyed the food. He cooks everything from scratch.

The food is great! Everything tasted great, hot and smelled wonderful. Not much of a wait during the week. The waiter took his time explaining the dishes and portion size-LARGE. Very affordable, we had an appetizer and 2 entrees under $ 40. Why drive to the hill when this food is delicious? The décor and strip mall need updating, looks like the 80s.

I’ve been coming here for several years now and have never had a bad meal. Their Alfredo sauce is amazing, and I usually have a hard time with white sauces. Love their salad too. Need a reservation at dinner time, but you can usually walk in for a weekend lunch. Highly recommend!

Had a very nice dinner for my anniversary. Loved the flavor of the white sauce. Great soup. Great Caesar salad. My chicken dish had too thick a cheese on it but otherwise flavor was very good. Lots of dinner and pasta choices. I will be returning and trying more dishes.

Despite its rather poor exterior appearance and old, run down interior décor, we had an overall good experience at Trattoria Giuseppe. We made reservations for a large group of ladies on a Saturday night while the boys were away deer hunting. The wait upon arriving was minimal as they had our large table ready for us within 10 minutes of the reservation time. The food was of homemade authentic Italian quality and the prices were pretty cheap as I expected based on the surrounding area. I recommend the cannelloni. The wine and other drink prices were also pretty cheap and not bad for what you’re paying for. The only complaint I had was the service. Although it was friendly and fairly timely for having such a large group, it was awkward and unorganized. The server had us all give her our name so we could each have an individual tab which was very nice. However, when the server took our order instead of going around the table she stood at the head of the table and shouted out our name and we had to answer with what we wanted. I felt like I was in class during roll call and it was very uncomfortable. Also, no refills were offered without trying to track her down as she walked by. Overall the meal and portions were great and you can tell the owner/chef works his butt off as he was sure to come by each table and ask how our meal was while also cooking in back and running food. Not a bad choice if you live in the area, but I would not recommend making a special trip.

I simply love Italian food, and I’ve had a few people tell me over the years that I must try this«authentic» Italian place. I’m now wishing I would’ve waited longer. I don’t like giving bad reviews, but there was honestly nothing positive about my experience here. It started off bad and progressively got worse. Here’s the scoop… I was warned that the restaurant looks crappy from the outside, and that is an understatement. It is located in a rundown strip mall in the middle of nowhere. My husband and I pulled up and thought it had to be better on the inside. Wrong. The interior is tacky and dirty. It looked like the owners made a trip to Garden Ridge and bought every Italian decoration they saw: The Godfather movie posters, those big hat chef plaques, a large Italian flag, and a laminated pizza hung with push pins. Combine this with stained carpet, green vinyl tablecloths, red banquet chairs, red and green fluorescent lighting, and my grandmother’s formal dining room curtains from 1983, and you’ve got one hot mess. We were told to make reservations, though I don’t think they were necessary. We still waited 15 minutes. Once we were escorted to our table, it was still wet, so we had to wait while they dried the table and chairs off. The server greeted us quickly and took our drink order. She came back with our drinks and bread, which was unfortunately stale. Both of our entrees came with salads and both salads arrived to the table wrong. My husband received a plate of lettuce and cheese only, so he asked her to bring some dressing on the side. I had asked them to leave off the onion and pepperoncini, and it arrived to the table with both. Our salads were just«ehh» and neither of us finished. About 10 minutes after our salad plates were cleared, our server informed us that the kitchen was running behind and our entrees would still be another 20 – 25 minutes. At this point, we discussed paying for our drinks and salads and getting out of this nightmare, but ultimately decided to stay. My husband started his trusty cell phone timer, and at this point, all we could do was laugh. The owner was sitting at an empty table next to us texting away on her phone. She got up to refill our drinks and when I mentioned that we had been there an hour and 15 minutes and still had not received our entrees, she said«The kitchen is working as hard as they can!» and then turned away. No apology, no sympathy, nothing. About 40 minutes from the time our waitress informed us of the kitchen issues, we finally received our entrees. I ordered a vodka penne dish. The sauce was a little runny, but other than that, it was okay. My husband ordered the chicken parmesan with a side of red sauce pasta. There is a $ 2 upcharge for the white sauce, which I thought was strange. He took a few bites and pushed it to the side. The dish was bland and the chicken was rubbery. Immediately, we had two servers and the owner at our table offering him a different dish, appetizer, dessert… all of which he turned down. We had not been impressed with anything up to that point so why throw something else into the mix? He asked that they please just take his entrée off the bill, which they did. Eating alone for the remainder of my meal was not good, so I only finished a small portion. When walking out, nearly two hours after we first arrived, the entire staff completely avoided any eye contact with us and not one of them said a word as we walked by. They knew it was bad as well. We then stopped elsewhere so my husband could eat. Needless to say, we will never be returning here.

Trattoria giuseppe is my favorite restaurant. The food is excellent and portion size is huge for what you pay. I don’t understand how this restaurant could have a bad review. The owner is so friendly. I’ve never went to a restaurant where the owner comes out every time to welcome you and ask if everything is good. I definitely recommend Giuseppe’s, you won’t be disappointed.

the food was priced right – but if you wanna have a drink you might wanna ask the price before ordering mixed drinks are outrageous – we go to chesterfield and don’t pay that much. — i guess they think they are in ladue or clayton. it won’t happen again so beware – unless you got money to throw away.

Told no more than 45 minutes wait. Waited 1 hour and fifteen minutes. Rude staff, poor, poor, poor food quality. Olive oil on table for bread was stale. Bread had a «funky» taste(nothing like the bread I’ve had at any number of other St. Louis Italian restaurants). Salad was«ok», but I’ve never had an Italian salad with that much oil on it. Mussels in tutta mare did not open and they served anyway. The only thing good was the chicken wings and that was probably because they were lip-numbing hot. Our server did as best as she could but we will never come back. I’ve never posted an on-line restaurant review before and eat out at least once a week. So, you can imagine how bad it was if I was compelled to spend time writing this.

I think this is by far the best Italian restaurant this side of the Hill. The service is always great. The food is very good, and the house dressing should be bottled. Not sure what happened with the other reviews, but we have never experienced a bad meal there. I would give it 5 stars if they served the bread with a little dish of olive oil, salt, pepper, and a sprinkling of Parma cheese.

My family(party of 9) dined at Giuseppe’s on Old Highway 21 and it was a less than stellar experience. When I first drove up, I was surprised by the run down exterior because I had heard it was a fine dining restaurant. Walking into the front room wasn’t much better. It was cluttered and sloppy looking. The waitress station and service window are totally exposed to the bar and dining area. I probably wouldn’t have bothered writing a review about this place at all, but I was there for a family reunion and after spending hundreds of dollars in an empty restaurant with stale bread and just ok food, a rude waitress started pushing through us to empty the table and told us that we needed to get up because she needed to set the table for a reservation that night. Again, the restaurant was completely empty, as were all of the tables. To make matters worse, she was snarky about it and she changed the tone of our happy family reunion. In terms of food, I had the Chicken Trattoria, which was just okay. I ordered it grilled to avoid breading and I realize that was a mistake. It tasted like grilled chicken with sauce on top, not like a cohesive dish where the meat carried flavor. My cousin ordered the Chicken Marsala and it was better. The only thing I really enjoyed about Giuseppe’s was the homemade cannoli. It was really good, but it was not enough to get me to return any time soon.
