Great getaway for couples looking for a romantic evening with a fireplace in one of our Theme Rooms, Studio cabins, or Suites (which also have jacuzzi tubs); or for families looking to have all the comforts of home in one of our rustic cabins with fireplaces, kitchens, decks, and more.

With over 5 acres and a playground, there is plenty of room for the kids to run around or we also welcome dogs in most of our cabins. We are located right in the heart of Idyllwild and yet it still feels like your out in the woods. Walk to several restaurants, great shops and art galleries, or just hang out on your deck and feed the squirrels. We have something for everyone.

History

Established in 1904.

The Idyllwild Inn is the longest running business in Idyllwild and has been a family owned and operated establishment for most of its history. It is currently being owned and operated by 4th generation owners from the most recent family, Josh & Emily White.

Having grown up in Idyllwild, Josh is the perfect concierge. For questions ranging from where to eat, shop, hike, or just relax; he probably has a recommendation.

Josh & Emily are always working hard to maintain the historic feel of the Inn while making it a comfortable and unforgettable experience for the guests. While visiting you may see their 3 children running around the office or property as well as their family dog «Millie.» They love interacting with the guests and are always looking for feedback on how to make their guests stays even better.

First time staying here. It was very cute and close to everything. I friends and I had a great time. My bbf and I were in cabin 15 and 16. I have an eight month old so I called ahead of time to ask if the little fridge could fit the babies baby food in it. The front desk lady tells me I don’t know. Then I ask her well can it fit a loaf of bread… She says no. Then I think what kind of place am I’m stay at. She was not helpful at all. We get there. It’s your stander mini ridge! It could fit everything I needed it to. My baby was crawling on the floor and I noticed his clothes turning brownish! floors are filthy!!! I also got a bruise on my back from one of the springs in the bed.

Price is good but the cable tv went in and out so much could not even watch it. Both my husband and I found the beds too hard and the pillows must be ancient because they are flat and hard. I called the office and asked if they had better pillows and the girl/​woman who answered said all the pillows were flat and hard. Also when I had made the reservations I have asked for the champagne and chocolates but they were not in the room. I called the front office and the girl asked twice are you sure there not their, like I was lying. I wish I could give it more stars but at this time it’s 2 stars. Also all you get is the smallest bottle of shampoo enough for 1 person and no lotion. There also is not a blow dryer in your room. Manager ended up giving the Champaign and chocolates for free.

We stayed there in September and thoroughly enjoyed our stay. Our cabin was overall comfortable, rustic, and conveniently located. There was a beautiful view of the mountains from our porch and our kids enjoyed the on site playground. I found the staff in the office to be friendly and accommodating. We loved being able to walk to the town center in just a few minutes. The only negatives were the rather uncomfortable pull-​out sofa bed and the lack of counter space in the bathroom. That being said, these issues would not prevent me from booking another weekend there, especially for just 2 people. We will be back!

I decided to surprise my boyfriend with a trip to Idyllwild in November. I picked Idyllwild inn based on reviews and everyone on here said don’t use cabin 9 because of how it looked inside (smoke smell, graffiti etc). To my luck cabin 9 is all they had left so I booked it, my boyfriend loved it! I was a tad thrown off from the graffiti all over the cabin. But my boyfriend loved it he said it gives you a rustic feel, besides that the cabin was adorable! You get one bundle of free wood, highly recommend bringing your own blankets/​pillows.
Everything worked fine in the cabin the only issue was I wished I brought my own bath towels they supply you with very little and tiny bath towels. I highly recommend to also research on your own the restaurants you want to eat at, the receptionist who was not very kind, and seemed very grumpy and not welcoming when we checked in which I read on Unilocal before realizing this was the lady everyone on Unilocal must be talking about recommended a seafood/​steak restaurant across the cabin where we stayed. Food was not that great, very expensive we spent 200 and honestly it was not worth it! Later we spoke to locals at other restaurants and thank god for their advice we ate at the restaurants they recommend:) we loved were it is located right smack in the middle of the town! You can walk and not drive! Ps there is a organic coffee house next door. AMAZING coffee!!! Try there mocha latte! We will definitely stay here again, but most likely try a different cabin lol

We have been staying here since 1989 for our honeymoon. We have stayed here ever since. The owners are wonderful and so accommodating. Christmas time is wonderful. When you get a knock on your door Christmas eve with a little care package from them, it makes you know that they care about their guests. You feel like family.
Reservations are a snap, friendly and its nice to know when they recognize you on the phone. You are not just a number to them. Cabins are clean, nicely furnished and comfortable. You won’t be disappointed with your stay here. You will feel very welcome and at home here. Love, love, love Idyllwild Inn.

This place is our home in the mountains.
Josh and his wife are such wonderful inn keepers. We visit at least twice a year and are never disappointed– it’s always so well kept and they are constantly upgrading their property. We prefer to stay mid-​week when Idyllwild is a bit quieter but anytime we can get away the Idyllwild Inn is our absolute favorite place to stay.

I LOVE Idyllwild Inn!!! My family has been loyal customers longer than I have been alive and my husband and I are committed to continuing loyalty to this particular establishment. The cabins are clean and cozy and make you feel right at home. I LOVE that they include free firewood for you to use during your stay. The cabins are centrally located and it’s a lovely walk into town. The overall quality of the cabins and the service of the staff are worth the money. Josh and Emily the owners are lovely people that take good care of their guests and ensure that the product they offer is of the highest quality. This is like a second home for my husband and I and we look forward to coming at New Year’s every year!

Don’t rent cabin 9. Gross! It smells like someone smoked one thousand cartons of cigarettes in it plus it’s graffiti heaven in there. Reminds me of downtown Los Angeles and I was charged an extra 9 dollars AFTER I left and I don’t know why. We did not use the dishes and we did not leave a mess other then an unmade bed. Look at the pictures I posted of the inside of the cabin.

This is actually an inn plus cabins. It’s advertised as «convenient, yet secluded» which is what I love about. The inn is close to the road. Shops and restaurants are walking distance. The cabins are back from the road and really do feel secluded. There is a small playground for children and plenty of space to exercise a dog (dogs are permitted in all cabins). Prices are reasonable too and office staff are extremely helpful.

I liked this place. Not enough to where when we return to idylwild we wouldn’t try a different place. Well look around. But, here’s what is great
Clean rooms
Comfortable bed, clean sheets etc. Very comfy pillows
Nice décor, we stayed in the French country and it was pleasent.
The studio is small so if it’s more than 2 people or not a romantic getaway I suggest a different room.
The bathroom is very small and not much counter space
But the shower is nice, plenty of towels and toilet paper.
Comes with a decent sized refrigerator, a coffee pot, coffee, cups and sugar and a microwave.
A small table with 2 chairs as well for a small meal or Coffee.
the fireplace is really beautiful and was great to come home and sit in front of the fire.
The t. v kinda sucks but honestly why are you watching t. v in nature?
The most off putting thing to me was the front desk, the service was almost rude. I was really surprised it wasn’t nicer than that as a family business. They weren’t to welcoming at check in and check out was the same cold feeling.
The location is perfect as its right next to a coffee shop and walking distance to many restaurants, shops and the center of town.
I’d most likely come back here and def recommend it. for me though the service makes me want to try out another place just to see if we can have a better experience.

These folks are top notch! They were extremely nice and helpful and the cabin was cute as could be. We brought our dog here and it was perfect. They even have dog blankets so that your pooch doesn’t muddy up the furniture. We all snuggled in front of the fire at night, it was a wonderful getaway. I love how central the Inn is… you can walk to pretty much every shop/​restaurant in town. We only used our car once to get up to the hiking trail and pretty much parked it and walked the remainder of the trip.

The cabin was nice, warm, clean and cozy. Me and my other two friends spent the night at idyllwild inn. We chit-​chat, fireplace is on, it was a great experience specially coz it was snowing. But the only thing is, we went to bed like at 11ish and i heard heavy footsteps coming from the kitchen or living room or
seems like someone was walking around and around and it lasted for like a minute or two. anyways, i ignored it, the next day, my friend had asked us if we heard heavy footsteps last night, and so i told her i did and so did my other friend. It was sunday so there’s not much people around us nor neighbor. We don’t know what it was, but it was creepy.

Great deal for a themed room. Found it to be quite nice and within a few steps from downtown. You can’t go wrong! I did notice the mini fridge generated a slight hum which annoyed a hell out of me so I just unplugged it. The firestarter that’s included with the fireplace does not work well so you’re better off buying your own from the local store.

Cozy and romantic. Get ready to snuggle up (even in the summer) because this is the perfect place to do that. I have stayed here twice: I first stayed in the winter themed room, and then in cabin 10.
The winter themed room is adorable! The fact that there are themed rooms makes the booking process more fun and exciting; or maybe I’m just a dork and really enjoy those kinds of things .
It gets a little too hot in the summer in the cabin, but other than this it is wonderful. There is a cute little patio, a kitchen area, a living room area, and a twin sized bed in addition to the queen bed! Plenty of room here. The price is really reasonable as well. What’s more is that the square containing the market and pharmacy is right across the street, and there are a bunch of restaurants nearby too.
I definitely recommend staying here.

What a nice place to spend the night while in Idyllwild. They have cabins and themed rooms available. I stayed in the summer cabin. I did not like the suspended old wooden scooter, I found it quite creepy at night. The freezer was also turned up too high and froze all our food and we couldn’t find the the thermostat for it. But the rooms were clean and nicely decorated and I slept well. I really liked the location. It is right across the parking lot from Higher Grounds coffee and across the street from the best restaurant in town. I would love to return here in the summer with my dog and stay in one of their cabins and hike all the local trails. Very friendly staff and a good price at $ 89.00 for one queen bed. I also bought a wonderfully warm jacket with their logo, that I couldn’t be happier with. I would definitely stay here in the future.

One of my travel buddies and I stayed here using a special fall promo that we had seen on the Inn’s website (stay two nights, get the third night free) during the last weekend in October 2013. I had come up here for an overnight trip for work in August and had originally wanted to stay here bec I had read online somewhere that there were gray squirrels that ran around on the property!
But, my best friend was looking at the area online, thinking she would have liked to have come up to Idyllwild too, and stumbled upon a different B&B. I wanted to put her time and energy to good use so I went with the place she had seen which cost a little less and turned out to a bit closer to where I needed to be for work anyway.
So, when I was planning the mini weekend getaway (leisure, not work-​related) in October, I was definitely staying at the Idyllwild Inn – which we did and we really enjoyed our stay! It’s actually in the Village so it was within walking distance to all of the shops and restaurants.
Initially, when I was booking the room online, I didn’t see that the discount was being applied so I called and spoke with Josh who was really, really nice. He said that I just needed to book it and then the discount would be taken off from their end.
We stayed in Cabin 11. This was perfect for two people because it is a one bedroom cabin with a trundle bed in the main room just outside of the bedroom. The only downside is you have to go through the bedroom to get to the bathroom so hopefully your buddy is a deep sleeper in the middle of the night, LOL
This particular cabin had a deck with picnic table with benches so I was able to put a bowl of nuts out each morning for the birds (and the little thieving Stellar Jays, LOL) We could also see them raiding the bowl from inside the cabin because the large window faced the deck (see pictures).
The cabin was clean and rustic, and we liked that the kitchen was well-​stocked with bowls, plates, and silverware. There was a full-​size refrigerator and coffee maker. It was a very cozy little cabin and I would definitely stay here again!

I stayed here for the first time and it was an amazing experience!
Check in was easy, friendly staff, service was outstanding, and room was impressive.
We booked the Camp room and we loved the location. We went Thanksgiving weekend which they do the tree lighting ceremony and it gets super crowded there so it was nice to hear the music and event from our room, to be able to be steps away from restaurants, and its in the heart of everything! I am surprised that the rates are so low considering the location and how clean it is.
The fireplace was great. They provided complimentary block of woods and easy fire starter gel package with it, nice heated room if you dont use fireplace, and they have cleaning service every morning if you want them to make the beds and clean which is very nice.
The restrooms there are very clean, you have nice and hot water there with no issues of it getting hot and cold, and lots of room for parking for guests.
I would definitely book here again and I would highly recommend booking months in advance as this place is a gem and is outstanding!
Checking out was easy as well. Office wasn’t open yet since we wanted to beat traffic so we dropped keys off at front office box with no issues.
Highly recommend this place and best place we’ve stayed thus far and we’ve been going for the last several years every Thanksgiving weekend.
