King Kong Restaurant

One major pro to this place; one of the employees of King Kong at least took my order over the phone in a polite and efficient manner. The food was ready within a reasonable timeframe when my husband and I went to pick up our orders and the food was pretty cheap. Con; The shrimp fried rice that I ordered was not to my liking, compared to some of the other versions of shrimp fried rice that I ordered from other Chinese food places. Additionally, there was only a scant amount of shrimp and fried egg in my order compared to what I have received from other places (the rice and ingredients in the order were ok but not what I would order again from this place). My husband ordered some meat that he expected to receive some type of sauce with (there appeared to be no sauce). We had also ordered some crab rangoons and were surprised that those also did not come with any sauce. The food came with some soy sauce, which was just ok. My husband politely shrugged it off which influenced me to also just be calm about it. I consider myself pretty fair minded and reasonable when rating restaurants and fast food places. Therefore it is not easy for me to rate the food as barely edible when both my husband and I at least got respectable customer service.

I have eaten at King Kong simply because my husband has eaten it his entire life. Honestly horrible American Chinese food. Their food is mediocre at best and has declined since the installation of their large bar. One of my biggest complaints is that their dumplings are not homemade and seem to be from a frozen dumplings. If you want to get legit Chinese food I would shop around and not bother eating at this place.

Pretty good food. I ordered the General Tso’s shrimp and some French fries. The delivery was quick which is great. I wish the breading for general Tso’s was a little bit crispier in the sauce. But overall it was pretty tasty.
(The white rice needs a little work though)
The staff on the phone spoke good English compared to other Chinese restaurants so it was easy to order.
I think I’ll order there again.

Their General Tso Chicken (White Meat) is good but their rice needs a little help. Don’t get your hopes up if you’re expecting some really good Chinese rice– because their rice did not make the cut. It tastes old and uncooked– because parts of it were rock solid. Would I go there again? Maybe

Service was fast and courteous. I ordered general tso’s, my friend ordered orange chicken, it was pretty tasty. Would definitely order again.

In my opinion, King Kong is the best Chinese food in the Takoma Park/​Hyattsville area. Over the last few years, I’ve tried their orange chicken, General Tso’s chicken, singapore noodles, lo mein noodles, vegetable fried rice, and egg rolls. All of it has been tasty. Their delivery is fast as well.

Was looking for a new Chinese restaurant in the area. Read the reviews and decided to give it a try. Impressed with the quality and pricing. I will def be ordering here again.

It’s no nice to have a place I can get some vegetarian delicious general Tso! I love the sauce they use! Reasonably priced AND they sell alcohol! Sweet

Great place to play pool, eat great Chinese food and listen to a awesome live music.
