Very good! I had the curry goat delicious! The customer service is great! The lunch special is from 11 to 3 and it saves you LOADS! The guava juice is good as well… I think i have a new spot.

Lack of customer service. The gentle man working at the front did not acknowledge my husband and I even thou we were standing there for 3 minutes. My husband even gave him eye contact but he glanced over and keep doing what he is doing. We just walked out and will not be returning.

What a disappointment. Based on the reviews, I was expecting to get some good authentic Jamaican food. I ordered the curry chicken and it’s tasteless. There’s no kick to it at all. I’ve made better curry chicken at home. Damn! The search continues.

Not the best Jamaican food. Standard for the MD&DC area, nothing special. I’ve tried the curried goat a few times, and it’s hit or miss. The quality of the food had been going down. The meat is bland, the rice is bland — it’s like there is absolutely no seasoning at all. The plantains are good.

Meh, i’m not 100% sure of the food(maybe b/c i’ve been spoiled by the amazing Jamaican food in Baltimore), but its not so bad. I didn’t like the beef patties at all.

Just OK. Not bad, but nothing special either. My beef patty tasted like the frozen one out of Sam’s. Cabbage not seasoned, Jeri chicken not seasoned enough. Again, just OK.

I had the same beef patty experience! Cold and not worth the price! I know good Jamaican food when I get it and this was not it! I live not too far from them and they are truly not worth any repeat visits! Tired of over priced restaurants with poor service and horrible food!

Hands down the best«authentic» Jamaican restaurant in town! I moved to this area from Brooklyn New York in the late 90’s and I have searched for Jamaican food that is close to or the same as the food I had when in NYC with no success. This place destroys all of the competition. Let me tell you the best dishes in my opinion. Oh and by the way very affordable. Red stew peas with pig tails and white rice — my best dish there, they only do it from Fri-Sun I was told. This dish taste the way my aunt used to make it. They must have Jamaican/Panamanian roots. Curry Goat with rice and peas — delicious Jerk Chicken — this is my partners favorite, very tasty and spicy just like the ones in NY in the big smokers. The customer service is average which is what you get usually at Jamaican establishments. It just is the culture to have B face in my opinion but I got to know the two ladies behind the counter and there quite pleasant to me now. The only reason I would give this place one less star is the beef patties. I typically try the restaurants beef patties and that is an indication if they really put their elbows into their food. The beef patties at this place are the typical frozen unfrozen patties. I only found one place in Maryland that«use to» make homemade beef patties which they brought in from a lady in Columbia Maryland daily. That place was Montego Bay on Rogers Ave in Baltimore. Unfortunately, they started using frozen patties a couple years back so I would not run there to try them. If you’re in Maryland make sure you try this place, and let me know if you loved the food as much as I did.

Went one day for lunch and had the jerk chicken lunch special annnnnd lets just say I was highly disappointed. The chicken pieces were not meaty and the the sauce on the chicken was not flavorful. I ate half of my meal and trashed the other half and that is rare for me. I have been there for breakfast and got the ackee and saltfish with boiled bananas and dumplings. This dish was flavorful but the portions were skimp.

I was enticed by the great reviews I saw on here, but I regret to say this was a disappointment. I ordered a small jerk and it was $ 9, beef patty $ 2.30. not including tax/tip. The jerk sauce was squirted out of a red old school ketchup container, but the rice and beans were good. The beef patty was ok but not worth the price. We aso bought a purple homemade drink which we were told was popular $ 4.25, all it was was ginger favoring a sweet syrup. you can buy all the ingredients for half the price and make it taste the same or better, 2 stars max.

2.5 stars really. Not gonna be rude and retract my previous 4-star review, but after visiting here a few times after my initial review AND trying out other area Caribbean spots like Just Jerk and Weakness for Sweetness, Jamaican Country Kitchen pales in comparison. No need to be long-winded, but they are seriously lacking in flavor compared to the other two places I’ve mentioned. I will give them points for the amount of food they give you… it’s a enough to last you two days. However, after going by to pick up a beef patty yesterday that tasted like it came out of the freezer with .005 ounces of meat — I could no longer hold my tongue. AVERAGE.

I decided to try this place bc my favorite spot, Just Jerk, was closed for renovation. Upon walking in, I considered walking out. The floors were dirty. Something about an unswept floor made me think twice about ordering. Anywho, it was 2:50 p so I decided to try the jerk chx lunch special and fruit punch. There is nothing fruity about this fruit punch. It simply tastes like ice cold sugary syrup & water. That’s it. If you want good, real Caribbean fruit punch, try Negril Eatery. The«special» included what looked like ½ thigh, ½ drumstick cut up. There was barely any meat. Man, I wish I would have taken pics. I can’t really tell you how it tastes because I didn’t receive an adequate portion of chicken to say. :(. Major disappointment. The rice & peas were ok… Dry, but ok. Veggies… Cabbage, broccoli mix were crisp and AWESOME! This was the best part of my «meal». It came with 3 of the tiniest, skinniest plantain I have ever seen. Again, not even an adequate bite or mouthful to savor the full flavor of sweet, ripe plantain. Oh and I sat Dow to eat and the counter lady comes over and sweeps up while I am eating. That’s right, rustling up trash and dust around my food. Disgusting. Needless to say, I will NOT be returning.

Actual visit 3÷19÷13. Another hidden gem tucked away in a nondescript small strip shopping area. I had the Jerk chicken was good but a little too much spice for me… yes I know it’s jerk and it should be spicy. I absolutely LOVED the brown stewed chicken. If I’m ever back in the area I will be going back for the BS chicken and the coconut cake. Hmm Hmmm GOOD !!

Preface: My fiancé is Jamaican, and I’ve spent countless years hanging out in his family’s kitchens. So I’d like to say I’m an authority on good, AUTHENTIC Jamaican cuisine. That’s all to say that this place is the real deal Holyfield. The Jerk seasonings will burn your lips off if you aren’t careful, but is flavorful enough to stand on its own merits without it. I don’t know if they’ve got a grill back there or what, but it’s got that good Char-broiled taste that you can ONLY get from real Jerk Chicken. They’ve also got a bunch of traditional fare, Ackee and Saltfish, four different kinds of porridge… Cow Foot(?!). They’ve got it. Future Hubby had Jerk Pork, which was just as good(though I preferred the Chicken). Rice and Beans were decent and the mixed veggies were AMAZING. Also had a glass of homemade Sorrel, it was the BUSINESS. Hands down best Jamaican Food in the area that isn’t coming from Mom’s kitchen. Was only going to give them 4 stars because there’s always room for improvement, but when I noticed that they had EASTERBUN complete with the canned cheese, I realized that truly, this place is legit and worth 5 stars. Expensive, but worth the price. Go, you won’t be disappointed.

OMG!!! Jerk Chicken chicken in my tummy, yummy yummy! Brown Stew chicken in my tummy, yummy, yummy! — - Shout out to my man Peele, because that is my jam! It’s a new place in what most would call Landover Hills near the oldest Giant imaginable. The food is excellent, although the cocoa bread needs some help.
