While walking around in Hyannis, MA, we decided to have brunch at Egg & I. It was nice to be seated on the patio but the service was very slow and the food didn’t have much flavor. My family and I ordered a Ham and Egg Sandwich, Omelette with Ham, Pancake, and Belgian Waffles. The Ham and Egg Sandwich consisted of ham and sunny side up egg in between two white toast. The Omelette with Ham consisted of multiple scrambled eggs with chopped ham and served with unappetizing ranch potatoes. The Pancake consisted of a large whole wheat pancake. My brother wanted some protein with it so he ordered Canadian Bacon. The Belgian Waffles consisted of a thick, crispy, golden and sweet Belgian Waffle and served with flavorless whipped cream. I guess I was expecting a sweet cream.

We were very hungry and had just started on our way back to boston from cape cod. We had seen this place the night before and we had it in our mind that we might have some brunch here. Overall clean and nice ambience and food was freshly cooked too.

It’s so disappointing when a place you remember fondly goes downhill. I hadn’t been here in probably 10 years, and have been wanting to come back for some time, we usually just end up somewhere else for breakfast. Well we finally made it back, and never again. The food was thoroughly mediocre and the service was terrible. The egg whites actually tasted straight up rotten. Icon or not, I can’t imagine them remaining in business if this is what they have to offer.

The food was good but the service was subpar. There was four of us and we were seated outside near a septic area. We asked to move. The meal took awhile to get to us and paying was long too. We only ordered egg and bacon. Coffee was okay– nothing to rave about. Prices were a little pricey for a hole in the wall place. There were two homeless people roaming the eatery.

Bad service. I asked to check on our order after 25 minutes. Couple next to us waited 20 minutes to get the check. Disorganized.

READTHEREVIEWSFIRST; STAYAWAY. Coffee tastes like mud– bitter and burnt. Breakfast took an hour and a half. Table had bird poop on it when we sat down and had to ask them twice to clean it. The place only has one toaster so don’t expect your toast with your food, it will come after. The blueberry pancakes had what we thought was a hair in them, waitress came over and explained that the hair was actually from a scrubbing brush they use to clean the griddle. Uhmm… even more gross. At least she comped the pancakes and gave us a free fruit cup. Still terrible.

The reviews posted are spot on, the coffee had a tinny taste to it and the food was On the bland side. Poached egg was over cooked.

Do not waste your time or money at this place! We ignored the bad reviews and regret it! My husband and I are eggs benedict addicts and this could have been the worst attempt we have ever seen. The poached eggs were obviously not drained and our english muffins were sitting in a pool of water. We had one bite and told the server we did not want them anymore. She asked if we wanted something else which we declined since we were in a hurry to get to the beach. When she brought the check over she said, «my manager said if you didn’t want it to be soggy, we should have ordered the eggs on the side and that we still had to pay». WHAT?! Coming from the hospitality industry I just couldn’t believe my ears! We ended up speaking with both the manager and the owner who still claimed that«we do not know what eggs Benedict are because they are always like that» and told us «fine, we will take one order off». We simply walked out. It kills me that all the tourist get trapped into eating here due to their outdoor seating. Run, run fast! This place is a sad excuse of a business.

The service wasunbelievably horrible. The orange juice is four dollars a glass. I ordered Challah French toast and got Wonder Bread. Our food literally took over an hour to get. I had to get up and get my own silverware after asking three times. Never received one order of sausage. Avoid!!!

If you see empty tables it’s for a reason. We stopped in because we were on a time crunch and the service was so slow and the place was empty. This is the only breakfast place I’ve ever been to where I didn’t get asked if I wanted more coffee, I would have gotten more myself if it was even good. The eggs Benedict were sour and the Canadian bacon was chewy. Ordered a large chocolate milk and got an orange juice first and then a small chocolate milk. Disappointed that an establishment with so many tables could be so bad.

Shit show of a restaurant. Horrible service. Food is worse than anything I can make at home. I’m not even a good cook.

It’s not normal protocol for me to walk out of a restaurant, but the lack luster menu and subpar service caused just this. I threw it a two because there was patrons there whom seem to be enjoying the outside seating on the beautiful morning.

Not quite the gruesome experience I was led to believe. I went here with a friend on a tuesday in november and we were the only ones there, so maybe that’s why it wasn’t so bad. We still had to wait a while for our food, but it came to us piping hot and it was obv the eggs are poached old school, so I blame that. Interior is mega cute. It was boiling hot inside, and the waitress turned down the heat for us. Coffee refills were numerous. I will say I found the prices a bit outrageous. The eggs benedict and hashbrowns were both delicious, but sheesh. Two people, two coffees, two benedicts came to $ 25. And I got one of the cheap ones without meat! Overall, I like the Egg & I in Estes Park, CO much more; but I don’t think this one deserves the rep it has.

This place has a great location and the staff is super-friendly. The menu is basic, which would be fine if the quality of the ingredients was high and the preparation decent. Sadly, it is really bad, nearly inedible diner food. Vegetarians beware — the breakfast potatoes taste like bacon fat.

Giving One star is even too much for this place. My husband is a big fan of egg benedict and of course he had to order Portuguese egg benedict. We should have trusted Unilocal review and gone to somewhere else… It was awful and eggs were way over cooked. If chef Gordon Ramsay saw this plate, it would’ve been thrown directly to trash can. No runny egg yolk in egg benedict. I ordered two eggs with Canadian bacon. I was not able to slice my bacon with a knife. it was too tough and dry. i had to use my hand to cut them. How can you mess up with such an easy and nothing fancy traditional breakfast… Also my husband wanted to get a freshly baked muffin and asked waitress if they bake muffin here. She said they get it from BJ’s! DONOTWASTEYOUR $$ ONTHISPLACE.
