I have been using Neil’s for boat repairs for about a year now. Started with the big trolling motor on the bow and then the outboard. Last week, the jack plate quit and it was a dead actuator, a $ 500 part. Neil thought it would take 2 hours to replace.
Neil started yesterday afternoon and called me around 9 pm to say that he had fought it for 3 hours and it just wasn’t coming apart. My next option was to buy a totally new jack plate, a $ 1000 part! Neil knew that we had a 3 day fishing trip in Port Mansfield starting Sunday morning and I had resigned myself to having to fish the deep channels and jetties and skip the flats even though our boat will run in less than a foot of water when it has a working jack plate.
When I got there this morning to pick it up at 10 AM, he was hard at work and told me that he had stayed up until 3 AM to fix it and finally had to cut the old one out with a torch! I defy you to find anyone else that would have stayed with it like that! His original labor estimate was 2.5 hours and he only charged me 3 hours! He is a great mechanic, fuel or electric but more importantly he is a man of his word.
