Covert Hutto

Yep, old-​fashioned bait and switch, surly and uninterested sales approach. Pushed VERY hard right away to buy a new Colorado right off the truck before he even sat down to have a discussion about my needs. Lost interest as soon as he realized I wouldn’t buy that truck, or one without a true NAV system. Did not even attempt to sit down and discuss my situation, or attempt to work something out. Just sat down at desk and pushed the ‘invoice’ book over to me to look at. And the invoice sheets are deliberately screwy to read and interpret. This was the final straw (same experience at Hewlett Chevy in Georgetown) that drove me back to CarMax. Hey guys-there’s a REASON CarMax is successful and it’s experiences and stories like this. Left feeling like I needed to take a long hot shower.

I can’t speak of their service if you DO buy a vehicle from them, but I CAN provide you with an earful if you choose NOT to buy one from them. During my search for a vehicle, I made the mistake of entering my phone number into an online search when I found the exact truck I was looking for on their lot, and requested a sales person call me. Shortly thereafter, I started getting nightly phone calls (between 6:30 — 6:45 pm to be exact). I answered the first time and politely explained that I had already purchased a vehicle elsewhere. I was then asked to answer a few questions regarding my purchasing decision and, deciding to be a good sport, I obliged. I was actually impressed that they were looking to learn how to improve their business practices and figured my feedback would be helpful. I was incredibly polite and explained that I simply couldn’t pass up the price offered by the other dealership and that the competing dealership worked their tails off to get my business. (The first half of that dealership’s name is AUTO and the second half is NATION.) So WHY, oh WHY, does Covert Hutto continue to ring my phone like clockwork nearly every weekday evening for several weeks in a row??? I am so sorry for being curt — okay, rude — to the sweet girl who had the bad luck of having me answer the phone this evening in the middle of my dinner — I get that she was just doing her job. But seriously, hounding someone to death is a great way to ensure I won’t EVER be doing business with your dealership.

I have to say I believe the service department have turned things around. Bruce contacted me after my post and turned over the issues to Terry who was excellent with scheduling AND follow up. After taking my truck in because of an A/​C issue, they also found a couple other issues that needed to be addressed, even called me back to the shop to discuss options.
I also have to say the Extended warranty ended up being worth the upfront expense, as all repairs to the truck have fallen within my extended warranty guidelines, and have saved me much more than I have paid thus far. In retrospect I Definitely would recommend the extended warranty, especially now that I have 62,000.00 miles on my 14 model truck.
I am going to take my truck to Covert Hutto Chevrolet, for future repairs and services needed.

My husband, my father, and I had a horrible experience here. When we first walked in the door the person at the front desk didn’t even acknowledge us until we got all the way up the counter and told her we were interested in buying a car. The salesman was standoffish and just plain rude by the time we left. Basically, he was a jerk. We went to go test drive the car and it randomly started to act up by spitting windshield washer fluid at the window. The salesman was slow to respond with anything about it. Basically, he said that it was weird and did not offer to have it looked at or anything. We were willing to work with a price that made up for the inconvenience of having to take the car in and get it fixed. But he wasn’t willing to budge any. He said, this was the deal and that’s it. The staff at this dealership was very rude. We will never ever consider coming here again, especially since they try to sell you a car that doesn’t even work at full price.

I can’t speak for the sales department at Covert Hutto but I can describe the service department in one word, pathetic. Customer service is SEVERELY lacking here. I seriously don’t know how this place is in business considering all the complaints I heard before hand, but we gave them the benefit of the doubt because they are the closest dealership to our home. Every time we have had to bring in our truck to Covert we have had to wait at the counter at least 5 – 10 minutes without being helped, yesterday was no exception. My husband brought his truck in for a problem and they supposedly couldn’t find it or hear it. We had to advise them to keep it over night because the problem/​noise usually came after the engine was cold (which was also relayed to them when we dropped off the truck), they did not suggest this, we did, the non-​experts. At that point we should have known it would all go downhill as it seemed like we were being «pushed out of the door.» We were told today that they didn’t hear the noise/​problem again so we decided at that point to just go pick up the truck. My husband got in his truck at the dealership and sure enough the minute he started the engine there was the noise «they couldn’t find.» He immediately approached John who was talking to another employee but would not acknowledge my husband or stop his conversation to help a customer. At that point my husband left and we will not be back to this joke of a dealership. Although as it appears everyone that works there is much too busy to deal with customers I’m sure losing one won’t hurt right?
I’m posting this on as many places as I can find so hopefully they will fix their severe problem or help someone else the frustration of going to this place.

The sales staff is awesome. But with that said the service department is 180 degrees of the sales staff.
The service staff is generally terrible and the follow up is weak at best.
When we have had car issues they seem to find ways to either not find the issue or try to put it off as normal.
After reading blogs the issues are common and other dealers seem to work to fix them. This service department find you and the problem an annoyance.

Absolutely horrific customer service. Walked in and was ignored for 5 min service counselor had nod clue.
Just took my other car in to Round Rock Honda and there is no comparison.

The absolute worst service center that I’ve ever been to. David said he would do tint on my truck for $ 80.00 as well as having mylink system checked. He would have a Silverado ready for me so I could leave my truck and get to work on time. I stood around waiting to be help for at least 30 minutes. Finely someone got to me. Told what I was there for. So went to my truck to get everthing. Get my insurance and lunch for work. Then told me tint would actually cost $ 120, THEN ULTIMATELY $ 140.00. David claimed he never spoke with me then after I talked A while he chimes in saying it was only for the font 2 windows. I said I thought you didn’t speak with me. Well he claimed he remembered my voice. Either way Bruce the guy that’s supposed to be trying to straighten up there service department and brought in from CA. Isn’t Any better. He didn’t even want me to leave my truck he just had his tech. Come out and plug his computer in and check for any errors and claimed it’s my phone not the system. Well all I can say is I should have listened to the other people that have had service at Covert in hutto. Because they warned me about how sorry this service Department was I thought well they couldn’t be worse than Rush Chevrolet. I was wrong. They are 10 times worse. Don’t bother setting an appointment. It will do you know good. They won’t even remember. I ended up being 2 hours late to work and didn’t get anything accomplished at all. Covert Chevrolet in Hutto. You Suck.

At first I was corresponding via email with one of the salespeople. I told him I would be there on a Sunday. I got there and said salesperson was not even there and would be back Wednesday! Luckily for me, Mr. Gary Reed, stepped in and helped me. He paid attention to my concerns and wants in my next vehicle. Said «wants to make sure he puts me in the right car» and he did. Very upfront. Then he calls me the very next day to just make sure that everything was still going great with my purchase. Brad (finance– sorry cant remember last name) was also very helpful, explained all my options. Overall experience was great, despite the MIA salesperson (which is why only 4 stars). I would certainly be going back the next time I am in need of another vehicle.

I bought a Suburban from Covert Hutto. They were so nice, helpful and easy to work with and have always taken good care of me. I highly recommend buying your next car from them. I worked with Tim Jones and would definitely contact him again when I’m ready to buy my next car.

The guys at covert have always been a pleasure to work with. Great salespeople like Mark Reiland and Ladd along with the manager Jason Seaton. I have bought 5 vehicles out there and have had family members buy from there also. All very satisfied. Go see the guys at covert hutto and let them get you what you want. And finishing up the deal with the finance department and Brad LaRoche is a positive experience. I will be going back for years to come to purchase new vehicles.

Looking for complete end to end service, look no further. Lad Bartosh is an amazing person who has the patience’s of a Saint. My mother could drive anyone to drink and he helped us find the correct vehicle for her as well as my husband’s Dad. We have bought 5 cars from Lad and have had a great experience every time.
Service is amazing as well, they take such great care of me and my family. I know that when I go in they will fix it right the first time.

Today I received this email — «5 gallons of free gas or free detail when you leave us a Google or Unilocal review». I bought a new car earlier this and and did email them about a few options. I did state in my email that I was in a hurry due to an upcoming trip. However, I wasn’t contacted until after I made a purchase with another dealer a few days later.

Ford has been the family preferred car. I traded my 2^nd car and bought the 3^rd from Covert Ford in Hutto. I had a great experience. Mark (in the service department) was very nice and pleasant.
I’m one my 4^th Ford and bought from this location again. I was sad to hear that Mark had left. Jim was also nice but it wasn’t the same. Now Jim is gone and I believe the new guys name is Justin?
He is not friendly or pleasant :(I heard him tell a customer who would leave his vehicle and come back later that the place closes at this time and he will have to wait to get his vehicle some other time if he gets there after that time because his wants to leave at closing time, no later. I’m sorry but that’s rude.
I miss Mark and his pleasantries!
If you want to purchase a vehicle, I highly recommend talking to Chris (Sync rep). He was extremely nice and though I didn’t buy my vehicle from him, he helped me a lot! I don’t recommend dealing with Nate (Sales rep). He was pushy and insisted.

Recently had some problems with a 2008 Saturn, serious electrical issues. I called on a Tuesday and David in service told me they wouldn’t even be able to pop the hood on it until «next week.» I told him that we had recently had a transmission replaced there under an extended warranty program and that we really wanted to bring it to them for this new issue because they were familiar with the warranty company’s process but he started giving excuses as to why this particular problem might not be covered by the extended warranty and to not get my hopes up for a claim. Also put me on hold a couple of times while I tried to get something set up. Eventually gave us and disconnected the call.
Next call was to Nyle Maxwell GMC in Round Rock and the got us in that day. I Unilocal about that experience in a different post and it went much better than this one.
I believe the transmission job ended up being about a $ 4000 repair so you would think that might have some bearing on whether they want more of your business. Maybe not?

Pretty standard sleazy sales place. Avoid.
My wife and I were shopping for a truck a few months back and we’d heard good things about Covert’s inventory. So we decided to make the drive to Hutto — all the way from south Austin. We weren’t casual shoppers, we were ready to buy.
Now, being a sales manager or in some sales capacity over the last 12+ years I know many of the tricks. So when we stopped in, we were very nonchalant about our upcoming purchase. I mentioned we were just test driving, to avoid the sales pitch and pressure. Truth be told, I had a pre-​approval letter in my back pocket and was ready to drive off in a new truck that day. However, the minute the sales guy heard he wasn’t closing us that day, he lost all interest. In fact, before he even asked our names he wanted to know our price range and if we were buying that day. Not a great start. Nonetheless, I did want to drive a few models to narrow down my options. So we test drove two models. I wanted to look at a third, but because All Star Salesman knew he wasn’t getting a commission that day he said –Well, we close in 15 minutes, you’ll have to come back another day. Hahaha. Nope.
We left Covert and headed to another dealership the next weekend where we bought a fully loaded F150 4×4 Lariat. I really hope Covert or this salesman reads this and feels the pang of missing out on that commission. But then again, if that’s his sales technique I’d be surprised if he’s still in sales.
If you want your typical sleazy, used sales place, by all means, stop in. Otherwise, save yourself the drive and shop somewhere else.

Looked at a truck on a Wednesday at 4pm, got the purchase order sent to our bank the next day around 3:30pm, took off of work again to go to the bank and as I’m sitting in the bank waiting area I get a call that the car has been sold. SAY WHAT?! How does that happen?! Let me see if I can find anything else that might work. Still waiting for that call back. Total fail.

«My husband and I recently purchased a used Honda Odyssey from your dealership. We love our new vehicle, but I have to say that I have been extremely disappointed with the service and communication by our salesperson.
I found the Odyssey online and knew it was the one I wanted. I called to make sure it was still available and was put in touch with Chris. He confirmed for me that the vehicle was still available. I explained that I would be driving up from South Austin and would get there in about an hour. After I had already left to head that direction, Chris called to tell me that service had taken the vehicle to „clean it up“, so it might take a few minutes once I got there. Since I was already on my way, I headed up anyway.
When we arrived, the staff was very friendly and helpful! However, my 3 year old daughter and I waited an hour and a half before we were able to check out the vehicle. At that point, I had about 15 minutes before I had to leave to pick up my other daughter at school. I quickly took a look at the car and pointed out a couple things that needed fixed and told Chris that I wanted the vehicle.
He went on to explain that it would probably take a day or two to get it ready and then we could come sign paperwork. He would call me later that day with financing information.
This, he actually did. He called and told me that it would be $ 265/​mo and that he didn’t have any other details. A week later when I finally spoke to Steve the finance manager, he explained that that price was for 72 months, not 60 months as I had assumed. In the mean time we had passed on another vehicle, that was $ 259/​mo for 60 months, but had more miles, because we thought this was a better deal.
In the mean time, EVERYDAY, Chris would tell me that the car should be ready the next day. Then I wouldn’t hear from him and then I would call or text and may or may not hear back (although when my husband called, I got a call back in 5 minutes). If I did hear back, he would say I don’t know let me check. It did not feel like a priority at all. It ended up taking 8 days to get my vehicle ready. Had I been told this up front, that would have been fine, but I kept getting my hopes up and then nothing for 8 days.
The day we finally were able to come get the vehicle, we got there and signed all of the paperwork and Chris brought the car around. A couple of the things that I had asked to be repaired had not been. The car had not been detailed as promised, and several issues that I hadn’t noticed the first time had not been addressed, like the back of the passenger seat upholstery was falling off. The „touch-​ups“ to the outside missed several spots. All of this was especially disappointing since the explanation I was given along the way was that they were „cleaning it up“.
Chris was supposed to take care of getting the part to fix our sun shield (one of the original things I asked for). Yesterday after not hearing back for a week about it, I text Chris and he said he hadn’t heard anything and that he would check. I haven’t heard back. I also requested a list of the service things that had been done to the car just so I know what things need attention when, i.e., brake pads, rotors, etc. Chris was supposed to get me this list, but I haven’t seen it.
I am writing you as someone in sales and a business owner. I know that everyone is busy and that things get missed, but this was consistent throughout the transaction and if I were in your position, I would want to know.»

This past weekend we bought our own Ford F150 XLT at Covert Ford and again we couldn’t be happier. Mark Rieland is the best salesman and Abbé in the finance office is just as good. We came back, told Mark exactly what we wanted and it beat that. We bought a beautiful truck for the exact price we said we wanted and from start to finish were happy! If you have to or need to buy a vehicle, please go to Covert Ford in Hutto!

I went out of my way to buy my new car at Hutto Ford…
my trade-​in value there was more than any other dealer…
I had to travel a bit from Cedar Park,.
We had a dispute over my handicap plates, I was told at the cedar park DMV, that my old plates were to be retained, Hutto ford had another DMV source, that differed, if I am in the right, it cost me an extra $ 65 or so…
After the sale, I wrote John, my sales guy,
they do not even return your e-mails…I was disappointed with that,
I changed my mind on car selection, I wanted a mustang, after The fusion, no one would even talk to me about that…
The guy at finance ??? watch out for him, I got a feeling, he is not very honest…
