History

Established in 1985.

Factory Direct Furniture was originally founded in 1985 by Jim Heikes in the building that originally housed Minnesota Fun roller skating. That building has since seen 4 major additions to bring it to our current furniture store. Jim ran the store for 10 years and then sold out and leased the building to Pam’s Furniture for 12 years. In 2007 Jim and his sons Kevin & Keith reopened Factory Direct Furniture in the original location. It is not unusual to see as many as 6 members of the Heikes family working in various capacities in the store at different times throughout the week.

Keith Heikes

Keith and his brother, Kevin, are the co-​owners of Factory Direct Furniture. Prior to entering the furniture business, Keith worked in banking & in the automotive electronics industry. Keith has lived in Hutchinson the majority of his life and is a HHS graduate. When not at work, Keith enjoys motorcycling, golf, riding ATV, Vikings games and BBQ’ing. Keith is also very active with the Hutchinson Rotary Club, a division of Rotary International. Keith & his wife Tess live in Hutchinson along with Tess’s son Peyton.

Kevin Heikes

This is Kevin’s 2^nd time around as a co-​owner of Factory Direct Furniture. Kevin and his father, Jim, ran Factory Direct from 1985 – 1995. Prior, Kevin worked in the automotive & insurance worlds. Kevin enjoys nearly anything sports related, especially Gophers, Vikings & Twins games and also enjoys reading. Kevin’s wife of 27 years teaches 1^st grade in Hutchinson. They have two children, Kyle and Katelyn.
