Ulta Salon Cosmetics & Fragrance

My new favorite stylist is Kenzie D. She is amazing with haircuts & color. I always leave happy and ready to take on the world. Kenzie is very knowledgeable about the latest looks, hair products & makeup! I can’t wait to come back.

This use to be one of my favorite cosmetic stores. They have lots of products plus the salon is a plus. The problem, they employees are just ‘ok’. No fault of their own, it’s a management issues because they haven’t been train in going the extra mile for their customers.
They are okay with ‘ok’ customer service… more then they are exceeding expectations.
The ladies in cosmetics were really nice, helpful and friendly. Then they huddled up for casual conversation while others waited. It was not business related, I could hear them.
They only had two cashiers which is very frustrating because the line was long (see photo). While other workers stood around and talked. If I didn’t really need the items, I would have left. I’ve scene these types of lines during the holiday… it’s only September.

Sharon is extremely rude. All I attempted to do was ask her which shade of concealer matched my skin color more. She told me to find someone else because she doesn’t feel like walking all the way over here??? Extremely disrespectful. Never shopping here again.

I finally found a stylist with the ability to get my ashy — blonde highlights just right! In the past I have had a hard time finding someone whom is capable of giving my naturally golden blonde a more ashy color without turning it light blue or leaving me with damaged hair so I was ECSTATIC to find a guy named Jordan at Ulta!
He really knows what he is doing, he is quick with the foils (without compromising quality) and friendly.
He told me his father has been working with hair for many years and shared many tips and techniques with him and it shows! I can finally go to the salon and confidently sit in the chair without the anxiety of someone new that will likely screw it up! I highly recommend him!

Geeze Louise, reading some of the other reviews about this place is like going to a party where everybody is bashing the kid in high school they all hated with a purple passion.
Maybe my expectations are low but I like this Ulta store a lot. Every single time I’ve been to this location (which over the years has been many), employees have been visible and helpful, not to mention friendly. On my most recent visit, I was greeted when I walked in the door and asked by not one but two associates if I needed any help. The second time I took the associate up on the offer for help as I needed assistance locating a certain brand of hair product.
While the location is not ideal being next to Northeast Mall, this Ulta has the goods. I can almost always count on finding my sometimes difficult to find hair products here. Maybe not in the size I want but they will at least have something that I can work with and use.
If you’re reading comments on these reviews and contemplating whether or not to visit this location, go. There are lots of negative Nellies leaving reviews. Some of the ranting may be justified but I doubt all of it is. Try it out for yourself and you may be pleasantly surprised.

Since I know makeup very well, it’s not so bad for me to go through the store. There isn’t that many people that want to help you and this store has gone down hill with the kind of employees they are hiring. The lady that helped me at the register was very cold and was making faces like she hated her job and didn’t want to be there nor help anyone.
They recently started selling Lancôme which is one of my favorite companies. Before that I had to get some of my makeup at the mall and then the rest at Ulta (or Sephora if I was looking for Nars). I have always noticed that Ulta has the worst customer service, hands down out of all corporate makeup stores. I went to get my favorite Lancôme mascara from Ulta and the store manager told me I can only have one sample per one product of Lancôme, this was after waiting for about 10 minutes to get a sample in the first place. That’s when I finally said forget it I am not buying it and then went to Dillard’s where I got 4 small samples and purchased a mascara AND a concealer. The lady at Dillard’s did such a fantastic job with customer service and I even spent more money because of it. Don’t buy Lancôme at Ulta, go to a department store. They are far better customer service and they will help you with samples and tell you more about future deals to make you want to come back.

I highly recommend Rachel at the Highlands. I get very nervous about haircuts due to bad experiences in the past. I have been to many salons in Arlington over the last 15 years, from cheap to expensive. Price is no indication — it is a roll of the dice every time as to the stylist’s ability and whether or not your personalities match. Once you find a good stylist they are worth their weight in gold! I currently found myself without a regular stylist, so I thought I’d give Ulta a try. Rachel was great — she listened and did exactly what i asked, and did a great job as well. She was also very positive and pleasant. Hooray!

I went to Ulta Salon on Monday, 08/​25/​2014 and my service was decent, definitely did not meet my expectations however; There was only 2 ladies in the salon, the lady that was doing my hair kept having to stop to answer the phones and help other clients.
My haircut was okay, better than the last one I had done at Ulta At Alliance Town Center. That experience is a whole nother story, it was horrible. Back to what I was saying, I had gotten a haircut and straightening treatment (what I thought was a straightening treatment at least), when the lady had gotten done with my treatment, my hair was straight. I go home don’t wash it for 24 hours like I was advised, after washing it, my hair was back curly in most places but straight in other parts. Whenever I called to tell them to explain what had happened, the lady on the phone told me, they don’t have a straightening treatment they however have a «kerastraight» but it is not to straighten the hair, it is to do nothing more than make the hair less frizzy. That they weren’t going to do anything about it because that was what the treatment was supposed to do. I’m terribly unhappy, I am a college student so I don’t have the money to just throw away for nothing. This will be my last experience for me to get my hair done at Ulta Salon. I hope this review helps others.

Went here to get gel manicure. Friendly person and good nail shape and color, but not sanitary and chipped within 1 week. Do not recommend.

I love Ulta, don’t get me wrong, the store is fantastic and the products are wonderful. But recently they have been careless about their customers. I walk around Ulta waiting for service, and no one is around to assist me, and if there are workers around, they don’t even bother ASKING me if I need help. When they finally notice me, they are rude and useless. I dislike the workers that work at this location.
Never color your hair at this Ulta Salon! Here’s why:
After seeing all the mixed reviews this salon gets, I decided to give it a try. I walked in on May 28^th and asked the salon worker, that was at the register, to tell me how to make an appointment and what days the salon had openings. Well, she never really told me anything, except to «just make an appointment with her now»… So i did. She scheduled me for May 29^th. And left the store.
I came in on May 29^th and saw that there were only 2 workers working, one was with a client and the other was not. I waited to be checked in for quite sometime. When the lady that didn’t have a client finally noticed me, she checked me in and placed me on the salon chair. She asked me what I wanted and i said «ombré/​balayage» and showed her a picture of what I wanted the outcome to look like or be similar to. She said that she could do it. So she began… she took me to the sink where I was told that she was going to strip the color out of my hair from the previous dye and when she puts the product on, it was going to burn or itch my head. I got really nervous. As she did this process, my head was on fire. I felt like my scalp was melting off for 10 minutes. After the horrible wait and process, she rinsed my hair and took me back to the chair. She started applying bleach and dye to my WET hair… I didn’t understand why she didn’t blow dry my hair first, then put on the bleach? But as she began putting the bleach on my hair, she put it DIRECTLY on my scalp and it burned so bad! Anyways, after she was finished doing my so called «ombré/​balayage», she put me under the heat for about 30 minutes so she could go eat… After the 30 minutes were over, she rinsed my hair and took me back to the chair, where she then blow dried my hair. I didn’t want to look so she turned me to the side, so i couldn’t see the end result becauseIi was so excited! When she finished, she turned me towards the mirror, and I was HORRIFIED! My hair looked nothing like the picture or what I was expecting. It was brassy, dried out, and worst of all, ORANGE. Even my hairdresser said it was orange and she couldn’t do anything about it, then left to go get my bill. She came back and tried to reschedule me for my next appointment and I flat out told her «I will not be coming back», and walked off to go pay. I was embarrassed and afraid to go anywhere, after leaving the store.
The next day, I decided that I wanted a refund. So I called Ulta and told the first lady that picked up, «I want to speak to a manager.» And she told me to wait while she transfers my call. I was waiting for a good 10 minutes before the manager responded. As I’m complaining and asking questions, all she could say was «I’m sorry, I don’t know what to say» «I’ll call you later as soon as I get a hold of the salon manager, another day». I agreed to do this, and gave her my number. That was the end of it.
Five days go by and I haven’t heard back from the manager. So I called the store again and asked to speak to another manager, luckily the lady who picked up first this time was one of the managers. I told her about the situation and complained about the other manager. She helped me so much… Long story short, I got a refund and a 30% off discount on my next salon visit. I haven’t visited this Ulta store or the salon ever since. I would not recommend this place to anyone, no matter how «inexpensive» or «great» people say they are. Spend your money at a place that you know does FANTASTIC hair and is worth the time and money!

Usually I love going into ulta, I mean what’s not to love being surrounded by make up and girly things. I’ve never been to this location and was around the corner so I stopped in. all of the sales reps were rude, standing around, not asking if anyone needed help, and when they did help, they weren’t useful at all. never returning to this location

Occasionally I get a gift card to Ulta for a birthday or Christmas. I don’t like to pay for shipping when I can get a product locally, so I think, «I’ll check the Ulta across the street to see if they have what I want.» However, every time, I am disappointed and annoyed because the store never has what I’m looking for.
Go to the makeup section and take a look around… there are dozens and dozens of empty spots on the shelves. They never keep the shelves stocked or organized. So, I’m wasting money on shipping again because of their incompetence.

This is my favorite Ulta location in DFW. They have great employees who are always very helpful. If you need a GREAT makeup artist see Trina (aka magician) We used Trina to do my daughters wedding make-​up, including all the bridesmaids and my makeup. All my friends have not stopped raving about how beautiful the make-​up looked! If you need expert help and a good selection of products go to Ulta in Hurst, Tx.

I love how they always have the stuff need.
This location, I loath coming here. The workers are snobs and don’t even bother them with questions. They have what you need if you’re not willing to wait and buy it online. They never give you your free samples either.
Bottom line is DON’T bother them. One star for their customer experience.

I like that Ulta sends out coupons. I like that they have sales and a wide selection of products.
I don’t like that there are people working at Ulta, but no one seems willing to help me when I have a question or need to find something. The salon employees are basically useless if I have a product question.

This location is truly hit or miss unfortunately.
They carry my bare minerals foundation that I like to use and they always have my color in stock. So that’s one solid plus for this location.
sometimes the girls working are super friendly and other times stuck up. Sometimes they are helpful and answer all my questions and other times they just stand there and watch me walk around helpless clearly needing guidance. One time I recall in particular, I was looking for a brush head for my clarisonic. I wasn’t sure exactly which one I needed and was hoping to chat with someone about it. I stood in that section for almost 10 minutes and saw 4 idle employees (yes I counted). They weren’t interested in helping me. so I left. Did a little research online and ordered them through Amazon.
I will still come here from time to time to get my foundation. but I sure hope they level out their consistency so I dont feel like I’m walking on a minefield

I like Ulta stores. The few times I’ve visited this location have been okay. I’ve encountered one employee here that’s been friendly and helpful… everyone else don’t seem very happy, and slightly disgruntled to have to help you. Aside from slow nights when no one’s in the store and you can breeze in and out, you end up waiting in line for at least 10 mins. The last time I was there, the line was backing up. An employee was ringing up a young lady (who took her time checking her receipt on the machine… then on the receipt… then asking questions… then standing there looking at the receipt again… then standing by the door and pulling out her calculator and going through her receipt… really??!), and then decided to leave the cash register, leaving one lady to work on the building line. WTF?!? Needless to say, the other ladies in line and I were NOT impressed.

I went here a while back and hadn’t had the chance to write a review yet so here goes! Overall it was a great experience and my stylist Jayme was amazing! She took what I said and made it work for me which I love! They had a special discount for highlights that I used and the checkout process went smoothly. Although recently I found out Jayme has not been working there so this week I’m trying out a new stylist and we’ll see how that goes

Recently I had to go to a wedding shower for my best friend and realized… i’m going to see everybody I knew growing up and I have serious roots. Serious roots… oh so bad.
So I went to Ulta because I read they had Goldwell hair dye. Sadly, that’s wrong. They use Redken. Lana did my color and she did a great job. My haircut also turned out very well. Root lightening, all over color, trim, de-​thicking my insanely thick hair, cutting layers around my face and blow out was 100 bucks. I got the same quality color and style as Toni and Guy for 20 bucks cheaper and I don’t have to listen to horrid techno music.
So why only four stars? I wasn’t real pleased with my eyebrow wax. I got a little burned and my eyebrows also weren’t exactly even when I got home. Great for hair dye and hair cut but not so good for eyebrows.
This particular store is going under a major remodel. The salon equipment is all brand spanking new and the rest of the store will be completed by the end of September. Swanky.
I like that Ulta carries «Tarte» brand cosmetics –natural makeup without parabens and petrochemicals. They also carry «Bare Escentuals» bare minerals — another natural line. I like buying naturally made lip gloss so when I inevitably eat it, I don’t have to worry.
Epilogue and knocking down to three stars: I got a phone call about an appointment for re touching my hair color that I specifically told them not to make. I had to call up and cancel the bogus appointment. also, and this is not a reflection on Ulta itself but their hair dye product, Redken does not hold up as well as Goldwell hair dye.
