Sugar & Spice Custom Bakery

So I surprised myself in not writing a review sooner but I guess it’s good that I waited. My hubby and I ordered our Wedding and Grooms cakes from Karen and the were the most takes about subject at the wedding. Everyone, and I mean everyone was blown away by how good they were. I got a traditional Almond and Buttercream three tier and my husband got the Reese’s cake. The Groom’s cake was fine before the night was over, my hubby still complains that he only got to eat a half slice., photos and all. We took the top tier of mine home to do the traditional 1 year thing, which brings me to this review. Karen provided detailed and instructions on how to preserve the cake and we followed them and boy, I’ll tell you what, this cake is as good 1 year later as it was on our wedding day! So, if your in the market for a wedding cake, I’m sure you can find some fancy pants cake decorator willing to charge you an arm and a leg for a ‘one of a kind’ masterpiece, which by they way will be destroyed in under and hour, and you will get just that, a decorated bland cake. Karen is really well priced, very kind and personable, but most importantly her cakes are phenomenal!

I ordered a cookie cake for my daughter while I was in Huntstville. Karen was really helpful and even made it while I waited. The decoration was great and the price was very reasonable. The presentation came out super-​great and my daughter was ecstatic — as were the other kids that she shared it with. What a great place!

My boyfriend surprised me with a cake from this bakery and I was so surprised and happy! Karen is such a lovely lady and super nice to talk to. If only our birthdays weren’t so close together (4 days apart), we’d be getting cakes from her more often! The cake itself was dark chocolate and it was nice because not overly sweet meets the great frosting for a good balance. It’s definitely lasting us awhile because it’s one cake to two people so we’ll be able to savor it longer :)

My friends had Sugar and Spice Bakery make cookies for their beach wedding instead of the traditional cake (see photo). Simple sugar cookies, yes. Colorfully and well decorated, yes. Tasty, ABSOLUTELY! Don’t tell anyone but I might have sneaked more than one.
