This Landmark is the tallest statue of an American Hero in the world and was built by artist David Adickes. The Sam Houston Statue, «A Tribute to Courage,» stands 67 feet tall on a 10 foot base. Within the Visitor’s Center, you will find an assortment of visitor information including unique videos, brochures, and maps. You will be greeted by a friendly Texas ambassador, who can help plan your day. We also have a Gift Shop located at the Visitor’s Center. To get to the statue and Visitor’s Center, take Exit 109 or 112 from I-​45. Free Parking. Wheelchair accessible. All pets must be on a leash. Picnic tables.

History

Established in 1995.

The Sam Houston Statue and Visitors Center has seen great success since opening February, 1995. As of August 2012, more than 949,000 visitors have signed the guest book during operating hours, averaging approximately 50,000 visitors personally greeted each year.

Internationally known, the Sam Houston Statue attracts people from around the world. There are 92 foreign countries represented in the guest book and on the map in the center.
