Stopped in based on the Unilocal reviews(again, its’ hard to tell what’s good and what’s bad) The good is the food – my husband had tamales which were delicious! I had two pupusas(sorry on the spelling). My one complaint and I know that I’m not in my neighborhood and am an outsider but there was NO directions in English – not a menu or sign or ANYTHING! So we had to wing it – I would have ordered more but the staff while friendly, couldn’t help me to know the system or how I am supposed to order, so we probably could have gotten more if we knew what we were supposed to. We’ll try to get back though and try it again – maybe during the week the staff is more bilingual.

What a wonderful little joint. I went and looked over the wonderful options they had in the window. I ordered a grilled juicy chicken breast with salad, beans and rice, with fresh tortillas($ 8). I tried to use the little Spanish I remember from taking it for almost 10 years, although I’ve forgotten most of it based on not using it in 5 years. Que es una lastima. The wonderfully kind lady was both impressed and in disbelief from my basic command of the language. You can tell the locals come in and enjoy this place. The chicken, despite being simple, was absolutely well done and the tortillas are to die for. I definitely need to come back for some pupusas. A wonderful little joint.

Consistently my favorite pupusas in the area. The ingredients always have texture and are not cooked into mush. Always made fresh. Served with delicious cabbage. The beef empanadas, also made fresh, are sometimes greasy but always delicious. They are rolled in something like sweet potato flour rather than made with thick pastry crust which makes them special. Nice owners and atmosphere

The Pupuseria formerly known as Cardiolo’s is a local joint with no discernible menu(or other white people or initial indication of English) so I entered with high expectations(plus I just need to put myself in my place sometimes). My Spanish is rusty so even ordering 2 cheese pupusas was a borderline struggle. Grabbed bag of zambos during the wait and was incredulous of the $ 4.25 on the register(twice pointing it out to ensure it was included in the total). As the FTR mentioned, they were quite scalding but that meant fresh as they were a la minute as evidenced by the wait on the sticky floors run over by young’ns. Unevenly cooked, gooey, and addictive in all the best ways.

A combination take-out place and sit down restaurant, with about eight tables for four, a steam counter of Central American foods, and a steady stream of local customers. Since it’s a pupuseria we ordered the pupusas, meat for me, cheese for my brother. They came out piping hot(be careful of that first bite), accompanied by some mild, and some slightly less mild sauce. A little greasy, but certainly tasty. Best we’ve has so far in our sampling of Latin American restaurants on the Rt. 110 corridor north of Jericho Turnpike. We followed them up with several tacos, chicken, chorizo, and carne asada. For some reason they all included melted cheese, and seem to have been toasted. Unfortunately, they continued the grease parade, giving more of a jolt to our clorestorol than was necessary. We’ve had better. The waitress was friendly and offered to help us with any terms we gringos couldn’t understand. Didn’t need it for the things we ordered, but there are still a number of mystery items on the steam table and menu that we didn’t get to. No beer, but they do take credit cards. Overall, a 4 for the pupusas, and a 2 for the tacos average out to a 3.
