I am from Miami so Cuban food is almost my life. Being in California i have found that Cuban Food is almost unheard of so it was nice to see a place that had authentic Cuban so close to my job. The Yuca covered in garlic was soo bomb! i had the regular boiled, not fried. I had picadillo which at first was yummy but i had some leftovers and when i tried them later they tasted a little bitter, don’t know if it was from having it sit out for a while but it’s not stopping me from going again today and trying a sandwich, service was quick and it’s a quiet little small place and the lady that was serving us was very hospitable.

«Simple, but good» Cute little restaurant in HP. I ordered the chicken Fajitas with white rice and«platano maduro». There was only one other couple when my family and I arrived, however they took FOREVER to bring out our food. We were given our drinks right away. We waited for the bread and butter(simple but good) which also took the waitress a long time to bring us as she seemed a little preoccupied conversing with a friend. We practically filled ourselves with bread until our food came. When my fajitas came, they were actually pretty good. The white rice was flavorful and the bananas were good and simple. My friend got something that resembled shredded meat and she really DISLIKED it. Horrible taste. Overall, good restaurant to try, but don’t go if you’re really hungry or if you’ve had better Cuban food.

Great homestyle cooking. However, they forgot my appetizer. :-( The other week I was in the mood for homemade Cuban food after a camping trip. Called in a pickup order around lunchtime. Food was all ready to go when I got there. Nice, shaded area to eat out in the front. More than enough seating for the place. Overall, food was alright for the price(beans a little bland) I don’t see myself coming back anytime soon.

Looks can be deceiving. All the food we ordered looked good, but we made the horrible mistake of eating it. The dishes were totally flavorless. I’ve driven past this place many times and finally made an effort to come in and eat here. Needless to say it was a huge let down. I’m not sure why some people rave about the food here, my guess is they haven’t ate good Cuban food before. The Ropa Vieja tasted like it was prepared at a hospital kitchen and served to people with high cholesterol. Now, It’s possible that I came and the cook was having an off day, I mean there was a point when another couple walked in and he looked up and was visibly upset that 2 more people showed up. Holy crap, the poor guy has to cook 4 dishes now! Unfortunately I’ll never find out if he was having a bad or not, because due to my experience I doubt very much that I’ll come back here. I’ll just keep driving by it like I’ve done for many years.

I was excited to eat here. The décor is simple but nice and it looks classy from the outside. The service was not that great. The waitress seems nore interested in her conversation with her friend than with our order. We were the only people there but the food took a long time. It was really bland and completely overpriced. Eating there made me really sad. :(

There are many great Cuban places to eat around this are but i must say this is NOT one. Recommended to me by a coworker i came to try and nothing about this place stood out to me at all, none of these flavors seemed authentic. Also, no parking

I have been absent from this restaurant for a good 5 years. I was in town and decided to visit. I was very surprised at the remodel inside, the place was sparkling clean, all new tables floors and décor, it was very accommodating and cozy, a good first impression. From there on all I can say is I felt at home, the waitress was pleasant and friendly and the chef said hello to us with a big smile. The menu was not so over price as some reviewers claim here, a good meal for 12 bucks was well worth it, you get your mandatory bread basket with butter, nice, new and clean utensils, she offered drinks and they were brought to our table with glasses with ice. From the menu I selected the Carne con papas and my partner the Ropa Vieja. I was extremely surprised at how Delicious the food was, it tasted fresh and was at the right temperature, my Moro rice was delicious, the include a small side salad and the waitress asked if we wanted any dressing for it, that was very nice of her. I enjoyed every bit of tender beef and potatoes, with true Caribbean seasonings and flavor. I of course left my maduritos for last, and oh boy Perfection, ripe enough, sweet enough and fried to the right golden color. I must say this place is good place to have a decent, well priced meal that we truly enjoyed, we talked, ate, laugh and listen to Julio Iglesias in the background(I guess the chef was in a romantic mood). How nice for him to peek out the window and ask«how is everything?» Delicioso, I replied my compliments to the Chef. Definitely going back soon, I truthfully enjoyed my meal there. Kudos.

This is the closest I’ve been able to find to abuelas cooking. A little in the pricey side, but the service, atmosphere, and quality of the food makes it so worth it. I have certainly become a regular.

This is my first time here at this restaurant but the place was very clean the service was good and the food was very good and fresh. I had a T-bone steak and my date had the shredded beef. Or what they call it Ropa Vieja… As an appetizer I had the Yuca Frita and the plantains were just out of this world good like grandma used to make. i’ll be back for sure as this is my new place for Cuban food and there was no wait and the service was great. Our server didn’t hover over us at our table but she was very attentive to us and took care of our requests. This is really a nice mom-and-pop restaurant.

Visiting family for the weekend, my brother took me to one of his favorite Cuban dives. I enjoy eating Cuban food on occasions, my stepfather was Cuban and he was the main reason for my taste for Cuban food. Sadly I didn’t appreciate it until his death! Las Villas is a little dive that has grown in the last 10 years. Food is very authentic, the cook(Owner) is very nice. I ordered the Perna De Porco sandwich, it was very good, but I have had better. My brother had the milanesa with black beans and rice. We were both very satisfied with our plates. I really noticed that our food wasn’t that greasy at all! Sometimes we run into that problem. One bad thing about this place is parking! They do not have a parking lot. Since this restaurant is a local neighborhood dive, it’s right next to housing. But if you have a chance, it’s well worth it!

Great, homestyle, authentic Cuban food. I am partial to the rabo encendido and the vaca frita(ask for limon on the side :) Always end my meal with a cortadito! The place is nice, clean, plays good music. The waitress that is usually there is friendly and immediately makes you feel comfortable. –1 star for price. It’s hard to find«cheap» Cuban food in LA, but it’s hard to pay that much when the same dish in Miami would cost you 7 or 8 bucks.

It was Ok, but a bit costly for their meals. I went with one of their cheaper items you would think. The famous Cuban sandwich but it was missing mustard a Crucial flavor; but they corrected it after all it all was under $ 7.00

Had lunch here about 1 month ago, had this dish that consisted of chicken wrapped in bacon and stuffed with cheese along with a side of black beans and white rice… DEEEEEEEEEELICIOUS! Service was great and prices are reasonable. Like Arnold Schwarzenegger says, «I’ll be back.» ;-)

This place smelled like fried cooking oil. I was able to smell that half a block away. I got the cuban sandwich to go because one of my friends had recommended that a while back. It was below average. Would not get that again. I looked thru the menu and everything seemed overpriced. Dont think I’m coming back here again.

The service was not so great. When we walked in we were the only customers and the waitress was uninterested and impatient in taking our 3 orders. After we gave our orders she never came back to check on our drinks or anything. The food took a really long time to come. There was only one chef so that may be why but we were the only customers. After our meal I had to walk up the the register to asked for the check and I went to the restroom. She waited for me to come out to give me the bill instead of bringing it to the table. I just thought that was weird. The food is a bit pricey in my opinion for what we got. Around $ 10+ for anything. The banana chips were really good. I got the Arroz con Pollo and that was pretty good too. The Paella was not so good. This was the most expensive dish we ordered and the seafood was frozen and you could tell with under cooked rice. All in all I would probably come back again if I was in the neighborhood but its not so good that I would crave to come here.
