My husband and I spent our anniversary at the hotel and decided to have our celebratory dinner at Zimzala. We had our dog with and they have a dog friendly patio. The patio is nice but I like it better during the day when it’s warm and you can enjoy the view. It was cold this night but they had heat lamps(once they got it lit) so we were comfortable. The server was super sweet and got our drinks right away. They were out of the fish I wanted and we had a late lunch anyway so we ate light. Drinks: I ordered a glass of wine because earlier in the day the bartender made me one of the worst Mai Tais I ever had. So mixed drinks were out.(I’m super picky about cocktails because I was a bartender in my past). Appetizer: We started with pretzels and ale cheese. It was not what I expected. The pretzels were like buns and the cheese was white and tasted more like smoked Brie than cheddar. I expected an orange cheddar dip and something like a pretzel twisted stick. I also hoped for a pretzel that tasted like Annie’s or Wetzel but the buns were kind of bland and dry. Not the«I gotta have it» pretzel I hoped for. Salads: I had seen a grilled wedge salad on the room service menu that wasn’t on their regular menu, but when I asked they made it for me. My husband had the apple salad. The wedge was colorful and good but they used queso fresco instead of cotija(which is a firm and salty cheese). Since queso fresco has little flavor it added no interest to the salad. The roasted seeds and bacon were abundant and good, but I would have liked the tomatoes a bit sweeter. The apple salad was just okay. All it had was green leaf lettuce, apples, a salty cheese, and walnuts. So it was not all that my husband expected. So, what we had wasn’t bad. It just could have been better. It’s been hit and miss for me with the menu here since they opened. Some things in the past have been Great! The food just wasn’t great this time. However, the server was!

What a great place to go with your four-legged, fluffy-bummed best friend! It’s no secret that I love my dog buddy and will go out of my way to choose places we can go together. Luckily, this place is awesome for both humans and dogs alike. We parked in the structure right around the corner(lower level). Plenty of parking, and took the elevator right up to 2R. The restaurant(located in the hotel, but you won’t actually go into the hotel), has a great outdoor balcony with plenty of cool lounge-y type seating, and a great interior as well. Bathroom was clean, too. Food was pretty good — not the best I’ve ever had, but good. My friend had the Hangar Steak, which was pricey but fairly good. I had the burger, which was overall very good, but needed to be seasoned just a touch more. It was a solid choice, and if I were to go there, I’d get that again. Service was so friendly! Our waitress was the sweetest and immediately brought my dog a bowl with ice water. She was attentive as well. We had a really good experience there overall. I’d definitely go back if I were in the area. If you go to Huntington Dog Beach, head over here with your furry friend and treat yourself to lunch/dinner on the patio. Lots of fun, and a view of the ocean, too.

Dog friendly patio… always a plus in my book! They also have a dog menu :) Food was REALLY good! I ordered the halibut and my boyfriend ordered a burger & fries. Food came out extremely fast, which was nice because it was freezing out on the patio. They do have heaters but one of them wasn’t working near us. Highly recommend this place!

Went for mothers day brunch. The variety did not disappoint, from the flatbread with avocado/eggs, to the crab claws and sushi to the traditional breakfast with eggs/bacon/potatoes/sausage to the chile verde and korean beef tacos, then there was the assorted fruit and green salads and the desserts. The smores and lemon bars were outstanding… My compliments to the chef, We will be back.

We went this morning for Mother’s Day Brunch. Our server Lauren was very friendly and very attentive, clearing our plates and refilling our drinks immediately. The food was amazing from fresh bakery items and fresh fruit, to mac and cheese, sushi rolls and Korean beef tacos to all the mimosas and desserts items! The chef, JT did a specular job and even came out to talk to us! Loved the live music too! Our experience was great & will definitely be coming back soon.

So, my first time eating at Zimzala HB and I don’t know why I haven’t before! I’ve been missing out! I think the locals know, but keep it a secret! Atmosphere is very laid back and classy, not too noisy, but with enough buzz in the room to keep it warm and happening. A place you want to be. There was live music which was well performed and at a pleasant volume. The patio area is perfect in the morning, sunny, with views of the Strand below and the HB pier grounds. It was great for brunch, and I can see this being a great spot to bring a date for breakfast, lunch or dinner. Food was amazing! We were there for a Mother’s Day brunch and the restaurant pulled out all the stops with an international cuisine. Usually when restaurants try to pull this off they end up compromising on quality. Zimzala HB bucks that trend, going for an ‘everything fresh’ cuisine. I’m picky about seafood and the various ceviche style dishes were flavorful and fresh. Sushi as well was total pro. The expected brunch food groups were all there as expected, eggs, bacon, sausage, potatos etc, as well as things like mac and cheese, fruit, pastries, and more worldly like the sushi and chili verde. All were done with more pizzazz and quality and freshness. It was fun to have so many flavors to choose from and have them all be good! Service was awesome! Our server Lauren was friendly and sweet and attentive to our large table. Not easy as I constantly require my water refilled. The executive chef JT stopped by our table to ask how the food was and was also very friendly and pleasant, as did the restaurant manager. Nice to see and meet the people that plan all this. Long story short, eat here, you’ll love it!

We decided to stop in here last minute on a Sunday evening for some drinks and snacks. The server«Taylor» is super friendly and very attentive. She was great! You definitely need to make this a regular spot if you are a local. The drinks are cold and the food is delicious!

Went up to Zimzala for an impromptu brunch today! It is inside the Shorebreak Hotel right off of the PCH on the upper level. We asked to be seated on the patio which overlooks the ocean. It was a total win considering the gorgeous weather. We ordered pancakes for the little guy, then the rest of us ordered the Easter Brunch burrito special. It hit the spot with the French fries inside of it! Since we all had a sweet tooth, we also ordered the bread pudding which was a total game changer and big enough to share. Another win. To drink we had some of the Beach Breaks. It was on their speciality cocktail list and it was served on ice with Prosecco and Aperol. I could have ordered seven it was so delightful but I kept it at one. Overall it was a great experience. Service was on point, as was the food and beverage. I will definitely be back!

It’s just not good. The drinks were ok, but the food is flavorless and was cold. Server was slow and there was nobody else there, where was he? Took an extra 10 minutes to get a fork so made my cold, barely edible food get even colder and worse to eat. Seemed like no love is put into the food or drinks just thrown together then served way after its made. It’s such a beautiful view and great location, nice patio but just crappy food and service.

My husband and I had lunch here. We both had the Wagyu burger. He ordered his without cheese, but with a fried egg. His first burger came with cheese, the second without the egg and the third was right. They did give us credit for the burger at the end of the meal. My problem was with the food, my burger which came the right way and on-time was cold, flavorless, and had no juice in it. Also, I ordered medium and it was well done. My husband’s third burger was the same as mine dry, flavorless and cold the egg was also cold. The burger looked like and tasted like it had been made hours before and set in a heating tray to keep it warm and then served. I would go back for the dawn patrol margarita, not the food.

Looking for a place to have my dear friends bridal shower/bachelorette party last night proved to be a bit challenging at first… till we called Zimzala. I cannot express how thankful and happy I am with the service, food, beverage and space that was provided for our function. For no fee or minimum Zimzala reserved a portion of the outside patio for our group of 24ish. The service was attentive, the food and beverage was outstanding. They were able to accommodate separate checks for our large party. Our waiter was patient and friendly. If I could give them 10 stars I would. Had it not been for this location I am not sure our event would of come together. Thank you.

This place is located in a boutique hotel with a view of the HB pier. The décor is great, it’s a little loud since the bar is open to the restaurant. I have to say… I was expecting more menu selections and those that were available were less than stellar. I would recommend this place for a drink and perhaps an appetizer… as for a full dinner… not so much. Service was average… the wait staff were not particularly friendly and seemed to be preoccupied talking with guests on the patio who may have been friends or perhaps regular local guests. Bar serves a light pour.

Absolutely delicious. Came here for my birthday brunch last Sunday. I’m a foodie and this chef knows what he’s doing. I had the Short Rib Benedict on a housemade cheddar and chive biscuit with two perfectly poached eggs, roasted grape and cherry heirloom tomatoes(they exploded with flavor and juice) and roasted yukon potatoes that were seasoned with fresh herbs like I have never tasted before. Others at my table had Breakfast Burritos, applewood bacon, scrambled eggs, potatoes and salsa roja, cheddar and avocado. Also rave reviews. Service was excellent. The only thing this placed missed was acknowledging my birthday. My friend who made the reservation on Open Table said it was noted on the reservation, plus I had gifts on the table, I was opening cards, not one person said«happy birthday»(the hostess who seated us nor our waiter). Other than that, it was a wonderful experience. I will defintely be going back to Zimzala.

First off, 2nd floor of shore front hotel. Located on 5th Street next to chilly beans. Took us a while to find but hope this prevents further confusion. Go for happy hour. Dog friendly. Pretty patio Can be a be expensive. The location is what sells this place. The front receptionist was rude, and one of the waitress was Stereotyping us. But other than that the plates were picked up, my dog was hydrated, and we were fed.

4.5 stars. We were staying at the Shorebreak with our dog and decided to try the hotel restaurant. It took several minutes for a waiter to come by but after that service was wonderful. We went in a Friday around 6 and were surprised to find that happy hour was still going on.(Theirs ends at 7!)We ordered everything on their happy hour menu except for the spiced nuts. It was all delicious! I was so surprised since in my experience, hotel restaurants aren’t all that great. Not so for Zimzala! The cutest part for us was the dog menu. They feature food from Food for Dogs and our pup gobbled it down. The waitress that ended up taking over our table was so sweet and made sure to ask us if we wanted ice in our dogs water bowl(we didn’t) and if we wanted her to just put the food bowl down or if we wanted to give it to our dog. As dog owners I really appreciated that. We will definitely be back!

Note — this place is located in the Kimpton. I was a little lost trying to find this restaurant but its on the second floor. Just walk into the Kimpton and use the elevator. Besides this place being clean and modern, its super dog friendly, which I heart so much. Our server was very helpful offering food to my dog and a water bowl. Unfortunately, during my visit here, there was no beer on tap(sad face) and the poke was just meh. I did have a nice cocktail tho. The shrimp street tacos were not bad, just small(It was $ 4 for each so size was expected). Park in the structure. Its only $ 2. A great place to hang out with your best furry friend after checking out all the cute dogs and hot surfers at the dog beach!

Attended a business dinner with about 15 of my colleagues. We were seated at the outside tables which they had set up in a separate area which was nice. It seemed a bit difficult to get served a drink. I just ordered a gin and tonic. Easy enough. My colleagues had a difficult time getting their bottles of wine ordered and served. I had a chicken breast served over a small portion of mashed potatoes and a few sprigs of broccoli. The chicken had a heavy layer of Dijon mustard which I had to remove. It was very overpowering. The rest of the dinner was okay. I was a bit disappointed. For dessert I had a small apple tart with a teaspoon of vanilla ice cream. It was good but I wish they would have taken the peels off the apples. There are many other better places to eat in Huntington Beach.

Absolutely love how dog friendly this place is! My friends, our pup, and I were strolling through Huntington and started feeling the need for a round of drinks & a chill patio. We came here and had a great time! Their michelada and flavored ice tea are both delicious. Eric was our server and he was awesome too. He Checked on us regularly and made great recommendations. If you have a fury friend and need to regroup from being in the sun or at the beach… Try this place!

They are very consistent. In fact, I think the kobe burger was even tastier this time. The fries are awesome. Five dollar wines at happy hour until 7pm are a deal. The waitress brought us a tall glass of water and said she would bring my dog a bowl. Before I knew what was happening, I saw my dog lapping the water out of my tall glass! The waitress laughed and brought out another one as my dog continued to slurp away thinking, «why shouldn’t I drink out of a nice tall cold one?»

Unfortunately, we were very underwhelmed by this restaurant. My Mom wanted to go to a restaurant by the beach, so we made a reservation for Mother’s Day and asked to sit on the patio. The patio over all was very nice and you can kind of see the pier. It was quiet so you could carry on a conversation. It took 20 min for someone to even come and greet us and take a drink order. They were not busy at all and we were starving. 45 min to finally get food after walking in was annoying. The food was just okay. We got the flat bread, brussel spouts, soup and burger. My pizza had a hair baked into the cheese so that was the final turn off to the whole meal. There’s one unisex bathroom that had a line, but there’s more bathrooms in the lobby. You need a key code to even use them. So you have to wait hoping someone will come and let you in. Overall it was embarrassing to take my Mother here on Mother’s Day. We were really looking forward to spoiling her and making her day special instead we were completely disappointed and neglected.

After a tiring day at the Dog Beach we were starving. My friends and I needed some food and some drinks. We were far from home and seeing how we were near the Dog Beach we figured there were some dog friendly restaurants around. After researching on Unilocal we found Zimzala and their excellent reviews and headed over. We were seated promptly and got situated. My three dogs were exhausted and they laid down as soon as we sat down. Our waitress brought out a doggie bowl with water for our parched pooches. We ordered a round of drinks and our food. We ordered the: Asian chicken wings — Was too salty. Didn’t like it Kobe Burger — Pretty juicy. Very flavorful Pork Belly Benedict — Decent We ordered 4 entrees and four drinks and our bill came out to be about $ 120. Pretty steep for lunch.

New Management ruined this place! Not only did they get rid of the chocolate waffle but this was one of the only nice places in all of downtown Huntington which had happy hour 7 days a week. And now, the typical new guy comes in my city and messes everything up. Yea you! I know you’re reading this you suck and go back home. Staff here is awesome though. Came here for breakfast on Sunday and made reservations for 12:30pm outside. Got a nice table outside on the patio under an umbrella. When it’s warm out, the tables tend to get VERY hot because they are metal. A table under an umbrella is best. Great atmosphere with a view, definitely more mellow than the other bars/breakfast places on main st. Ordered the breakfast burrito($ 13) which was large, crispy and delicious. It came with avocado, salsa, and sour cream on the side. Mimosas are $ 10 and come in 3 different flavors(OJ, grapefruit, and cranberry) and refills for $ 1. My friend and I got the grapefruit ones which were delicious. We parked under the restaurant in the parking structure but to my surprise the waitress said they don’t validate, however, the first 2 hours are free. Our waitress was super friendly and attentive. Great place for a mellow breakfast with a beautiful view.

Sometimes my foodie brain operates very simply. My dining companion and I found this place by typing in the keyword«mussels» in the search field on Unilocal to find a good spot serving this in Huntington Beach. Zimzala was exactly what we were looking for: a pretty and trendy lounge atmosphere. It is one of those restaurant hotels that is a little better than what you’d expect at an in-house spot, enough that you might visit even if you’re not staying in the hotel. We just missed happy hour, which ends at 7pm, even on a Saturday, but our server said that select beers were still on special for $ 5. The rest of our items were regular price, and we ordered a glass of wine, mussels, a side of garlic fries(since moules frites is a great combo in my book), and a duck confit flatbread, enough for a hearty dinner. The portions were plentiful and on par for value, especially the duck flatbread which was large and had lots of chunks of duck and feta cheese. The mussels however could have been better. We loved the sauce it came with but about a fourth of the mussels had tiny bit of meat inside — like finger-nail sized. The bill came up to be $ 50 for everything — not bad, but not great for what we got. I would return but come during happy hour when the mussels and fries are discounted.

Why five stars? Well, because, the Calamari was amazing, the service was beyond attentive and excellent, the dogs came with and we ordered for them of the doggie menu, happy hour prices are awesome and the atmosphere was great. The pups were treated awesome, server was cute too :) All in all pretty goshdarn wonderful experience. Six bucks for a bottle of Coors Light on a Tuesday at 3 o’clock is a little steep but who cares, it didn’t break the bank :)
