Z-​Ultimate Self Defense Studios specializes in personalized martial arts instruction for the entire family. Our Ultimate Kenpo system is a unique blend of Karate, Kung Fu and Jiujitsu, using the best from each martial arts style to provide an effective and efficient method of self defense that can be tailored to any age and body style. Our classes are meant to increase self confidence, self esteem, increase one’s flexibility and strength and teach practical and useful self defense techniques, all within a safe and friendly environment.

Opened by David Lloyd. The school specializes in private martial arts instruction for all. It is totally personalized and customized for every student so they can have their own ultimate martial arts experience.

I’ve been involved in various sports my entire life (basically since dinosaurs roamed the earth) and have had many instructors and coaches, so I know a good instructor when I see one. In the case of Z-​Ultimate HB2, I can honestly say that I choose wisely. Both Master Lloyds are incredible with their knowledge and treatment of students, and they tailor their training to each individual. They have also succeeded in developing a friendly team atmosphere where students help and support each other. If you want to learn martial arts from experts and have access to tournaments to challenge your skills this is the place. I never write a review, but I felt the need to write this one. There is no downside to joining Z-​Ultimate HB2 and the upside is huge.

Joining Z-​Ultimate has been one of the best decisions I have ever made for my two kids! Both my kids have experienced so much growth. My son has gained strength, flexibility, balance and quickness. My daughter has been able to use her innate skills in a focused and constructive way through Martial Arts. My kids have special needs and I couldn’t ask for better instructors. These guys are awesome! Always positive and very helpful. Very solution oriented and want to do what is best for the kids and the families. I only have great things to say about HB2! I can’t wait to see what the future brings for my kids as they continue to grow and develop with Z-​Ultimate!

These people are greedy, they will say what you want to hear but they are not good people. If you «buy» into this place you will get guilt tripped into spending more money constantly. They act nice but its all about there business they don’t care about you outside of the pay check you bring in to them. When you spend a lot & bring them business they are great and when you do not they treat you badly. They are practicaly salesmen.

We were told that martial arts would be a wonderful skill for my boys to have. We have two sons, ages 4 and 6 at the time. My 4 year old needed more self control with his aggression and my 7 year old needed more confidence and help with his focus issues. I cannot begin to explain how grateful we are to Sensei Dave, Ryan and Nick! We are grateful for their talents over the past 3 years. Both my boys have grown so much! My youngest is now helping the lower rank and new students. My oldest is now showing much more confidence, willing to try new and exciting things and has more emotional strength. The transformation in both of them over the past 3 years has been incredible. Yes, this studio has all the qualifications, talent, etc… but at the end of the day they are good people and to be honest, borderline family!!! We trust them with our most treasured possession; our children… and they have NEVER disappointed!

I was looking for a sport for my daughter who has some «attention» issues and I was thrilled when she asked to start taking karate lessons. This studio came highly recommended so we decided to give it a try. The instructors Master Lloyd, his son Ryan, and Nick were so welcoming and encouraging.
Here we are nearly 3 years later and she still loves attending classes. She has gained physical strength, as well as emotional strength, made new friends, and is more outgoing that she was a few years back. She loved it so much that my other daughter and my husband started taking the classes!
On to the details: the staff is knowledgeable, kind, encouraging, but also will challenge your kid to step it up a notch. They are also great working with kids with disabilities.
The dojo is very clean, and has easy accessibility.
I would take off one star, because the parking lot is a bit congested at class time, but that really isn’t their fault.

I would rate this 5 stars, but I don’t want this review to get deleted. This business is absolutely incredible. The instructors here have a wonderful charisma about them. They truly love their work and it shows. Due to them, I am becoming more and more confident with my self defense abilities everyday. I have been at this dojo for over a year and a half and I have noticed a positive change in the way I act, think, and behave. I have greatly improved in my health and I am more energetic than I was two years ago. I am in shape now and still progressing towards my goals in health/​fitness. Master Dave and Ryan Lloyd and also Sensei Nick go above and beyond their duties. They take personal interest in every student and it helps create a special bond between the teachers and students. There is also a strong bond between all of the students in the dojo as well. We truly are like a second family to each other. We, as a dojo, are fortunate enough to have instructors as incredible as we do. We get physical and mental sweats but we also have fun while doing so. The atmosphere is very relaxing and fun to be a part of. I could not ask, or even find, for better instructors. They truly are some of the most incredible people to ever meet. They are always smiling and friendly, and truly genuine. This dojo has become the most positive part of my life, and I am so thankful everyday that I can say I am a proud student of HB2!

This is really a 5 star review, but I hear those are often filtered out. Z Ultimate HB 2 has been a great experience for our 9 year old son. He has been attending lessons for 18 months, and loves the dojo and the staff. He is gaining flexibility and dexterity, learning self defense, and also learning lessons about ethics and honor.
We did city rec Karate for a while, which was OK, but the real difference here is the excellence of the instructors, and their commitment to reaching every kid. Ryan and Nick are fantastic teachers, customizing private lessons for the ability level and learning style of each kid, and involving all students in the group lessons. These guys take pride in what they do, and are in it for the right reasons.
The atmosphere here is non-​intimidating and caring, but the classes are filled with challenges– both physical and mental. There is a reason this dojo has been in the same location for 20 years, and is thriving. Highest recommendation.

David and Ryan Lloyd along with Sensei Nick Hirsch are wonderful martial arts instructors and simply put just good people. They teach the Ultimate system of kempo which consists of practical, classical and tactical forms of self defense. I along with two of my daughters (age 20 and 11) have been attending workouts for almost a year. I have noticed a transformation in both of my daughters who were kind of shy and not the most athletic persons into well adjusted ninjas. Both of my daughters really enjoy the group lessons which are three times of week. Classes are divided into children, young adults and adults. The Lloyds go out of their way to make sure that everyone of all ages is welcome. Not only will you get in shape, but you will be able to defend yourself and have a good time.
I highly recommend that you simply watch one of the group classes and you will observe the positive energy that flows from the dojo into your children and your lives. Martial arts training can be somewhat expensive but the cost is well worth it.

My son has been going to Z Ultimate for almost three years and it has been a wonderful experience. He has progressed under the tutelage of Ryan and Mr. Lloyd, Nick and the other very good instructors.
These folks put the emphasis on the kids, having fun, being responsible, respectful and good citizens. They work with the parents to keep the kids on the «Straight & Narrow,» and should be praised for jobs well done. If your looking for a Cobra Kai dojo with «Put em’ in a body bag,» mentality this is not your place. Don’t be fooled however, there is a emphasis placed on age appropriate training, and they will be both tough and fair.
Karate is expensive. There’s no way around that for most people, it is an expensive sport. But when compared to what you get, the number of group lessons, combined with included private lessons, it becomes much more palatable. And when you take into account Mr. Lloyd, his son Ryan and all the others, their level of caring, community and dedication to these kids, it becomes an invaluable experience and value! We have personally been the recipient or recipient of their kindness and giving spirit.
Z Ultimate is always very competitive in tournaments, and you couldn’t ask for a better Father & Son team. Although both are both very accomplished Black Belts, winning isn’t everything or the main focus of their studio. Their dojo has been in the community at the same location for almost twenty years and I enthusiastically recommend them to anyone looking to get their children, themselves or others into Karate. You will not be disappointed.
