Unfortunately, SHERYL R needs a hobby, after reading the last review, she has zero education on the severity of the disease of alcoholism and drug addiction! I have been in treatment almost nine months now and have a first hand experience with West Coast Detox, its staff, and the way things REALLY are. I was abusing pain medication and my drinking was out of control, I needed help. West Coast Detox provided me with a home-like environment, all the food I could eat, a clean bed and resting areas, on-site staff available 24/7, and people who truly cared and were educated about recovery. The problem with alcoholism/drug addiction is that it is a disease and people do die from it. What happened is a tragedy and all who knew Jason in the community were devastated, but this is the sad part of recovery, many dont make it. That being said, there is so much positive being done at WCDS that I would like to focus on an actual client’s story, my first hand experience and the truth. I went to this Detox Center scared of the unknown and was welcomed with warm embrace. The staff at WCDS has years of recovery of their own, and extensive knowledge on alcoholics/drug addicts, medications, and safety of clients. They have rules and guidelines they inforce that must be followed by clients for their own safety and the safety of others. There are codes on the doors to the office, and medications, personal items, and anything that the client brings(that can be of harm to them or others) are carefully stored in a large safe. Cell phones are not permitted, no visitors and we were not allowed to leave the house other than nightly Alcoholics Anonymous meetings(again, staff supervised). For the first 12 hours we were checked on throughout the night by a staff member and I was seen by the Doctor the morning after I arrived. I was given the proper medication to have a safe medical detox. I spent 10 days there from 1÷13÷12−1÷23÷12 before going to Rehab. The staff made sure I was properly detoxed and in good health. I would and have recommended West Coast Detox to anyone that has a desire to stop drinking or using and/or for a transition before rehab, detox, or any other recovery program. Don and Jimmy Ramsey were helpful and worked with me to assure I got the help I needed. I know that I went to the right place and I felt right at home there. I would never want to go through detox anywhere else. If you are looking for a Detox facility and want to get clean and STAYCLEAN, then this is the only place in Orange County I would recommend coming to. There is a lot of love, care and safety in that house and I am proud to say thats where my sobriety began.
